When Rio opened, my kids were young and we went a lot, but I honestly didn't go for awhile. In January I started going to meet some friends to play Pokemon - if you like that game, this is a really great place to play and I was impressed because they have added a lot of new restaurants and fun features. It has been nicely revitalized and is a great spot for all ages.

There are plenty of different foods and treats, activities for kids, free concerts, paddle boats, movie theaters, big play ground and carousel, plus a walking path around the lake where many people walk their dogs. Sprinkled throughout the property are nice sitting areas, bronze statues and other art pieces, it is nicely landscaped with lots of flowers.

Ducks and Geese are always about, and there are machines you can purchase food from if you'd like to feed the ducks. Signs tell you do not feed them bread or other items,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Pretty much a daily starting point walk for my dog Roland and me. Great places to walk, relax, meet other folks. Excellent restaurants, shops and places to go.

What a vibrant place... One can take a good walk around the lake (around a mile).. This place has few restaurants around the lake.. Plus place to sit, chill... Went on a weekend and it was lively and colourful

Since my family and I moved back to Maryland in June 2023, Rio Lakefront has been one of my favorite places to visit. Not only does it have a movie theater and a variety of shops, but there are so many adorable fish and geese swimming there. Plus, the view is nice too. It’s definitely the perfect place to go out on a date especially, either by yourself or with a significant other(s). Yes, I interpreted that last part loosely, thank you very much!

Perfect place for an outing or a date night. There are shops, restaurants and even a theater. You could even go for a stroll on the boardwalk/walking trail going around the lake.

There's a playground too and you could even go boat paddling (closed in winter). It becomes very lively in the evenings and we loved the atmosphere.

Overall it was a fun place!

Sometimes you just need a manufactured gathering place, with shops, nice chain restaurants and cute swan boats and a merry-go-round for the kids. It's all very pleasant and the perfect place for 14 year old you on a first date, or now you if you just want to eat something pretty good and not be in your domicile.

One of the best happening place in Gaithersburg. Good place to chill out with kids and friends. We can take a walk around the lake and lots of restaurants over here. 30$ they will charge for the padling boat and it will be fun ride for kids.
They have AMC movie theater and many different cuisine restaurants.
Also over the evenings they have the live concert, many people just loved it.

What a well-thought and designed place to shop, walk, jog and/or dine. Take a walk around the lake, feed the geese, make your kids run in the playground and then have a lunch or dinner. Target and Kohl’s, along with other boutiques are close by too.

Plenty of parking.

Fun place to shop, eat and play! Lots of great shopping, yummy restaurants and fun places for families. There are paddle boats, carousel, playground, etc for the kiddos. We’ve enjoyed the candy shoppe, cupcake place, and a few of the restaurants. There’s also a movie theater and other fun attractions

Great place to hang out for a good lunch or dinner. The waterfront is serene and beautiful.

This is really happening place, especially at night. The area around the Rio Lake, looks really mesmerizing, calming and relaxing. You will spot a lot of ducks, swimming and enjoying in the lake. There are multiple restaurants nearby for dining-in, few adjacent to the lake and few are on the same lane/street, connecting the lake. You can find Italian, Mexican, American, Indian cuisine restaurants in this area. There is also AMC movie theater, Kohl's, Target, Xfinity stores in the same street, in case you wanna go there too.
Also, there are so many public parking spaces in this area, that too free of cost, in case you don't find parking in one space, do check that out in the other one. Lot of options are there.
The whole ambience and crowd in this area is so good, that you would never ever be disappointed from me, no matter how many times you visited here.

It's a beautiful place 😍 there is an arcade and a movie theater. Not just that, they have many great food places and a bookstore. Perfect place to have with friends and family or go a date!

First time here and I didn’t even know this area existed but it’s so beautiful. Great walking trail with plenty of things to do for the family, date night or even solo. Lots of restaurants, shopping, movie theater, hotels, playground, etc. It’s a beautiful place and I’ll definitely be visiting again

Beautiful new climbing gym. Plenty of routes, and very extensive bouldering.

Went here and it was genuinely a beautiful place, it's view of the lake or whatever it's called (I'm poor at classifying bodies of waters) is very beautiful (Got some great pictures of the place) its a very peaceful walk. It's not a mile, more like half a mile I think and it's packed on one side with restaurants, it even has a Dave and Busters. The other side was just a carasoul and some spots to sit in and chill. Looking for a good place to eat or take a walk while enjoying nature, highly recommended the place for either. They got other spots like a movie theater, have an Ice Cream shop nearby to enjoy of its hot outside, and there's a side I didn't check out. I do know thought that there is also some shops just ahead of the parking lot close to Lake, like Target, and some others. Whoever goes here, Hope you enjoy. Great place to take the Family. Lots of restaurants to choose from all around the lake. It also has a kids playground and I recently added carousel. On summer nights they have music on every corner and it's pretty nice and crowded. In the summer they also have paddle boats. There's also a movie theater nearby.
