Smokebox BBQ Cafe

So this is our go to barbecue joint that we like. It is smaller and a little more intimate but the food is top notch.

Set in a strip mall it is in a nice location for the hotel guests in the Northland as well as easily accessible from the interstate.

The owner is almost always in the kitchen and behind the counter serving up deliciousness.

The food is a smokier, semisweet barbecue and cooked to perfection. The portions are just a LITTLE bit smaller than I would expect but the food is quite filling. Our favorite is the two meat dinner with the burnt ends and the brisket. The sides are quite tasty as well. My favorite being the cheesy corn.

The staff are all quite friendly and outgoing. Fun to talk to and attentive.

The restaurant is always clean and well kept.

Best steak fries, hot with crisp. Pulled pork sandwich has a good hit of smoke.
Service is mom and pop, folksy and real. Beer is served and limited yet they always have a high octane craft beer. Love the place

we got the air plane and wanted to eat after grabbing our rental car. the first exit out of air port said smoke box. Family ran, and the food was great and it was hot. Sweet tea was so fresh, really good. turkey ,sausage, pulled pork was fantastic, there potato sald is the bomb, steak fries so good.

Really good barbecue! Great deal - burnt ends are delicious and the pickles and sauce are outstanding.

We have ate here on several occasions when staying across the street at the Embassy Suites. The food is excellent. It has great barbecue flavor and they serve you very quickly. The two meat dinner is a large sized portion.

Simply amazing. The food. The customer service. The serving size. The price. My boyfriend and I were thoroughly impressed. I forgot to leave a review yesterday and made time today to come back and finish this. Yes. It’s that good. I’m not from here so it was very refreshing to have such great service. Food did not take long. And it was GREAT

Stopped in right before they closed, but we still received excellent service. Food was everything you want in quality BBQ- succulent, moist and flavorful! The beans and slaw complemented the ribs and burnt ends. Can’t wait to come back!!!
I was going to bring some BBQ home with us on the flight, but we woke up and ate it all for breakfast! If you’re near MCI airport, this is a must stop on your way to or from Kansas City!!!

This location was close to our hotel, the staff was sweet and congenial. The food was FABULOUS! It really made the trip worth it to find some great mom and pop bbq.Thank You to the staff for making the overnight trip worth it for me and the hubby. The portions were perfect.

AMAZING staff and food. Family owned - super sweet and friendly family. The food is delicious and always fresh and perfectly made. I live in florida and when I come to town this is my go to spot.

Great place ! Smells so good! It is inside a shopping center strip mall. Short detour off the freeway. Close to the airport. Great portions. The meats were so tender! Very casual. You will see people taking a lunch break or travels who just landed. There is a bar. Lots of TV's set on sports. Drinks are self serve.

Food came out fast and was great! I ordered the two meat plate with brisket and pulled pork. It came with baked beans, coleslaw, fries and two slices of bread. They offered to substitute onion rings for any one of the sides. Recommend this place to anyone that enjoys barbeque.

As a Kansas City local, I’ve got to say SmokeBox BBQ is a knockout spot. The other day, my wife, daughter, and I dropped in for some eats, and boy, were we impressed. The place was spick-and-span, creating a real cozy feel. Now, let’s talk about those BBQ pork ribs – they were the bomb! Smoked to perfection, these ribs were so tender, the meat just slid right off the bone. But it wasn’t just the grub that made our day; the folks working there were top-notch. Friendly, quick on their feet, and always smiling – they made us feel like family. All in all, SmokeBox BBQ is the real deal for anyone craving some genuine Kansas City BBQ goodness.

We had Smokebox cater our wedding yesterday of 200 people and everyone LOVED the food! We didn't have many leftovers by the end of the night and people were fighting over them! Amazing food, great service, they took care of EVERYTHING and I would highly recommend Smokebox to anyone! Everyone was asking where the restaurant was because they wanted to go soon! Definitely stop by or order them for your event!

Great little BBQ spot. KC is famous for barbecue and I wasn’t disappointed. I had a great tasting sandwich of brisket and burnt ends with two beers for a great price. Will definitely be back.

Great place to stop on the way to the airport. Glad I found Smoke Box Bqq. Very friendly, quick service, and great tasting food.

Loved the food and staff was very friendly and hospitable. Ate here for lunch before catching a return flight back home, ordered the 3 meat lunch platter (Brisket, Burnt Ends and Italian Sausage) and everything came out perfectly.

Had myself the lunch special ribs with coleslaw and fries. It was absolutely delicious definitely! Will be coming back!
