Montgomery County Office of Animal Services

We adopted our sweet boy Gandalf from this shelter and the staff were so kind and supportive. The cat volunteers are especially nice and helpful. There's free pet food for people in need and we always make a point to donate blankets and extra food when we can.

Excellent place to take your puppy.

Admittedly, the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center is a public bureaucracy in all ways possible (and similar to MD DMV) including arcane procedure, waiting times, and phone menus that that keep you running in circles. That said, this is an incredibly modern and sophisticated facility. The staff are very caring and professional. Your dog or cat will be in good hands. No question about that.

Clean, nice , cages kinda awkward, can't really interact with dogs or play with them, sometimes have to wait a while. Adoption staff very nice.

We adopted an older cat that had been at the shelter for over a month and are very thankful to have provided him with a loving home. We went three time, once for visit, once for filing adoption papers and the last time to pick him up. Every time the service was good and I was very satisfied.
I have read the other reviews and I don't know why there is an issue if this is a kill shelter. In a perfect world there would be no kill shelters but what do you expect a place to do when they run out of room? I would not give a negative review based on that. I have faith that this location is doing it's best with it's limited budget.

I love donating towels & rugs here. The staff is always professional and pleasant. The animals appear we kept. The facility is huge, inviting and clean, all of which is heartwarming and appreciated.

Staff/counselors are very helpful. Sadly, more pit bull mixes than any other breed mixes.
