Mountain Island Lake Park Access

Very peaceful with 1 1/2 mile walking trail. Nice spot for fishing and relaxing!! 🌳

I love all of the accessible areas around the lake, with no particular favorite. I'm actually right below the dam now🎣😁

Great walking trails! There were a lot more trails than I expected. I'll definitely be back. This has become one of my favorite parks to walk.
I actually like these trails a little better than the White Water Center, but they're not as challenging or uphill.
If you're a runner some of the trails have a lot of roots that make it hard to run for some people. There is a gravel trail too, but we did one of the wooded trails.

Nice, enjoyable place to go to enjoy the river and the surroundings. 2+ mile flat, level, all-weather trail along the river (old single-lane roadbed. AMPLE places to fish all along it, as well as a fishing area where the dam releases water. Historic dam by parking. Playground by parking lot as well as benches and picnic tables. There are multiple benches and picnic tables along the trail, as well as places to access the water (Catawba River / Lake Wylie). MULTIPLE mountain bike trails.

I love the trail system here. Huge props to Tarheel Trailblazers for the upkeep. It's nice that the river can be accessed all along the trail for fishing too. However, lately, people have been absolutely disgusting and rude to the trail keepers and whatever staff empties the trash bins and keeps it nice. I've had to call people out for leaving used diapers, food bags, and just garbage in general. I wish more people would treat the park with more respect and the park would probably get more funding and nicer amenities.

Great place to walk your dog in Summer, there is access to the river to cool off.
My only gripe are the inconsiderate people that leave their trash, fishing line and hooks, for others to step on, and pick up.

Lots of people here when weather is good! Lock everything. Even if you cannot get in the water, it's a great place to get fresh air and people watch!

Very cool 1.5 mile hike under a canopy of trees, with lots of little trails going to the water in case you 4 legged friend wants a swim!

It's a good place to fish by the dam, or below on the rocks. Theres a playground nearby for kids to play.

Needs restrooms for adults and kids other than that, this is the idea location for a great family outing, biking, Fishing..

Great place to walk or fish. Brought the family and had a picnic on the water.

The best trail to walk in Mount Holly. Walk along the Catawba river and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.

It has a large parking facility that has good fishing pier it's a good place to go fishing and it's free !!!!

One of my favorite places to walk, especially with our dog. Usually not crowded.

Great spot for fishing. A lot of boat and jet ski traffic though.
