Came here to meet with a potential client. They told me this was the spot to be at. It did not disappoint!

Portions are insane! And the food tasted great.

I got the Big Mel Sampler and the Southern Snack (Red Beans & Rice with Jalepeño Cornbread). They got the Po Boy and it was HUGE!

9/10 would come back.

Delicious and great atmosphere! The music was up beat and very eclectic.
We enjoyed it! Gonzalo was the server and he was fantastic. He was kind, efficient, responsive and the service was quick.
We ordered the Bayou Balls, as an appetizer. I ordered the pot roast w/mashed potatoes, blacked eye peas and yams. My daughter got Chicken & Dumplins, cabbage, m.p. and okra and my hubby got Buffalo chicken strips, fries, corn and Cajun rice. It was delicious!! Everything had great flavor, was seasoned well and was overall great! The cabbage didn't have much flavor but the rest was on point. The jalapeño cheddar cornbread was just perfect! The peach cobbler was so friggin good! I enjoyed ever single bite!!
Overall, a very good experience. I will def be back and def recommend.

Another go to when I get on that side of town, a long ways from Weatherford but if I'm going to be there it's great to have good food. Coming back from the dentist, I need a great soft food. Meatloaf, carrots, mash potatoes, and greens did the trick.

Awesome spot for po boys in DFW, prices and food are great. Come check em out!

Really enjoyed the drinks. The roast beef is amazing. The wings were awesome, although they are little, they are really tasty and I will definitely order two orders next time. They are delicious and have a nice crisp to them. Haven't been to this place since I was in college and so glad I came back to try it again. The hurricane is really good, and the Yo Mama drink was awesome.

Roast beef po boy or by itself is still awesome. Chicken wings are still crunchy and delicious!

We had a great experience at Po Melvin's the food was delicious and the staff were all so so nice! The drinks were incredibly strong and they took us a while to get through! I would definitely go back here again!

The menu says it all. You don't find these food choices in any other nearby restaurants.
For lunch, keeping it light, i ordered blackend cat fish, and garden salad. Fish was cooked to perfection, I cleaned my plate. Great food great service!!

This place is by far one of the top best in DFW. The owner and our waiter (who has been there for many years) gave us the most outstanding experience. The food is never disappointing and then black eyed tonight were the best! The shrimp that I got to try, I’ll be back to eat. 😄 My favorite is the roast beef.
Hats off to our waiter and the owner for making our dinning experience awesome! Your employees are always on top of it. Y’all continue to be great!

We recently celebrated my husband’s birthday at Po’ Melvin’s. It had been at least a decade since we had been there due to relocating. But we have always loved it! Melvin catered our Wedding Rehearsal dinner.
Our most recent visit was amazing! The food and service were 2nd to none. HUGE shoutout to Cindy and Darrel (#2) for their incredible service! We had a group of about 25 and they were so accommodating. Always willing to help and serve with a smile and great attitude.

Hands down!!! Food was amazing!! Seasoned to the T🙌🏾 I got the fried pork chops with brown gravy & mashed potatoes. With some black eye peas, and jalapeño cornbread. My bf got grilled fish and something, but we’ll be back.

Po Melvin’s is one of our family’s staples! We love everything here. Favorites include chicken fried steak, red beans and rice, chicken and dumplings, fried okra, bayou balls, jalapeño corn bread, and bread pudding.

Staff is very friendly! Remodel looks great. It’s always clean and fresh looking inside.

Great spot for family dinner or to catch a drink at the bar. Does not disappoint!

Hospitality AMAZING. Greeted by the owner himself, Melvin Jr and was so genuine and kind. Gave us a sample of some of the best black eyed peas I have ever had, shrimp from Louisiana, and pot roast with rice to die for. If you haven't been here before you are keeping yourself form a taste buds Heavenly delights. Give it a try. I knew their Chicken Fried Steak was good but I had no idea the rest of the menu would blow my mind. Get out and get to Po Melvin's. Best decision ever!!!

My family and I had dinner tonight (12/03/2023) at Po Melvin's. Service was very attentive and speedy. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, the portions are generous and above all the food is delicious. Absolutely, comfort food at its best! Thank you to Zion who was super polite and accurate with serving the food and our waiter Daniel that didn't let our drinks run low.

I absolutely love this restaurant! The gumbo is delicious, the cheese fries are awesome, and the fried shrimp and catfish are my favorites! Their catfish is so fresh, and it doesn't taste muddy or dirty! The cornmeal battery gives it the perfect crunch! The staff is always soo nice, and really friendly! I most definitely recommend this restaurant!

If you come here, come with an empty stomach because the portions are extremely large! What sets this place apart from other restaurants is the customer service, Darryl and Alisha were professional, efficient, accomadating and friendly. Thank you for the experience.

This restaurant is AMAZING!!! The service is so friendly. The atmosphere is cozy and feels like family. The food... OMG! THE FOOD IS OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD!!! It tastes as if you are at your grandma's house and she made it your favorite way!!!

Great food, great service. Roast beef and Chicken fried chicken is always our favorites. We no longer live in the area but its worth the drive.

If you want a taste of New Orleans without having to actually go then this is your place! I had the chicken fried chicken with dirty rice, mashed potatoes & black eye peas. Absolutely delicious. I will be back!

Their food is ohhh so excellent!! With New Orleans cuisine deeply embedded in my family, I can honestly say it was really good!! We ordered the Porkchops, Collard Grn, Mashed Pots and Gravy....very good. The Porkchops were made to order and tender!! The Catfish, Beef Empanadas and Colossal Shrimp were great! I added my usual Lousiana Hot Sauce and Pepper Sauce to add some kick!! Melvin is EVERYTHING!! He and Melissa were extremely accommodating!! Dont miss out on a touch of Louisiana in Texas!! My absolute fave was the Red Beans and Rice!!! So yummy!!
