El Maguey Restaurant

I am new to working in Elgin. I was driving in downtown and thought I would try this restaurant. I am so glad I did. I ordered the lunch special which includes tea. Everything was seasoned well. It was a lot of food. The relleno was crispy which I liked as opposed to the softer egg batter. They had a hotter salsa which was really good as well. I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to bring my family and friends here.

We went there to hear the Shop Dawgs. Music in the Park had gotten rained out so they moved it to El Maguey. It's been a long time since we have been there. They have really freshened up the place! I had the chicken fajita nachos and they were very good. Our server was very attentive and she even made me coffee! Of course the music was awesome as Shopdawgs are one of our favorite bands. They rocked the house!

The food was really tasty. I'm used to great Mexican food from Houston, so I was very surprised to find the food so good in a small town. The salsa was better than almost anywhere that I can get in Houston tho. Mildly spicy and super fresh. Chips made and not from a bag. The fajita burrito was fantastic. Definately will come back on my way through here again

First time visitor with my wife. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Every dish served was a delicious homemade style. Food arrived in decent amount of time. Spoke with manager and complimented him on his fantastic serve and food. Both my wife and I enjoyed everything. I open carry here in Texas. And being armed was never questioned or an issue.

The burrito smothered in queso was delicious. The building is old and historical, which is awesome and worth a look, but the decorations are a mix of random things and there was no music so it lacked ambiance which is the only reason I rated the atmosphere as less.

Had the daily special. It was quite yummy - chalupa, taco, and queso. It also included a tea. Had a late lunch so there were only a few folks there, service was excellent. Will be back!

This is a nice gem I didn't know about when I come to Elgin. Food was great and taste even better that it was well priced!

We recently moved to the area and are so pleased to find this restaurant in the heart of Elgin. Loved the food and Margaritas, great friendly service, and very pleasant atmosphere. The extra parking in back was a bonus!

I love my cheese enchiladas and they were the closest I found in Elgin to compare to Mr. Taco in Luling. My all time favorite. I live in Elgin now so El Maguey has got my business.

A little dark ,but great place to eat and service Was great

First time coming here with the hubby & it did not disappoint. Hubby had the migas and barbacoa tacos & said they were delicious, coffee was really good as well. Now I am very picky with my menudo but decided to give it a try & OMG it did not disappoint, I really liked it, very good flavor & the size was perfect. The servers were really nice & friendly. We are definitely going to come back!

friendly staff, I love the owner, Juan, he is a great guy. I had a margarita and some chips and dip. Great bar, nice t.v.'s to enjoy sports and great good. you will enjoy the roomy atmosphere. Juke box jams loud tunes too. separate bar area and dining area. excellent for families or friends after work.

It was an amazing experience. The food was incredible and the service was excellent. It feels nice and homie.

I have been here for breakfast and dinner. Let me just say it's delicious. It reminds of a restaurant from old East Austin. It's not Tex-Mex it's not Mexican. It's Austin Mexican food. Prices are more than reasonable and worth every penny. We will be here again. Enchiladas are recommended!

Woke up with a craving for fajitas, El Maguey is walking distance from my place. I have yet to be disappointed here! and my son and I had some amazing conversations with the Waiter from Pennsylvania there. :)

I've had better margaritas, but the service was outstanding and the food was good. I'll definitely be back.

First timer here but food was excellent and so where the prices. Everyone got something different and it was all good. Will definitely stop by again when I'm the Elgin area. Would recommend if you have some time to waste and need a nice meal

This is becoming one of my favorite places in Elgin. Good food that the prices have not been raised ridiculously. Also very good service.

We enjoyed our dinner and thought the chips and salsa were delicious! The guac was fresh and tasty. Their margaritas and draft beer were on point too. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back next time we are in Elgin.

The service was excellent the food was delicious this was our first time they were go there we're thinking of moving to Elgin from Austin but we thought we'd try it out so I give it a five-star
