Johnny Reb's Dixie Cafe

Great food and that's the main reason to eat out. The service was slow and difficult to get the waitresses attention for a water refill and napkins. The diner shows it's age with a lot of wear and tear. Portions were large and the Catfish and chicken fry tasted hand breaded.

We decided to try this place out as we were traveling through. I have to say that I was not disappointed! The food was excellent and it was huge portions at a very reasonable price. The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. Just a nice down-home atmosphere. Very relaxing and pleasant. Now that I know about this place, I will keep it on my radar for the next time we are traveling through. I don't typically do reviews, but this was worth taking a little time to do one.

Stopped by halfway through a 5 hour drive and the country fried steak and sides were just what I needed. The staff were very friendly and attentive and it was the break I needed on the road trip.

When we arrived, we were seated right away. We had our granddaughter with us, so the waitress asked if we needed a high chair and brought one to us. we were served cornbread and rolls before we ordered, which were nice and fresh. I ordered the cheeseburger with fries and the orderwasoutfast. The burger was a nice thick handmade patty. The veggies were fresh. The bun was so soft, and I had plenty of fries to share. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. This is our go-to spot when we are in the area and we really enjoy it.

First time and everything was wonderful. Chicken salad homemade and very good. Husband loved his chicken fried steak. 😋

We go through Hearne every few months, first time to stop and eat, so glad we picked Dixie Cafe, food was very good, and our waitress couldn't have been better. 5 stars for cleanliness. Will make sure we're ready to eat when passing through. Wished we had this place in Livingston...

Very professional &attentive staff!!! Service was great & the food was great as well. This is our new go to place. We've been sleeping on this Dixie Cafe!!! We were so satisfied withour meals!! We both had Steak & Shrimp Plates... 💯

The waitress took care of our all our needs. The food came out quick and hot. Oh my, the black-eyed peas tasted just like my mom made them. Home cooking the its best! Wish we liked closer and could go more often.

The food was amazing! We got an appetizer sampler with jalapeños, zucchini and potato poppers. It came out hot. We had the chicken fried chicken and that too was amazing! Breading to chicken ratio was spot on.

We ate chicken strips with mashed potatoes and corn and it was great! The corn bread was delicious. We couldn't finish it.

Awesome food and service every time! Our family loves coming here whenever we are in town!

Staying at a hotel down the road from there and the girls at the front desk recommended Dixies Cafe. They said try the beef tips and rice or the chicken fried steak. I was in town for 4 days so I tried both! Both were excellent! The girls running the front end of the restaurant were very friendly and very sweet and I did not have to wait at all for my food! Would definitely recommend this place.

Nice clean, Cafe. The staff was welcoming from the door and throughout the meal. The food was good, and we would recommend it to anyone passing through Hearne.

Absolutely the best diner I have been to in several years. Marissa was an incredible waitress and her recommendation on sides was spot on. We traveled almost 30 minutes to eat at Dixie Cafe and this will be our go to over college station. Atmosphere is great and so inviting. A definite must visit if you are near Hearne, Texas.

The food was very good! My husband had the catfish and I had the chicken and dumplings. Both very good. Service was fast, perfect if you have kids that are starving from a long road trip.

If you're in the area, please stop and eat! The food is fresh, hot, and tasty! The service is excellent.

Our first time here and we were not disappointed! Food was very fresh and good! On Sunday’s they have a special that includes banana pudding or peach cobbler for dessert! Would definitely stop there again.
