Elkins Depot Welcome Center

You can gather as much as information online about all the places, but a personal advice, and personal perspective from locals, is still the best. The gentleman who helped us, was very accommodating, and knowledgeable, giving us a tailormade advice on what to explore in the area.

The Tygart Flyer is amazing!!! They provide lunch and it is a super trip, you get to stop at the High Falls and get to get out and check them out up close and personally. It is a smooth ride and long, you definitely get to have a wonderful ride. The depot is a great place to visit and purchase items dealing with trains.

What an awesome spot. We drove by and I had to come back. Next time taking thei train. Staff super friendly and helpful. Very quaint place with alot of history. A must stop. Local shops near by. Easy in and out also has alot of information about local spots, restaurants, and things to do.

If you are seeking a spectacular train ride, this it! Diane, in the Parlor Car, was gracious, patient, and very friendly! The customer service was through the roof, and the food could not be beat! Awesome experience! Give it a try! The scenery was beyond compare! No where else in the world!!

What a cute little spot. Downtown Elkins WV is great for all ages. Plenty to do and see. Go hiking on the trails, fishing the trout streams or tide on the historic train.

My friend and I recently took a trip to Elkins WV because his son lives there and he was telling us about the train that that takes you up in the mountains and it takes about 4 hours and since I have never been on a train before, he thought that we should check it out, so we did. The train boarded at 1045am and it was my birthday and my friend and I took the trip. It was a very enjoyable trip, the fall colors were very spectacular to see and experience. We were served lunch on the train and was very good. The train went thru a tunnel as part of the trip. At the end of the first part of the trip we went to "High Falls" and it was a real waterfall an there were several overlooks that you could see the falls an take pictures of and we had about 52 people in our train car. There were 4 train cars for the remaining passengers to sit to go on the trip with us. We got to see the 2 locomotive engines to uncouple and move to the other end of the train to take us back to Elkins. It was an enjoyable trip and if I am ever back in Elkins WV, I will take the train trip again.

You will always be greeted with a smile and you will always feel welcome! The staff is always kind and helpful; and the depot has a lovely gift shop and lots of information and brochures to help you plan your next adventure. The Polar Express train excursion is a lively, fun adventure that appeals to the child in all of us! A most memorable and joyous adventure!

Have a blast here. Have gone on the Polar Express for the last 3 years. Very child friendly and the best elves ever. Plan to go next year. I'm 100% satisfied with every aspect of the Elkins Depot.

What a hidden gem to us!!! This was such a cool experience to see Elk up close and personal and experience nature at its finest. The Depot was so clean and all employees so helpful and friendly even though it was PACKED.

Beautiful little town and very knowledgeable gentleman , and lady we talked with for a long time, at the welcome center/ visator center/train station lots of knowledge of the area .it is on my bucket list to ride the train and see more of the area.

I loved it here!! Shop had a good variety of choices to choose from people are very friendly here. There were a couple shops outside too

Wonderful shopping inside depot. Lots of information on WV Attractions. Friendly staff in entire depot. A fun excursion for WV residents and out of state visitors.
