Smoke on the Water BBQ

Wonderful food and relaxing atmosphere. Service was excellent. Even though the outside dining room was full, we felt as if we were the only diners.

It always smells great when you walk in, like a smokey cinnamon. Clean and woodsy. Service is great and friendly. Food is excellent! Spinach salad with salmon is my favorite, hubby loves the burgers. Hushpuppies were soft and sweet.

We enjoyed the Magoo Burger and the fried green tomato BLT. Both were delicious, great service, great atmosphere and plenty of outdoor seating. There was a good selection of beers on tap including craft beers. We stopped here for lunch coming back from vacation. Would definitely stop again if we were in the area.

What an unexpected and pleasant surprise to find Smoke on the Water BBQ. We had the absolute tastiest food around. The shrimp and crab dip is the best I've ever had. We had never had smoked shrimp before and I have to say they are awesome!

I had the veggie fried green tomato sandwich and my husband had the Magoo burger. Our sandwiches were big, tasty and very satisfying.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very laid back and welcoming. The restaurant is super clean and the staff is super friendly. You can eat in the restaurant or outside on the deck. This is a must stop restaurant you will not be disappointed!!

The food was exceptional! Loved the outdoor seating!❤ great way to spend my 82nd birthday. Have eaten here many times and never disappointed.

We had a really nice meal and our waitress was really nice. We had the stuffed hot peppers for appetizer. The were delicious and spicy! I had the brisket dinner and my wife had the half rack of ribs. We both had the cole slaw. I had the bbq baked beans and she had green been almandine. Everything was really tasty. They also had a great variety of hot sauce to savor with your meal. We had no room for dessert! We were able to sit outside which was nice, quieter and our table was right beside a beautiful stream the outdoor weather was a bit rainy, but they have a huge covered outside seating area. Was a really good smoke house and we would go back again!

Great food and really decent prices. Pet friendly. Sat on the porch with our Yorkie. The ribs were tender and easy to get off the bone. Sweet potato fries were a plus.The server was friendly and attentive bringing our pup a bowl of water. Really a nice place to eat and relax on the porch. Inside of the restaurant was really nice also. Will go back in the future .

Our food was amazing but what made our entire experience such a pleasure was our server, Cheyenne! From checking in with us throughout our visit in an timely manner to having a conversation beyond just “do you need anything else” or “can I refill this for you”. Cheyenne is truly an asset to your business as she went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience. Though we are from out of town - I know when we return next year, we hope to see Cheyenne again and have her be our server. Thank you so much for an amazing experience!

Very attractive decor. Smoked chicken wrap was excellent as was the Magoo burger that my husband ate. I enjoyed the house potato chips that were a little thicker and extra crispy. Then the raspberry cheese cake was the best I've ever eaten!

Went on a Saturday afternoon when things were slow. Service was great. I got a half rack of ribs with beans and Mac and cheese and a side of hush puppies for the table. I felt like the sides could have been a little larger. Ribs come un sauced and they deliver sauce in chilled bottles in a 6 pack carrier. Ribs were bite off the bone and not fall off which is great! Not over cooked. There is an outdoor patio that overlooks the river adjacent that I will check out once the weather warms. Would recommend to anyone.

Smoke on the Water BBQ is excellent!! As a Kansas City Native and BBQ business owner, we are always looking for a good BBQ joint to visit when traveling. In West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia we have not found a BBQ Restaurant that meets our expectations when it comes to BBQ. I can honestly say that not only did the food meet our expectations BUT, it exceeded them! My husband smokes the best meat I have ever had and Smoke on the Water is right there with his BBQ. We started out with our normal burnt ends and Smoke Trout Dip as appetizers. The burnt ends were some of the best we have EVER had! They were burnt perfectly, and were still tender, they add their house made mild BBQ sauce to it which is excellent! The Smoke Trout Dip came with butter toast and english cucumber, the dip had alot of flavor highly recommended for trout lovers! My husband had the brisket and it was amazing, tender, juicy, and full of flavor! I had the pulled pork, it was seasoned perfectly, and moist. I had french fries as a side and they were seasoned nicely and crispy! Their servings were large and we left with leftovers! They offer a Carolina sauce which my husband said was good, a mild BBQ that was similar in taste to a sweet Kansas City style BBQ sauce, a spicy BBQ sauce that was like a regular Kansas City BBQ sauce. All three are house made and excellent in flavor. We ended our meal with a warm brownie and ice cream. The brownie was so moist and had bits of chocolate chips in it, topped with vanilla bean ice cream, and drizzled with caramel. All the food was excellent! Jennifer was our waitress and she was awesome! The service we received was hands down the best we have had in a very, very long time. They are extremely lucky to have such a great server!! Our experience at Smoke on the Water was excellent and we will return the next time we are in town for sure!!

Fabulous atmosphere and we loved the outdoor deck for dining. I had the smoked 1/2 chicken with white BBQ sauce and it was AMAZING! The friend pickles were spot on with a fabulous thick ranch dipping sauce. My son's smoked brisket sandwich was phenomenal, absolutely the most moist and flavorful brisket either of us have ever had. Our server Kayla was OUTSTANDING! This is a must try when you're in the Elkins area!

A beautiful place to visit, Staff is friendly and the food really good. I recommend their Steak, bbq ribs, pulled pork and brisket. I just recently tried the stuffed sweet potato. Loved it! You can sit inside or outside on their deck. They also have a bar you can sit at. Their menu isn't very big but it's packed with lots of good items. The items in the picture...Stuffed Sweet potato with a side of house chips.

Great place to eat. Plentiful food, fast service. A place the locals hang out so they see something good. Glad I found it.

Pleasantly surprised. We got the burnt ends and ribs. We normally get ribs at a BBQ place to see if it's bbq that we like or not. These were the best we have had in a long time. We liked that they used dry rub vs wet and they were cooked perfectly. The selection of sauces were good as well. Had spicy for my husband and mild for me.

What a beautiful setting for a restaurant! Nestled back on the edge of the woods with a stream behind it. Delicious food and wonderful staff! Thank you for allowing dogs too!

Bbq platter was awesome. River sauce was great. Coleslaw was ok, mac salad was really good! Loved the atmosphere! Everyone was super nice!

Pet friendly BBQ joint next to the river! Food was delicious, especially their sauces. We ended up buying one to take home. Great vibes all around and stellar service.

SotW is worth the drive to have a special BBQ dinner. We were staying in Canaan Valley for Summer vacation, and I finally talked my wife into driving down here after 5 years! I got wings, smoked half rack of ribs, mac-n-cheese, and BBQ baked beans. The wings were smoked without sauce, and the server brought a carrier with 5 different sauces: mild BBQ, spicy BBQ, ketchup, Carolina BBQ, and River Sauce (tangy vinaigrette with red chili pepper seeds). The freedom to have one bite with different sauces made the experience enjoyable. The smoked ribs were tasty and had BBQ sauce lightly coated, so more/different sauce could be added. The Mac was some of the best Mac I've had in a restaurant, not greasy but decadent. BBQ Beans didn't look like baked beans, but were and were tasty with tomatoes and peppers cut with them in the BBQ sauce. My partner got the Cuban, which is her favorite. She said it was authentic with an Appalachian take. In all, I can't wait to talk the rest of my family to ride 30 minutes to try this place next year, especially because the drive is so beautiful makes the trip not so off-putting. And the cocktail options are enticing to spend a little more time there next go round! 😉🍹

What an awesome bbq venue!!! The ribs were perfectly prepared. The outside seating area adds to an enjoyable dinner. The physical setting is very inviting. The wait staff are very friendly, and most accommodating. We traveled to specifically dine there. The delicious food choices do not disappoint.
