Custard By The Dam

Friendly staff, clean business, I noticed lots of hand washing when we were there which I always appreciate! A great spot for a treat that’s priced right. I would recommend if you’re in Rockford you should try this place.

We went on a cold weeknight and it was still a pretty popular place to be! We didn't have to wait in line, but they had a lot of customers pop in while we sat there and ate our icecream. They have a ton of options for not just icecream, but also custard, cones, flurries, etc. You could please anyone here. Everyone in my 8 person family enjoyed the icecream that we ordered. Overall a very good experience.

Great place. Ashby's ice-cream is awesome, plus they have tons of dairy free and vegan options. Beautiful location near the dam.

Best ice cream shop in Rockford! They serve premium ice cream and have an excellent location with views of the dam. My favorite treat there is the Amaretto Cherry Hard Serve in a homemade waffle cone :)

Friendly service and great frozen custard and cone choices.

My daughter has a love hate relationship with dairy. She loves to eat it then she hates the way it makes her feel.
She loves talking bike rides to Rockford to get her custard. The staff is always so kind to her, taking the time needed to get what she wants. They listen and wait for her, not interrupt and ask me what she wants. They are always willing to check labels and ingredients for us. Never have I had a staff member be rude or annoyed with anyone in my family (and that is saying a lot). We will continue to come and support this small business!

Adding in that the ice cream is amazing. They have soft serve, hard scoop, non dairy options. They have cookies, chocolate dipped bars, homemade cones, they truly have something for everyone! And right off the trail!

This is such a great stop along the White Pine trail with the family. Just outside you have lots of bike racks, the dam to walk, sometimes outdoor music, just such a great atmosphere.
The ice cream was great and will be back on those nice summer days to cool off.

The toffee-tastic sundae was fantastic! I was in from out of town and it was great to grab a dessert and walk out by the dam!

The Ice cream is to live for...yum! The girls that served us were attentive. The ambiance is relaxed and clean. The parking was ample. The back of the store services the river. I would take a person on a date there in a heart beat.

Always good custard or hard ice cream. Also has small selection of kids candy favorites. Super friendly staff even when they are busy. Family friendly and even have a dog sundae 🍨.

I rarely get to have dairy because I'm allergic to dairy not lactose in tolerant. When I walked in last week to see if they had any options that didn't have dairy in them I was shocked they did. They vegan ice cream and they had flavorings to add to it that were delicious! Going again soon.

Like most places right now they are short staffed but are in the process of training a new employee. The wait was worth the delicious custard, and they even have dairy free flavor options!

Authentic Custard. Delicious! They offer all the fixings/toppings and specialty cones, dips, bowls. Can be as expensive as you make it. 😳

Was our first time here and we were blown away by how friendly the staff was. They offer classic candies, popcorn (white cheddar and Smores were delicious), and ice cream. We will definitely be going back!

Great ice cream and waffle cone selection! Friendly staff, full candy assortment, limited seating but if the weather is nice scenic benches right outside near the dam.

Basically the owner Jen is the nicest little old lady, she went above and beyond in making this experience the best. A gem in the rough, a true diamond of an ice cream shop.

Friends of ours son, has some very bad food allergies. You guys were great with having something for him to eat. It was the first time he had ever had Custard!
