Stayed here while participating in a craft show in Tawas over Memorial Day weekend. We arrived half an hour early by accident, and the owner was very accommodating. When he saw us walking around later on, he checked in to make sure we were all set and asked if we needed anything.

Noteworthy pros: the bathrooms and showers are by far the cleanest I’ve seen at any campground. You can tell the owners put effort into maintaining them. Even with children playing, the campground was generally calm and quiet. Everyone was friendly and respectful. I’ve seen reviews talk about the dusty road, but it’s gravel. If you drive the suggested limit, it’s fine. All of the sites have a good mixture of sun and shade. The entire campground was very clean and very nice. Serene and beautiful! Didn’t have a chance to make it down to the river this trip, but we have another craft show over Labor Day and I am glad I booked this campground already, so hopefully I can see it then since I’ve heard it’s beautiful! Definitely will stay here in the future.

This RV park is so beautiful and clean. The shower house didn't have a spot on the floors and actually felt like a home away from home. Super quiet atmosphere to recharge the batteries. The grounds are so well kept. I had no problem with keeping their beautiful grass green and not putting down a giant rug ❤. Good rule to have!! The walk to the river is absolutely gorgeous! They also have a fire pit down there with benches. The first day we arrived we purchased wood at check-in in, which they graciously delivered to our site. They made us feel like we were there to relax. We didn't stay in the cabins, but can say they are super super cute. It's about 6-8 mins to downtown East Tawas, which made us feel like we were in a true "Up north" environment. Just pure Michigan ❤ Thanks for a beautiful 4 days!!!

This RV campground is absolutely beautiful! The grounds are wonderfully maintained.
The hosts were awesome and made you feel right at home.
The bath house is spectacular !! You will not see any other that surpasses this one!
Will definitely make this a regular visit in our travels.

One of the most beautiful campgrounds I have ever stayed in. The cleanliness of the grounds and facilities are very welcoming. Taking a stroll through the woods and next to the river was tranquil and inviting. The owners do an exceptional job and I will absolutely be coming back to stay!!!

This campground is the best quiet destination spot! The campsites are surrounded by trees and there are trails to walk by the river! The grounds and facilities are so clean and beautiful. You can tell the owners care about this place. The owners checked in frequently with us and asked if we needed anything. So close to East Tawas, Lumberman's Monument and many hiking trails. We will definitely be back next year!

We were there for 4th of July, and stayed in one of their cabins. The cabin was clean with everything to make our stay comfortable. The camp host was friendly, and the bath house was extremely clean. The campground has a lot of trees, and the sites feel private. We enjoyed our time there, and will go again.

We spent three weeks camping in July 2022, and this campground was our favorite of all of the places we stopped. The campground was extremely well kept, quiet, and near a river that was absolutely picturesque, like something in a fairytale forest! The owners were great and very helpful with suggestions and information for things to do and see nearby. The cool breezes through the campground were wonderful. We camped in a 26 ft. travel trailer, with full hookups. The site was responsibly level. While there, we took advantage of their clean laundry facility. We even came back to this campground the week after our initial stay to stay some extra nights because we had enjoyed it so much. Definitely a place where we want to stay again!

A great park with plenty of room for big trailers. The owners were fantastic and always making improvements to the park while we were there. The wife and I loved the trails and river. The bathrooms were spotless and well maintained. We will be back, highly recommend 👌 👍 😀

I booked this place back in February for this June. I had to delay getting there by a few days because of my work schedule. The owners were very understanding and accommodating. I finally arrived today, and what a great experience. The owners are super nice and helpful. The campground is in great shape. It’s once of the nicest that I’ve seen. The bathrooms are spotless, and don’t have a horrid smell to them either. It is very peaceful and quiet there too. I fully recommend this place.

This RV park was a great find! Sites are roomy, well maintained property and very inviting! We really enjoyed our stay here and definitely plan to return! The walk down to the river was beautiful and the river itself was beautiful. Thought it was a nice touch they added a bench and fire ring for thosewho might want to use it and the grass was mowed riverside as well. The owners were so nice and helpful and even got us some flour from another camper when we needed some! They are building a few Cabins and have a really nice little pond as well. Nice to go somewhere so quiet and relaxing!

Fantastic gem of a campground. Perfectly located between West Branch and East Tawas. The property is picturesque, and beautifully maintained. The owners are very friendly and personable, always checking to ensure your satisfied. I would highly recommend a stay here. We will be back next year!

We spent the month of August here. Wonderful place to spend the summer. The weather was perfect. The campground was beautifully landscaped and the owners were always working on projects or mowing. Bathrooms were exceptionally clean. Laundry was very reasonable. Not much for kids to do but for us retired people this is the place!

We were so pleased with this campground. It was quiet, peaceful and the owners, Calvin and Jeannie, were outstanding. We booked for a long weekend that began on Friday. Our problems started on Friday night when we noticed that some of our overhead lights were dim. My husband and Calvin began checking the electrical connections and noticed an odor of burnt wiring in the compartment where the charger/inverter is located. It didn't take long to figure out our inverter was failing. Of course, no repair facilities could be found that were open over the weekend so we sat for 2 days trying to determine a course of action. On Monday, the day we were scheduled to leave, we woke up to find the house batteries were completely drained, the refrigerator had shutdown, and the generator would not start. The owners told us our site was available for 4 more days and that they had experienced similar problems themselves. We ended up staying one more day to make repair arrangements, and they refused to let us pay for the extra night.

Our large family group have been camping here for several years. We LOVE it!! Very, very clean and well kept grounds. Jim and Sherry are very nice and keep on top of things. As a family, we appreciate that this isn't a "party" campground, just a relaxing, family friendly atmosphere. I also appreciate that they have a strict dog policy. Nothing is more annoying when you are trying to relax than having a constant barking dog.

Nice park, several full hook up sites, rural setting but well maintained sites and grounds. Sites are generously sized, and mature trees abound, so most sites are well shaded. New owners, Calvin and Jeannie are personable and hard working. Call well ahead of time for reservations. Whittemore Speedway is just a few miles away, we are going to make it to the races one of these years.

Very clean. We went there to camp with my parents. They had a camper. We had a tent. The park was neat and clean, small. Owners were super nice and helpful. Bathrooms were immaculate. I would recommend it for adults only, as there really isn't anything for kids to do, unless they like to hike trails and fish. It's also nice and close to Tawas, around 10 minutes or so.

Loved The Bear Paw campground. The facilities are very nice & clean. There’s not much for kids to do here. It’s quiet and sort of for older folks. We like it like that though. The sites are well kept with mostly sites with pine trees at the back of the sites. It’s close to East Tawas and Lake Huron. We will definitely be back!!

Update: We came back this year! I am so glad that the new owners, Calvin and his wife, Jeannie, are continuing the excellence of this campground.

This is The most Immaculate and Outstanding RV park that we have ever had the pleasure to stay.

The owners, Jim and Sheri, are very hard-working and so helpful. They insure the rules are followed; thereby, everyone has a good time. If you're looking for a drunken-loud-party-place, look elsewhere.

The grounds and woods down to the bubbling river are absolutely pristine. Even the bathroom/showers are beautifully decorated and spotlessly maintained.

Again, thank you so much, Jim and Sheri, for sharing your piece of heaven with us.

Northern Bear Paw is a clean, quiet, well maintained, friendly, tucked away location close to Tawas. From tent camping to large R.V. camping you will enjoy the frounds. There is a little river that runs along part of the grounds with a walking path along the edge. You will also find a nice pavilion, charming decorations and clean, well kept restroom & showers. Not a campgrounds for loud partying into the night but just right for gatherings and fun around the campfire at night. This was our second time staying at Northern Bear Paw Campgrounds and we plan on returning again.
