One of the best hikes I've been on in NH! It's definitely a moderate skill, leaning towards harder rather than easier because there's a lot of incline.

Make sure you have plenty of water and some snacks so you can rest a bit at the summits. If you bring your dog make sure their paws are in good shape beforehand, it's a lot of bare rock so it will wear on their pads.

The views on the top are great, can't wait to do this hike again in the future!

One of the most popular trails in the White Mountains, for good reason. If you don't want crowds go early.

7am on an October Sunday I was the 4th car there, when I finished the loop around 10am there were 100 or more cars filling the parking lot and parked all down the road. $5 parking by machine which accepts card which is cool for being in the middle of the woods.

Alternatively I've also hiked in April after a snowstorm and was one of only 3 people there the entire hike.

The hike itself is challenging but on the easier end for a White Mountain hike. Lots of exposed steep rock slabs. There are 2 separate peaks, each with great views throughout. Took my dog and I just over 3 hours with photo breaks.

Dog friendly, my 8month puppy enjoyed it, I had to lift him up once on a steep section. If you have a small dog you may have to do this more frequently.

Amazing views! Highly recommend!! My boyfriend and I hiked it in 2.25 hours with a couple of stops to sit, eat, and take in the 360 mountain views. Its definitely got some steep rock climbs that are a little challenging. Wouldn't recommend bringing a dog unless they are more experienced hikers. One of the best hikes in the white mountains, can't wait to hike again!

Did the trail in October. Great weather and amazing views! Well marked. Perfect difficulty. Amazing views for most of the hike. Parking was full when we got there at 10am so youll have to park on the road

Amazing trail. Did it myself in 3 hours. Plenty of parking on a Friday. Ticket machine does not work though. Excellent views but steep hike. I wore flat sneakers and was lucky that I was all dry. Lots of dogs off leash, which was nice for us.

Welch Dickey is a loop with several great views along the trail. It’s not extremely difficult or long, and it is a great trail for viewing the fall foliage. When it’s busy, either come early in the morning or wait until early afternoon. I came mid-October on a Saturday around 1 pm: the lot was full (except for one space that I snagged), and there were cars lined up for about a mile down the road. Parking is $5 cash or card.

This is by far one of my favorite hikes I’ve ever done. They were of you for days no matter where you turn there was a picture perfect view. We chose the perfect day in September to hike in Welch-Dickey Loop. Overall the trail is marked fairly well. Did you have to pay to park/permit. I believe it was five dollars. I definitely recommend wearing hiking boots vs. trail shoes. There are some spots that you definitely need the grip of a hiking boot.

A Mix of Challenge and Beauty!

Last Saturday, we embarked on an adventure at the Welch Dickey Trailhead. Our morning started off in a thick fog, but Mother Nature soon unveiled her true colors as the fog lifted by the time we reached the first summit. What greeted us was a picturesque panorama that was worth every step.

However, the trail is not without its share of challenges. Most notably, the large rock slabs that form substantial parts of the route can become extremely slippery. Even though the trail has a moderate difficulty level, a few of my fellow hikers had trouble navigating these slick surfaces and needed assistance. This might be a point to note for novice hikers or those with limited physical agility.

In terms of trail clarity, there is some room for improvement. A few crucial trail signs are missing, which made navigation a bit of a guessing game at times. On more than one occasion, we found ourselves straying from the path. While this added to the sense of adventure, it might pose challenges for those less familiar with the area or those hiking in less than ideal conditions.
To sum it up, Welch Dickey Trailhead is a beautiful, rewarding hike, but it could benefit from some maintenance and additional safety measures. The trail requires a level of fitness and navigational skills due to the slippery rock slabs and the lack of clear path markers. Nonetheless, the stunning views and the feeling of accomplishment make the Welch Dickey trailhead a worthwhile experience for any avid hiker.

This is my favorite hike (so far) in the White Mountains. At 4.8 miles, you feel accomplished but not destroyed. My youngest did it at 6 years old but it was fairly slow. There are a few scrambles, which are everyone's favorite, and amazing views. It's strenuous but doable if you don't mind taking breaks.

The loop is gorgeous! tons vegitations, fungi, conifers to look for. Even though one can probably complete the loops in a few hours but if I were to do this again, I would bring some food/snack to do a mini pinic on the top of the loop as a reward and enjoy the views and the breezes. It's good to reserve extra time to take in the view and relax!

Awesome hike, especially to see the foliage! With regular cameras it is basically impossible to capture the beauty of the views! Takes about 4 hours, and if you manage to find a parking spot at the trailhead it is only $5!

Excellent views & a great hike if you don’t want to travel farther up north and spend half the day on the mountain. I’ve done this loop numerous times (recommend going counter-clockwise). Bring $5 cash for the self pay parking fee, or have an annual white mountain or national park pass. I would avoid the hike in wet conditions, as some areas near the summit require steep rock scrambles.

Really enjoyed the views on this hike
It's actually 2 summits (one is called white face the other not sure).

Difficulty: moderate to difficult
At fiirst I thought it was a 2 mile loop actually more like 4-6 due to the elevation
Not a pure hike there was some climbing involved, there was some straight rocks we had to climb up in a angle [make sure you bring good hiking shoes (omg the struggle is real for me being heavy set)]

Actually left late to catch sunset, trail got super dark but below other hikers helped alot waiting for us. There are two main indicators that help hiking the trail, yellow marker and stone/summit markers. If you do go late make sure you bring a light and some bug spray (certain point there tons of bugs).

You do need a pass to park or what is seemed but didn't seem like it was enforced. There are public restrooms at the beginning which was nice

Really tempted to check out the river when we crossed

Not enough good things to say about this hike. Only took our slow moving group about 4 hours to do. This trail is awesome because you get to do two summits and hike down a ridge-line — goes without saying but great views!! This trial is a lot of fun. Highly recommend hiking this one counter-clockwise, I think the views are best when moving that direction.

One of the best loop trails in White Mountain area. Great views! Its a little rocky and ascending in between but worth the views. It took us around 3 hours to complete
There are a few people who provide guidance and info on the region and weather at the start point. Really helpful!
Take lots of water and some snacks to enjoy at multiple view points

Easy day trip from Boston. Beautiful panoramic vista of NH mountains at the top, and I believe Sandwich Mountain the center piece of the panoramic view. Worth the hike.

Very fine loop over a couple great little mountains, around 2600' each. Come prepared for windy/cooler conditions up high, as you'll be out in the open a lot, with magnificent views in many places. Be very careful in wet conditions! The rock slabs up around the summits get very slippery when wet, so exercise good judgement and wear proper footwear. These are excellent peaks, easy to get to and very rewarding; but as with any hike, pack enough food and water and safety supplies, and warmer clothing just in case. Enjoy!

Fantastic trail. Great views after initial climb. Views 70% of trail time. Good intro to NH white mountains. Go anticlockwise.
