I am grateful Jersey City has this amazing bookstore! I especially appreciate the personalized efforts they put to ensure you receive the book you ordered. And honestly people shouldn’t complain about the prices. This is the type of entitlement that has put us in a situation where we have only one quality bookstore in Jersey City. Wear the old coat and buy the new book!

WORD is love at first sight❤ It is located on a cute block, right next to Hamilton Park. Homey, cozy and neat bookstore with great selection of books in variety of genres. Fantastic children's literature section, offering art supplies and toys in addition to books. Reasonable prices! Sales people are knowledgeable and patient with customers of all ages. Will certainly be back! July 2023 update: new bookshelves galore! Oh, and this is dog-friendly store with a water bowl for your thirsty pooch!

Excellent location right by a park to relax in with a new book. Great but still curated selection of books! Some discounted used books out front. Helpful and nice employees!

I absolutely love this store and I was so happy when they put the one in on Newark Avenue and even more excited when they added another one by Hamilton Park. I wish the prices were a little less steep, but the quality and variety they provide is top-notch

My favorite local bookstore!

I’ve been going to WORD since I moved to Jersey City 5 years ago. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially when I need to order a book for my book club!

I’m a frequent at this bookstore because it’s incredible selection of books and games, devotion to local artists and authors, and their amazing and friendly staff. WORD is also perfectly located on Newark Street - I can’t resist stopping in every time I’m in the area!

i love that word bookstore moved closer to me. on my walks, i like to stop in and see what are the best sellers. they have the store organized very well and even seem to have events. a great store for gifting - they have cards & little gifts in addition to books.

This place is ingenious! Food and books, two excellent things in life that can and should be enjoyed together. Not only that but they have a wonderfully eclectic selection of both, you can easily stumble upon treasures around every corner. Vegan and gluten free options abound with a myriad selection of local, interesting desserts. Walked in on an event they were hosting which gives the place an even more awesome vibe. Amazing spot in the neighborhood ♡

I usually just have a coffee and check out what's new, but to my surprise on this day there was a story time and the atmosphere was great. Nice comfy nook and extremely mellow. I think I'm a regular now 😅

Love the new location, feels like there is much more diversity and a greater selection of books. Friendly and helpful staff with finding books and/or ordering if needed/wanted.

A great community store! They are always kind and helpful and can order anything you need. Does it come in two days? No. But it does come and it's held by the staff for you, as opposed to being chucked onto your doorstep by an underpaid, over stressed Amazon worker.

I love this place. First, the customer service is very attentive and warm. All the booksellers are highly knowledgeable about their inventory and are always willing to help you find something, or suggest something similar. Second, they are very intentional about showcasing BIPOC authors and stories that are less represented in other bookstores. I never fail to find the book I'm looking for, our stumble across something new that I always end up loving. They also have a selection of cards, puzzles, journals, candles and other gifts, as well as a cafe in the back. It's the only place I'm interested in buying my books from!

I absolutely love the place. Quirky independent book store with tons of activities/book clubs/events. The employees are incredibly warm and friendly. My daughter absolutely loves the Saturday story time. Additionally, the cafe has delicious drinks and snacks. If you are a book lover, go here, support local businesses - you won’t be disappointed!

Word has such helpful and friendly staff! Great book store with a broad selection. They have games and other fun things, too. I love that they added outdoor seating in Hamilton park!

Just discovered this spot not too long ago and my last two visits have been amazing. Customer service is also really good. Male ringing me up was helpful and even recommended me some titles after I told him I got back into a genre. Will definitely be returning.
