I am not a cowboy, but I appreciate the ethos. I had been to a handful of custom shops, but felt most comfortable with Brook; he was what I expected/hoped for in a hatmaker. Whether a newbie, like myself, or someone looking for an excellent tool, Brook is the deal.

Picked up my hat today from Brook with a Powder River Hats. Due to typical backlogs we have going today, it took longer than expected, but it was worth it! My head is longer and skinnier than most heads, and it takes forever to break in a typical hat. I’ve been wearing my hat from Brook for 5 minutes, and my 3 year old Stetson still doesn’t hold a candle in comfort. I love the look of my Stetson, but Brook made my PR hat even better. My only complaint is that when I bought my Stetson, I should have just sucked it up and had Brook build me a hat then.

Brooks & co. were a pleasure to work with for my first custom hat. He and his lovely wife answered every question I had, patiently explained how their hats are made, what their process is, and even tweaked and retweaked my hat in store with me until I was completely satisfied.

Brooks is highly knowledgeable, friendly, and won't let you walk out of his shop without being completely thrilled. I only had a loose idea of what I wanted, so he was able to make recommendations for me based on my face shape and what I'd be using my hat for (ranch work). I love my hat and will definitely be coming back for any future needs I may have.

Brook’s passion for his craft is undeniable! He’s equally creative, honest, and respectful and seems to care immensely for his family. From the moment we walked through the door for the first time until we walked out the door with our hat he was patient and helpful. Whether you tell him exactly what you want or trust his imagination, you won’t be disappointed.

Quality and craftsmanship can’t even begin to describe. You are not buying a mass produced hat like one from a big box store you are getting an heirloom you will be proud to wear and hand down to your children or grandchildren.

What a find! I haven’t been to every hat shop in Colorado, but this place, owned and operated by Brook, is as good as it gets. My family has a long history with O’Farrell’s, formerly in Durango and in its time, was hands down the best in the business. Brook cut his teeth working for Kevin O’Farrell back in the day. He learned his craft well and is now a master hatter. He’s honest and his prices are very reasonable for the high quality of his hats. He shaped mine while I waited and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I don’t see any reason to go anywhere else for a fine custom hat that will thrill you every time you put it on. This guy is the real deal. I can’t wait to go back!

This guy will spoil you if you are interested in s great beaver felt cowboy hat. Why pay $450 for a 30x hat that probably won't fit and needs to be broken in. Brook will measure your head from every possible angle and build your hat to fit just you for just a bit more money. A hat and a memory that will last a lifetime.

All my life, even when I was a young boy, I’ve worn a cowboy hat. I’ve always wanted to have one hand made just for me so, I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. And boy howdy am I glad I did. Brooke took all the time I needed to pick out the color, shape, form and size I was looking for. And the finish product exceeded all my expectations! The absolute, best hat company in the world! Brooke is good people, come on in and swap a story or two while he works on hats! Both felt (beaver) and palm leaf hats. When you stop by, ask him how he got started, I dare ya!
