IRON MONKEY SELF DEFENSE

Just finished my 10th class and it is awesome. I joined as a complete beginner with just learning self defense in mind and hoping for a good workout. I found that I am getting all of that, in addition to working on my balance, coordination, flexibility, muscle tone, etc. Its the whole package and it is a lot of fun at the same time! Dexter is a great teacher and can teach anyone at any level. Check it out!

As an update - I'm now in my 5th month with Iron Monkey and I definitely have increased muscle definition all over, and my knees don't ache anymore! This is the longest I have ever stuck with any "workout program" because not only do I get an amazing workout in, but I'm guaranteed to smile and laugh every class with the awesome group of people we have there :)

Dexter is amazing! He sees the potential in me and pushes me to be the best me I can be every day. I am down almost 100 lbs and have never felt better about myself. It is all thanks to Dexter's guidance, encouragement and dedication to me and my well being! Here is to another 100 lbs! I am an Iron Monkey for Life!!

My daughter was really interested in self defense to protect herself. We found Iron Monkey Self Defense and we love it! Dexter Candelaria is an exceptional instructor! He’s professional, takes his craft seriously yet keeps learning fun and upbeat! We put both our kids in his class and have seen immense changes in strength, agility, flexibility and especially self confidence. They’ve been gaining skills noticeably quickly and I’m so proud of their accomplishments! Thank you for all you do Dexter! You’re the best!!!

This is a great experience if you want to learn martial arts. Dexter's fun, friendly and teaches really well. He knows his stuff and imparts those skills to the students. Also love the gym for all the equipment in it. I recommend it if you wanna learn some great kickboxing and also enjoy simultaneously.

I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. I was telling dexter yesterday how this class is helping me with my mental health and helping me to also help get into shape. 😁

Awesome coach, tons of knowledge and experience. He molds classes to the needs/wants of individuals, and is spectacular at pushing his students to come on time, have a good attitude, and do their best. Would highly recommend Dexter for any gender/skill level.

Dexter is the man. Knowledgeable, skillful, friendly and encouraging. His classes will get you in shape and give you the skills you need to handle yourself, in and out of the ring.

A wonderfully welcoming and comfortable place to explore fitness and defense with a range of others whether it's your first day or fifth year. You'll be surrounded by people ready to help with whatever your needs and goals are. I wish I'd found this place hears ago.

Great kickboxing workout!

UNFORTUNATE and REALLY BAD EXPERIENCE. It seems like a nice setup. My girlfriend and I were very curious and wanted to like it and were rooting for this place to succeed in Laramie but Mr. Dexter Candelaria left a very bad taste. My girlfriend and I took the first free class and were very excited and looking forward to committing to this place. We also planned on inviting other friends and family to join the classes. We also enjoyed the workout with the fellow students during the class. But Mr. Dexter was a different story. He seemed to get offended, unsettled and agitated when I simply mentioned that I also did martial arts but ones that are typically not used in popular sports. I don't understand his frustration cause I was very respectful to him and his students and in a way very diligent and eager to learn the new styles he had to offer. He also seemed to be making a pass at my girlfriend venting his frustration about me in the backroom when she went back to return the gloves. Saying things like HE WOULD TOLERATE ME AND WOULDN'T MIND TAKING MY MONEY IF SHE WANTED TO COME. He told her that he would knock me out with one punch, break down my ego and other degrading comments towards me to prove his bravado to her. MY GIRLFRIEND GOT VERY INTIMIDATED, UNSETTLED AND FRANKLY TRAUMATISED AFTER THIS ENCOUNTER WITH HIM. She doesn't want to even go close to that place. Which is unfortunate cause its right next to one of our favorite resturants. This really is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. If this is the way Mr. Dexter treats his customers then I WOULD ADVISE OTHERS TO BE CAREFUL. If your coach gets triggered and intimidated for a simple mention that you know other non-sport forms of martial arts, can't keep his calm and do underhand things like this then I would advice others to think twice before placing their trust in such a person as their trainer.
