El Recreo

This isn’t some fancy Mexican restaurant or a taco joint. It’s a legitimately delicious place to get some good food. Prices are good and portions are outrageously big. This is my go to lunch place when I’m in town and then I end up with second lunch the next day with leftovers.

Service is excellent and they do what they can to make you feel welcome. Definitely a spot to try if you’re looking for a good lunch.

I drive thru this area all the time but this was my first visit to El Recreo. After reading all the reviews I had pretty high expectations and I was not disappointed! I got 2 Tinga Tostadas and a Chorizo Gordita. The tostadas were brought out first, within just a few minutes, and they were excellent. Especially with the salsa verde and squeezed lime juice. Everything tasted fresh and they were very flavorful. The gordita was brought out shortly after. It's huge, first of all. You definitely get your money's worth. Crispy outside and exploding with flavor inside. So good. I will definitely be back again soon!

I ordered the asada burrito to go and it was huge! There was a good portion of meat in there, too. Enjoyed it and the fast friendly service. Good amount of parking in the parking lot, too. Would return again to try other foods 😋

My first time stopping in, ordered a basic chicken taco and pastor torta. All I can say about the torta is wow, I had to go compliment the owner and whoever was working upfront on how delicious the food was while grabbing a to go box for half my food. Bring your appetite the tortas are huge!

P.s. their green salsa is amazing and their red is mild to medium with a really good smoke flavor.

I've been here about 9 times since they have opened, and I love everything I have ordered. From quesadillas, to torta sandwiches, tacos, burritos, and let's not forget churros! I love them all, hoping to try everything on the menu soon. Beautiful place, with amazing workers.

AMAZING FOOD, I’ve had a torta and that thing is huge I ate half and saved rest for home. Hot food everything taste fresh. The drinks are cold and good.. RECOMMEND 10/10 .. I don’t eat Mexican food often but this one beats all of them ..

Best Torta I've ever had! Had the super torta was huge but very delicious! Tacos were really good as well! Would definitely recommend. Very clean place, food taste like authentic mexican comfort food!

I’ve been here a few time and it’s always good. Today I bought 2 vegetarian burritos. Yea you heard me, vegetarian burritos. One was mushroom and the other pumpkin flower(?). Both were delicious. The layers in the burrito are defined. It is not a messy burrito and the burritos are filling. The pumpkin flower(?) burrito flavor and mushroom burrito blend make me want to eat them again and again. Con mucho sabor .

I had a tasty, jumbo quesadilla with half mushrooms and half squash flower and I will return to try their tortas and tacos because that quesadilla was memorable. It's a handcrafted tortilla and the seasoning is spot on.

The tortillas are made in house! On Saturday and Sunday they serve birria. They go the traditional route and use goat meat for their birria. The quesabirria tacos are big so they are $6 each and you have to order consomé separately, which is about $7. They were delicious! Super juicy even without the consomé. Customer service is great and it’s very clean inside.

This was such a wonderful restaurant! We loved the welcoming staff and the great food which accommodated gluten free and vegetarian needs.

They need to warn you about the size of the torta. Lord have mercy, make sure youre hungry because the food is awesome! Will be back to try everything else on the menu!

El Recreo is an authentic Mexican food shop that serves excellent tacos and quesadillas, traditional Mexican beverages and sweets, and gourmet stuffed churros!

I went there for lunch. It's got cheap, huge authentic dishes. I highly recommend the Super Torta and the Horchata.

Of all the good taco shops and Mexican spots in Renton, this one is my favorite. Consistently exceptional with tortas that are massive in both size and flavor, suadero tacos that are an absolute indulgence, and on the weekend they have the pictured Rica Birria tacos served with the soup for dipping. The staff are warm and friendly, the agua fresca is pleasantly sweet and refreshing, and they atmosphere is inviting and fun.

There are a lot of good Mexican spots nearby, but this one will continue to be my favorite and be my go-to. *****
