This is, without a doubt, the BEST shop in the area. The gems are carefully chosen and are very well taken care of - you can always tell when the rocks are happy! They are gorgeous and so reasonably priced... I love this place and it has upped my standards for mineral stores! (Awesome service too, thanks Issac!)

Honest the best gem and fossil store I've ever been in.

This shop has such a wide variety of gems, minerals, and fossils and all and extremely fairly priced. The fossils range from big to small, the crystals of all colors, shapes, and sizes. You could spend hours in this shop checking out everything they have.

The owner was extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the minerals in her store. She was so kind and friendly as we walked through the store.

Right at the entrance to Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock NC is this incredible gem of a stone store! My favorite pieces where the spheres they resemble beautiful planets in the universe.. i bought two 😎🪨 definitely going to visit Doc and his team next time i am in Blowing Rock!

Beautiful store and wonderful owners & employees. I went in to get information for two of my reading students who love dinosaurs. The owners & employees are knowledgeable and passionate about gems and fossils. I hope my students have the opportunity to travel here to see the McCoy Mineral's fossils.

I've been coming to Blowing Rock for years and have always visited this shop. It's a fun shop that offers authentic genuine crystals and minerals. The owner helped me select a stone for a custom ring he made. He was very attentive and informative in helping me pick a suitable stone. I will always recommend this shop to friends or anyone interested in authentic jewelry and fantastic customer service!

Shop is beautiful, knowledgeable staff and the owners are a wealth of knowledge I wish I could even wrap my head around. I picked up an opal ring that I can stop staring at.

We loved our visit. We somehow had missed seeing this place & they’ve been at this location since Jan2020. Great selection of rocks & stones and reproductions. Definitely worth a stop.

Amazing! Doc & his wife were so nice! The wife was so help and let us look at so many beautiful things in their shop, could of stayed in there for hours. We went to their gem mining prior and are getting some gems cut I can't wait to seem them! And what's even better they can ship them to you if you're only up for the weekend.

So much love for this place! We were greeted by an adorable puppy, then shopped some gorgeous rocks and fossils and beautiful jewelry. Owners are amazing folks. Prices are more than reasonable. Definitely stop there!!

While visiting Blowing Rock, NC and searching for a piece of obsidian, we were directed to this shop just down the street from where we were staying. Mr. R. McCoy or Doc as he is known in the area, welcomed us into his shop like an old friend, asked if we needed help with anything specific, so my husband asked his question about obsidian and I began to look around.

"What a find" I exclaimed, as my husband sighed, here she goes.
Amazing jewelry designs, wonderful array of different stones, gems and of course fossils, large and small stones. Everything a jewelry lover and collector can desire. We purchased several pieces of jewelry, rings, earrings, fossil bookends, and one of the best finds a large piece of Buffalo Turquoise, untouched, unpolished, perfect for jewelry making. Sadly, we did not find a piece of obsidian big enough for our project, but the items we found, purchased and the friendly connection we made with Doc, left us so very happy

Honestly, Doc has offers the fairest prices I have experienced with high end, top quality jewelry ever. Wish I had more time to shop, could have found more valuable items to add to my collection. We will return! Highly recommend taking the time to stop by and visit with Doc. Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience Mr. R. McCoy.

Doc and Trina are great, very polite and helpful. I'm a regular at the store and Doc's Rocks gem mine. He is the only one I get my raw gems cut. I highly recommend them.

This is our favorite store in the Boone/Blowing Rock area. They have an awesome collection of amazing finds, with new specimens every time we visit so we can add to our own growing mineral collection. We started as faithful customers of Doc's Rocks with our kids, and not that they're grown we all head to McCoy's. Doc and Trina have helped us pick one-of-a-kind gifts and jewelry over the years. Highly, highly recommend!!

I visited McCoy Minerals this past Friday with my family and have absolutely nothing bad to say! I particularly looked around for crystals and they not only had an amazing selection, but also great pricing! The people working in the shop were super kind and helpful. I love the unique pieces I got and will return my next trip to Blowing Rock.

After stopping at Docs Rocks I had to stop here and meet the Doc they told me so much about. He lived up to the tales and more. This place is truly incredible. We visited after my kids had some necklaces made from gems they mined close by. Doc was very patient and answered all of our question. His shop is filled with beautiful rocks, gems, and fossils. If you love beautiful things, make sure you stop in.

A must stop if you are looking for local and global rock and fossil specimens. The lapidary (making something beautiful out of a raw piece) services are exquisite!

The store is amazing, it has some many stones in such great quality too. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is so friendly and patient while you look and ask questions. I was able to buy a beautiful emerald for my collection :)
