The Oaks literally saved these apartments. Before they bought in, it was owned by the Martin family who thoroughly ran these buildings into the ground and then disappeared.

I wasn’t expecting to see my security deposit ever again while the Martin family was in charge (they were notorious for holding and keeping the deposits for dear life), but the Oaks gave me my entire deposit back so I am indebted to them forever 🤤

Also I trust that they have cleaned up the mess that the Martin family created with these apts

I live there for a year my lease ended the beginning of March. It was under two different management companies within that year time frame. Now that I moved out I was told during move out that I would have my security deposit back within 6-8 weeks. We are going on 10 weeks. I had called several times with no answer left voicemails to never have anyone call me back. Tried emailing them with no answer. At a little over 8 weeks I finally got someone to answer the phone to find out about my deposit. What did they say? They said the manager would have to sign the check and they would call me back. Why hasn’t that been taken care of in the first 8 weeks? Why did it take me calling and calling for anything to happen with my my deposit. It now has been almost 2 weeks later and still no call back no deposit and can’t get them to answer the phone. It’s not like they didn’t have my forwarding address cause it was on my move out paperwork. When I finally talked to them I said I’ll just come pick it up and they said when the manager signs it we’ll call you when it’s ready to be picked up. Now radio silent. This place is a joke everything is outdated smells like cigarette smoke no maintenance maintenance request go unanswered just keeps going downhill. So glad I moved out I now rent a 2 bed fully updated duplex with a attached garage right down the road for almost the same price.

Martins were awesome, when Cushman Wakefield bought these then maintenance calls went unanswered and the buildings began falling apart. Now a new company just bought them and it's even worse, apparently there isn't a maintenance guy anymore. Just today it's below 32 degrees and our furnace popped a breaker first thing this morning and we've been without heat all day. The "Emergency" maintenance call in is just a voice mailbox and we've called over 30 times throughout the day to no avail. Finally at 9pm I went to Walmart and got 2 space heaters for both bedrooms and SURPRISE both bedrooms are on the same breaker. Only apartment I've seen that doesn't give you access to your own breaker box. These apartments are a freaking joke. Been here 3-4 years now and will not be renewing our lease.

Someone posted that The Oaks (formerly High Pointe) saved the apartments from The Martin family and nothing could be more inaccurate! My boyfriend and I stayed there for 2 years and had no issues with the Martins. The place was clean, cheap rent, and maintenance issues fixed in a timely manner. When Cushman Wakefield took over, rent increased while the place became rundown and dirty. Trash was constantly overflowing from the dumpsters (to the point we had people dumpster diving at night). The pool was filled in with dirt right before summer without any notice to the residents, turning it into a pickleball court right before winter. Hallways dirty and lights burnt out. Power was out for 2 full days because they refused to move one of their trees blocking the line for Evergy to repair it. We put in our notice before our lease was up, and cleaned thoroughly upon move out, hoping to get most of our deposit back. After a month of waiting for the check, I called and they said they didn’t have a new mailing address for us. (They did, it was on the move out form.) We got a check for $17. When I called and asked why, they accused us of not paying our last month’s rent. I knew I did because I had to call to find out the prorated amount. They then said the amount I paid was not the full amount,(granted I wrote down and paid exactly what I was told), therefore $200 something plus a $75 late fee was taken out of our deposit. They refused to admit any fault or give any refund.

My buddy lives here, and after visiting his family the other day, I was shocked at the stench of cigarette smoke in the building. Glad he is leaving soon, the amount of trash I saw piled up was amazing too!
