Monte Alban Restaurante Mexicano

What a great delight I found this place while on a motorcycle trip in the mountains of North Carolina.

The restaurant is in a little shopping center right off the main highway that goes through Murphy North Carolina. A little misleading from the outside not a place I would normally go into so to speak in terms of the building, older style building, but not the restaurant. The restaurant was very colorful very clean and the people were very nice very cordial and very provided a great service.

The food was amazingly authentic. I ordered the Carnitas tacos. I did not realize they were going to be three giant tacos and two awesome sides The beans and rice were delicious normally they can be kind of bland but their had lots of great flavor.

The tacos themselves the meat was marinated perfectly the cilantro and the onions and the salsas were delicious. Very authentic just like I’ve had in Mexico.

Last minute date night that was quick and easy and couldn’t have been better. First off, our server Heriberto took excellent care of us by making sure we had what we needed while always having a smile on his face. Our food came out MAYBE 5 minutes after we put in our order and the place was not dead by any means, my meal (quesadilla rellena) was fantastic and came out hot and I debated licking the plate clean! Fried ice cream was for dessert and was thoroughly enjoyed by my girlfriend. We will be back.

I had only been a few times, but the food and service had been great. If you want Mexican in Murphy, this should be your first choice.

I saw so many negative comments about the food and margaritas. The food, margaritas and service was great.

This was our first visit of many more to come. My wife and I are very pleased with the quality of the food, drinks and prices. Martin was a very nice, clean cut and professional server. We hadn't been out in over a year and we had gotten married earlier that day. This was the perfect place to go!!!! Overall, 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for them. Thank you and we will be back....many more times.

My first visit to Monte Alban so I tried something relatively unadventurous. I ordered a burrito and a taco with refried beans and rice. It was delicious and a plentiful portion. Salsa has a nice bite to it in fact I enjoyed four bowls of it. Taco shell was crisp and not soggy like some Mexican restaurants serve, burrito was stuffed with meat. I was pleased and will definitely return to try other menu items.

A Murphy staple. Good food and excellent service. The atmosphere is upbeat and vibrant. Super cold beer.

In an area of the country where service usually lacks, this restaurant greets you, seats you, and gets your food to your table very quickly with a smile. This place had the best service of any restaurant I've been to in Murphy, NC.

Great local spot. The locals like and the out-of-towners appreciate it. Food is good, service is excellent and the atmosphere is fun. Thank you.

Lots of standard Mexican fare done generally very well. The wait staff was attentive and the place was quite busy. It may sound minor, but my complaint is about the chairs and the floor. The chairs are very heavy and when you try to move them they squeal and make lots of noise rubbing on the floor. Since I use a walker, the weight of the chairs is a little difficult to handle and keep my balance.

Adore this place! Friendly, fast staff, great Mexican fare. Awesome cheese dip and very cold beers that come in 32 oz mugs for a great price. I’ve tried about ten entrees so far and liked them all! Great fresh chips and salsa. Try the salsa verde too!

About a year ago, I stopped going here. The good was mediocre and the service was rushed. This visit was very enjoyable. New decor with bright colors in very traditional style. Our waitress was pleasant and well groomed. The food was the best Mexican food I have had since I left Texas.
Check it out. If they maintain this for 6 months, they will need a bigger parking lot.

This was authentic AWSOME Mexican food. The quality of the food was beyond anything I could have expected. I will definitely be back anytime I'm in the area. Do not let the outside fool you. The staff was AWSOME too. All around great visit.

We always enjoy dining here. The food is traditional Tex-Mex and well-prepared. The chicken soup is delicious, but keep it n mind that the small order is a big meal! Service has always been quick and very friendly.

Love the Cowboy Fajitas. Margaritas are excellent !! We eat here at least once a month. Staff is friendly and always helpful.

On our first visit to Murphy, we were really impressed with this pleasant place! So glad it was open in a Sunday night, because many establishments are closed.

The food, margaritas, service and ambience were really great. The salsa was some of the best we’ve had (and we eat at Mexican restaurants frequently)! Delicious chipotle and cilantro. Kudos.

Our server was friendly and efficient, the food came out hot and attractively presented with deliciously definitive spicing (yes, I taste cumin, and those onions are perfectly carmelized, and there’s a bay leaf too).

We enjoyed the margaritas (frozen no salt) too. They were a bit on the sweet side but quite tasty.

This was a fun and yummy dinner, and we absolutely recommend this place.

I took my grandkids here for the first time and we loved it.
