Saxapahaw Island Park

The natural park is a must! Recommended to me as an out of state visitor and it didn't disappoint! The trail was stroller accessible though not super easy. Port a potty in the parking lot was very useful. Outall beautiful park!

Saxapahaw Island Park is a great place to go for a walk. The trail is flat and runs along the perimeter of an island in the middle of the Haw River. Great scenery and lush vegetation, plus there is a great Coffee Shop/General Store right next door.

Nice easy trails with cool views of river valleys and mill.

Easy 1 1/2 loop hike around the island. Also nice playground. Good for kids.

A wonderful little park with great views of the Haw River. There's a nearby mill village, and hiking trails with great views of the river and rapids. A fish themed playground fir the kids too!

The general store within walking distance serves hot food sourced from local farms and has a great beer selection!

I absolutely love Saxapaw Island Park. There's a decent length trail that circles the entire island. There's small beach accesses for relaxation. There's a play area for kids with a fun, giant wooden fish. And there's fishing. It's hard to beat trial walking by a river

This is a very relaxing place to hangout. I'll be back for sure!

The trails are pretty well established though the river is eroding some parts of it. The "fish park" is a family favorite and the large and lightweight bamboo poles and ties make it easy for kids to build structures. We brought rain suits and boots and didn't shy away from the shallow parts. Take a look and see if you can find beaver-gnawed trees or some interesting mushrooms!

Enjoy a nice small hike, as you hike you can enjoy the view of the river. In the summer you can do kayaking, or relax in the hammocks.

It's such a lovely 1.5 mile hiking trail! There are plenty of places to stop to take photos and enjoy the scenery.

Love the walk along the river. Found a way to get to the other side of the road by following the path under the bridge. There are hammocks in the woods to rest and enjoy the surroundings

Super cute, easy little nature walk with a unique playground and some hammocks on the west side of the island.

Great place to take your kids and relax. It's always 10 degrees cooler here because it's surrounded by the river and very shady. There's a fun playground which has nice swings and a nice slide.

If you like to walk, there's a trail that goes around the whole island which is very enjoyable. If you like to fish, there's plenty of spots by the river.

A really cute park, pretty small, nice to do a lap of. Some cool wooden fish play ground. Really special energy at this place.

Everyone enjoyed themselves. Kids loved sticking their feet in the water. The fish slide was a hit. We had a nice lunch and walk! We will definitely go back.

Short trail by the river that is easy to navigate. Small play area that has swings and a large wooden fish with slide.

Great small but innovative playground. The trails are nice. Can't wait to do back and explore the river. Water was way to high and fast today.

Very nice place. Walking next to the river was peaceful. Go with a friend. Not a good place to walk alone.
