At the Ridge

We stayed in cabin 6 which was a quaint rustic cabin on the water with a serene and picturesque setting. At The Ridge offered a unique opportunity to enjoy nature while still having basic amenities. The cabin was clean and had essential appliances like an in wall heating/air conditioning unit, refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. There was also a nearby shower, bath house, and water spigot. We did bring our own sheets, blankets and pillows. The owner Tom was a generous host who maintains the grounds and ensured we had everything we needed.

Tom was a great host who was accommodating, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the area. The campground was very pretty with the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere but only a 30 minute drive to town/activities. Would definitely recommend and come again!

Great place to stay! Everything was as it was described/appeared In photos. This was our second stay and will definitely be back. There is some construction going on with improvements but we weren’t disturbed at all. Can’t wait to see when it’s finished. The creek is beautiful and peaceful. The host was friendly and informative. It really is the perfect place to be if you don’t want to lug everything that comes with tent camping or are on a budget.

Everything is as advertised and was communicated via the confirmation email. No surprises. Great river views - Cabins are right over the river. We want the feeling of camping - while offering basic protection from weather and animals - so this is perfect. Nothing fancy, just a bed, a roof over our heads, and an electrical outlet. Perfect to disconnect and be immersed in nature.. Look forward to returning!

We rented the entire campground to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday here with our friends. Danielle and Chris are great !! This place is very accommodating. Bathrooms are clean, property is dog friendly, & they have beautiful water views from the porches. I will definitely be back. Thank you so much

We love At the Ridge! Great simple affordable GLAMPING right on the river in a beautiful grassy, open sky location. Great service. Comfortable quiet all you need accommodations with great trout fishing right outside your door. We visit often!

Fantastic experience! Good clean facilities. Peaceful serene surroundings and mostly, the level of kindness from those running it was exceptional.

Excellent! Chris & Danielle are awesome. At the Ridge is clean, quiet, and relaxing. Clean property and bathrooms and showers and the camping cabins are too. The only sounds are the very rare dogs in the far away distance, a car once in a while, and the beautiful river. Just an excellent place to escape from everything. We’re already making plans to return.

Absolutely fabulous! Thank you so much for your hospitality! My son and I stayed one night while hiking in the area and only regret not staying longer! We stayed in cabin 2 and are already planning a return trip! Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us! We hope to return soon when the weather is warmer to explore all the waterfalls and swimming holes near by!

I was planning a big camping trip for my family, unfortunately the spot we were initially going to backpack into got rained out. Tom was quick to help and get us a spot we were happy with. He offered suggestions on hikes, and other places to visit. I would definetly stay here again.

Such a perfect little place on the water. Small cabins on the river are the perfect size with just enough to be comfortable. Hot showers in the bathhouse and the customer service is awesome! Great family atmosphere. The riding in the area is excellent! Hoping to come again soon!

At The Ridge is a beautiful place. Small, no overcrowding here. The host family is Very nice. Portapotty and bathhouse were very clean. The cabin was clean, ready and open when we got there. Our family truly enjoyed our time visiting! Thank you!

I had a three day cabin rental for a hiking trip. The folks who operate the campground were friendly and welcoming. One of them gave us great tips on local waterfalls. The cabin had two beds, a table, ac, heat, a fridge and microwave. It was situated on a river so one can sleep to the sound of the water. Also, it had a deck overlooking the river. There was a nearby Porta-let. Bathrooms and a shower were a bit of a walk down the road. Tubes were available for rental. The price was fantastic at about $45 s night midweek. If you are hiking Black Balsam, or any other trails in the Shining Rock area, the location of the campground is great.

The road to the original place we planned on camping was closed, due to flood damage. We came across At the Ridge campground and even though they were at full capacity, they created a new campsite for us. They also provided us with firewood. This campground is family owned and operated. Every staff member at the Ridge treated us like family and they go over and beyond to make sure everyone who's camping there has a great experience. Top notch customer service. Great location. Close to many scenic hiking trails and to the town of Brevard. I highly recommend this campground and will be returning to camp there in the near future.

We can't say enough about how happy we are and that we found this campground! The site on the creek was perfect. The sound of the creek will put you right at ease. The owners are the greatest!! I was having truck problems and he went above and beyond to help us. They are truly kind hearted folks. We definitely recommend this campground to anyone looking to get away from the crazy.

First time camping I had a blast! Highly recommended especially with a group of friends. The staff are very friendly and helpful with anything you need cant wait to come back

We rented two cabins for 5 days. The beds are not Soft but they say they are one step up
From camping. They warned us! The owners are so sweet and they have pigs and chickens and a donkey! It was a great place to stay as we visited waterfalls and hiked. We loved every minute of it! The cabins have electric and a fridge and a heater. They have internet if you go to the porch at the brick house. It was a cost effective and fun visit!! There is a bath house and port a potty out there. The grass is cut nice. There is a washer and dryer but we didn’t use it.

Small, affordable, barebones. Able to get in-laws 44ft, 5th wheel into a site, and easily parked our sprinter van right next to it in another site. Bathhouse nearby and clean with basic amenities. Internet spotty, but community center within a mile has super speed internet. Spring flood certainly did a number on the area but everyone is slowly working on getting area back together. Lots of hunting dogs in the area, you will hear them barking. Very close to Blue Ridge Parkway and lots of great hikes. About an hour to Asheville. Having the river at our finger tips was relaxing.

Keep expectations low and you'll be impressed. Good water access for fly fishing or just hanging out in the water to cool off. About 40+ miles of hiking trails. Nice proximity to falls, Headwaters, Brevard, BRP. Best part is the staff - Dusty could not have been more hospitable, super good guy who's there to help and make your stay 💯. It's not glamorous, but has cabins, tent camping, full RV hook ups - perfect for a long weekend or 3+ nights during the week. Glad we chose to stay here.

We stayed in Cabin 4 for 3 nights and had a great time. It rained the first 2 nights but a 10x10 slant leg canopy fits perfect on the deck. The bath house is a hike but are clean. There is a porta potty at the road right outside out cabin but we were unable to smell anything coming from it. With the addition of a full size air mattress we slept like babies on the bottom bunk. I had to lift my daughter up to the top bunk since there wasn't a ladder but she enjoyed sleeping up top. There is a small convenience store 5 minutes away they sells any and everything you would need but it is cash only. Overall a great place to get away from the world for a long weekend. The best part for me was no cell service for 15 miles.
