Stopped the rest stop to walk a bit and saw this NC memorial. It was a very nice tribute to honor the local veterans who gave their lives to defend and protect freedom. A large walking path, lit at night and the names of vets were displayed on a wall. A nice quite place to rest but mostly to sit or walk to reflect what freedom means & the sacrifice many have given to protect it.

This place was great. We were driving through on Memorial Day Weekend and stopped at the rest area. Was a pleasant surprise to have such a nice memorial at the rest area. Wife and kids enjoyed the walk along the path to get there. You should make time to stop and see this.

This place is such a beautiful surprise on the side of 85!!!! The detail taken to create and maintain this place shows the honor given to those who served in the Vietnam war.... A MUST SEE REST area 💜💜💜

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park was a quiet tucked way piece of history that’s squeezed between the cheeks of the North and Southbound rest areas of I-85 south of Thomasville, NC. It’s so unfortunate that so many perished for such an unnecessary war.

Simple, tranquil and beautiful memorial. Definitely worth checking out and paying respects to North Carolinians who served in Vietnam War. 🇺🇲💜

Surprisingly elegant monument! Very well maintained by the parks department, you’ll find the pathway’s and stairs to be level and flat.

This is a really nice memorial for our Vietnam veterans. Because it's at a rest area it probably doesn't get the attention it deserves. Definitely recommend taking the little walk to see this place.

What an unexpected surprise and amazing memorial. Stopped at the rest area, expecting nothing. Saw the signs for the memorial and decided to stop by and it was so SERENE. Very well kept memorial. I loved the circle and being able to read the names, which made it seem so much more personal. I would love to visit again on my way through.

Great Rest Area. The facilities are always clean and well maintained. This is a great location for walking especially because of the memorial, it’s quiet and there’s a walkway all the way around the memorial itself

The memorial is worth the time to visit. There is a wall of names (North Carolinians lost in the war) similar to the one in Washington DC, but the names are engraved in bricks. Follow the signs as you drive through the rest area.

Very humbling and quiet place in the midst of highway 85. Well laid out and easy to walk or ride in a wheelchair to get to it. There is limited parking available close by if you need to park closer to the memorial.

Very clean and well kept memorial site. There are parking places for handicapped access closer than the rest stop next door. SB, take the driveway on the right just past the regular spaces. If walking, take the brick path just past the tall bushes down to the site.

Very solemn and fine tribute to our fallen. My wife's Uncle is on the wall and I generally take a walk in this quiet still place to relax and gather my thoughts about how thankful I am for the men and women who are on that wall and their sacrifice. Good respite for a few minutes in the middle of my travels.

Beautiful as the other reviews speak with typed words.
Unfortunately I had to experience it with 'perspectives and opinions' of disgraceful people that have been placed into my mind via technology by aforementioned disgraceful and trashy people, some of them the children of Veterans.
When a person can't truly enjoy the beauty of a place meant to serve as Memorial Ground to those who deserve silent homage, because others would clutter the mind of an individual with atrocious voices inside their head, then we know truly that the sacrifice of hundreds of thousands was mostly in vain...

Very peaceful and well designed. Nice walking path and memorial wall. Handicap accessible ramp.

Beautiful memorial-wall of names in ceramic tiles rather than marble. Based on earthwork circle with one entry/exit.

Practical note: memorial is accessible from both eastbound & westbound so you can "lose the car" by walking halfway around & out into the other rest area. If you crossed a bridge going in you must cross it leaving (eastbound). If not, no bridge leaving (westbound)!
