Food always seems to be great here and a really good value. I feel like this is one of Pickens' best kept secrets. If you're in town I definitely recommend stopping by.

My wife and I went for the first time. We got fried fish and it was OK. The vegetables were great. My wife had green beans and I had fried okra and lima beans. We will go back and try there fried chicken.

The cafeteria experience is well enough. I've enjoyed it many times. But tonight was my first time doing steak night and it was one of the best dinings I've had in a long time. The 8oz sirloin was as close to perfect as I've had; succulent and flavorful as well as perfectly cooked. The salad was fresh and tasty. But the service is what really stood out this day was the service. Our waitress was both attentive and delightful. She was anticipative and timely. Overall a GREAT dining out!

This restaurant is not very noticeable from the street but it is worth looking for. The main dining room is spacious and well appointed. Service is either at the table from a menu or at a short cafeteria line. The food is a notch above the typical meat-and-three offerings. My favorites have been the fried fish, which is similar to fish and chips. I also tried the rack of short ribs, which I think are only available on Thursdays. They were excellent. As the waitress promised, the meat fell off the bone. The onion rings are batter dipped with a crust that is thick and crunchy. Next I want to try the fried chicken livers, which I am told are popular. The home-made yeast rolls were excellent. The greens were also good but with too much fatback and salt. For standard Southern fare, the Gatehouse is the best restaurant in Pickens.

I come here regularly and the staff are wonderful. My fiance and I have tried almost every thing on the menu and it was always above standard. The lobster bisque is our favorite. their steaks, sea food and ribs are great. We come here at all odd times and they're always on top of things. In my opinion it's the only decent restaurant in town.

Got the fried green tomatoes, lobster bisque and the half rack of ribs with broccoli and Mac N cheese. Some of the best that I have ever had. I grew up working in restaurants and traveled for years for work so I have a lot to compare it to. Needless to say I have leftovers and the price was great for the quality of food. Restaurant is clean and orderly. The wait staff is professional, courteous, on point and the menu and food options on the bar is well rounded with good selection. I will be a returning regularly.

I love this place. They have great burgers here. I'm the type of guy that has to try the burgers at every restaurant I go to lol. This is actually the first restaurant my wife and I ate at after we got married. She brags about this place ever since

Excellent, excellent food. Wide variety of meals and desserts. Great service. Friendly staff. The BEST prime rib we've had in a long time. Salad was great. Dessert outstanding. Definitely another Saturday evening meal in the very near future.

If you are looking for a local space to host an event, The Gatehouse will not disappoint! This weekend was the second time in the past few months I have been a part of hosting events here. The staff is so helpful with every aspect of planning-- From choosing dates, menu options, setup of space, service of guests and reset of space, you will not find a more accommodating group with whom to work. Crystal (dining manager), and Adam (kitchen manager), and Lauren (guest service/hostess) provided congenial, professional service throughout the entire process. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. Our guests were very pleased with the outcome, and so were my co-hosts and I!

Loved the food! They were very busy!@ Visited Friday night and had their steak. Omgoodness, soooooo good!! Went back Saturday night in hopes of another but it was cafeteria style buffett which was still good.

Met friend for lunch. Got special of grilled cheese and soup. Grilled cheese had 3 different types of cheese. Choice of 3 soups. Selected vegetable. Was nice and hot and delicious. Waitress was attentive. Coffee was very hot and rich. Enjoyed this meal a lot. Clean bathroom too. Will be back.

I'm going to be honest with you right off the top. I have not eaten food at this place so ignore this review if you must, but if so, also ignore Brian R's review. The man seems unhinged. He's upset about paying "almost $7" for his lunch after not asking for the price since it wasn't on the menu. He has started a social media campaign against this place that includes creating multiple accounts on review sites just to bad review this place and a dozen or more FB rants in upstate area groups, which have been removed because he's batty and will not stop. All this over a $6 salad and a quarter for water lol!! I'm trying to offset his craziness. If you made it this far into the review and are still looking for a place to eat, I sincerely hope you find some good eats today. :)

We really enjoyed our meal. The salad was fresh and the steak was cooked just right. Friendly service and a great selection of items to choose from.

Fried pickles are amazing and our steaks were both seasoned so well that they did not need any A1Or anything. Everyone was extremely nice. We will definitely be coming back

Wes ver skeptical about the place when we walked in, the waitresses we're very friendly and I was very surprised by the taste and quality of the food. I highly recommend it!!!

Excellent visit. We came on Saturday seafood night and it was very good. The crab cakes were big and the other seafood was properly cooked and delicious.
