Alex is by far the best CPA I have ever worked with. Having spent many years in the commercial banking world, I have interacted with many CPA’s. Many do great work, but are not personable. Alex has a great communication style and really takes the time to get to know her clients. Trailside takes care of my personal and business taxes thoroughly and efficiently. I can’t recommend her enough. If you work with her one time, she will be the very last CPA you ever go to!

Alex has been a true pleasure to work with! We started working with her right after she opened up shop and have been extremely happy with her doing both out personal taxes and small business taxes. Would recommend 100 times over!

Alex with Trailside CPA is awesome! She is very knowledgeable and makes accounting not so "scary". Her office feels like home, she explains things that seem daunting and makes them simple to understand and she has an awesome personality that makes the process that much better!

I've been calling and visiting this office everyday for three weeks with no communication from the accountant. I don't know if I owe taxes or what. I got on the phone 3 weeks ago and she told me she would call me by lunch the next day and I haven't heard anything. I should have read reviews before taking my taxes to her. I just need then completed or returned to me so I can have someone do them. Horrible communication from these folks. The office is never open. Please call me so I can get my taxes completed. I've even left notes on her door.

Finally got my documents today Sept.6, 2022. She claims she mailed them on August 30, but the postage was canceled on Spe6t w, 2022 which say they didn't get the mail until then. She has excuses for everything from being at a client out of town, being sick, not using text and preferring email over any other communication when she k ows I dint have her email so how could we communicate. I've been by her office several times and she is never there.

Just don't trust that your taxes will be handled professionally.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but Alex told us in an email that she filed an extension for our taxes when actually she didn’t. We were fined by the IRS and SC State. Alex did not take responsibility for her failure to file and led us to believe that she had filed. We requested proof of filing so that we could get the penalties off our back. It was many months of emails and requests with her to no avail. She led us to believe that any day now she was going to send us the necessary paperwork. The penalty letters came instead. Finally we took her to small claims court to get some resolution. We thought we’d hired a tax accountant to save us money, file things correctly and on time and to keep us from headaches with the tax man. I’m sorry to say that our experience with Alex was not the case.

I have had the disfortune of working with Alex for almost a year. She has been completely unresponsive to my emails or calls. When we establish a timeframe she has never met the expectation with the only feedback being "I'm to busy". Her service explanation calls for quarterly meetings which were never done after multiple attempts from my side to try to schedule them. When we came to a Tax deadline she purposefully quits services with 48 hours of the deadline in a effort to effect harm to my company. I would warn that this is the first real review of her service and if you own a business beware she is going to cost you money, find a real professional to HELP your business not hurt it. You know very well your professionalism was not correct and your response is a straight lie, this again shows your level of dishonesty in your service. I hope no one makes the the same mistake as I did by engaging you for your flawed services

Alex Rankin did not return any of my numerous phone calls, emails, or FB messages after I dropped my taxes off to her in April. I also stopped at her office multiple times to see her vehicle sitting out front but to find the door locked and no answer when I knocked. After having left multiple messages with all of my contact information and never hearing back from her I finally resorted to threatening legal action in an attempt to just get my tax information back from her so it could be filed. Every attempted correspondence with her is saved and documented. When I finally heard back from her she said she would send me my documents in the mail and claimed she must have miswritten my number as she had tried to reach out to me. Alas, she had no response when I asked about all the times I emailed her and put my number in the email or the voice messages I left with my contact information. When I didn’t receive my documents in the mail I reached out multiple times again to no answer. I finally threatened legal action again to hear from her that she had sent my documents and she couldn’t be held responsible for the mail service’s issues. She then told me she had copies and I was finally able to secure them from her in JANUARY, a full NINE months after I gave them to her. But, lo and behold, they were the originals, not copies! You know, the ones the mailing service had to have mishandled. As a result of her inaction and unprofessionalism, and her straight lying to me, my 2019 taxes weren’t filed and I took a large penalty as a result. Not to mention all the stress of trying to get ahold of the person holding them hostage. I will never recommend her to anyone. I am severely disappointed in how she conducted business and how she handled me as her client. But the icing on the cake was having the audacity to lie straight to me when all I needed was my documents back and some honesty that she couldn’t get them done.

Couldn’t get her to call back or respond to email, made promises to have work done by certain dates and never delivered, and then lied about working on the tasks. Had access and never even logged in for a year ( yes I can see when you log in to our quick books ). Had the documents needed for a VERY LONG TIME, not February as she is lying about. BEWARE! SHE WILL LIE TO YOU TOO!

One star is too much credit. Avoid this individual. She is unprofessional and has no inclination to assist her clients. Customer service is a foreign concept to her. Read the other reviews, it's NEVER her fault. We chose to take our taxes elsewhere with 3 weeks to filing deadline to avoid another minute of working with her. Sound like someone you want to entrust your finances to?

I don't like to bash someone outright, however, I strongly recommend not hiring Alex for a multitude of reasons. Many of the same reasons posted by others. Look elsewhere. Generally, I just don't use a business again but this time I feel a warning is doing a pubic service to those looking for an accountant.

Worst experience ever! Very little to no communication! Promised to have our taxes done numerous times and never got them completed. Had to hire someone else to complete them and ended up with late fees and interest due to her not filing anything!

Not very responsive to email or phone. She eventually claimed in a phone conversation that she was hacked, her firewall was breached and that she was trying to rebuild. I think it would be wise to search elsewhere for a reliable CPA.
