Kudos to the miracle workers from Best Rate Plumbing Co.

Today they showed up in the drizzle to pull our well pipe and replace a foot valve at the bottom of it that was causing our pump to short-cycle. They did this same task for us 22 years ago. I had already marked the location of the wellhead for them. The job sounds simple enough, right? It is, with the right equipment and experience, until a brass fitting on the pipe you're pulling decides to break leaving a portion of the pipe still deep down in the well.

If they couldn't recover and pull the remaining pipe, the well would be a total loss and a whole new 6" well would have been needed to have been drilled at a possible cost of $15k+ AND a wait time of possibly 8 weeks before a well driller could get to us.

After about an hour of working to connect to the pipe deep down in the 2" casing, they were able to connect and pull it out successfully. Then they went to work assembling the new valves and pipe to go down in the well and attached them to to a pretty green wellhead (which would soon be buried).

They primed and fired off the water pump and watched as the water started off red as SC red clay and many gallons later, it started clearing up and even more gallons later, it was almost crystal clear.

They cleaned up after themselves and filled up the hole. We settled up at 1/6th the cost of a newly drilled well. They should be proud of a job well done and about another satisfied customer. I'm just thankful that they didn't give up easily in the face of an uncertain outcome.

In short, I have highly recommended Best Rate Plumbing to those seeking plumbing help in the past and now have even more reason to continue to do so.

They were able to schedule me quickly for a water heater repair, arrived early, completed the warranty inquiry with the manufacturer and get everything done in a very reasonable amount if time the same day. Their plumber Josh Laney is a very personable and knowledgeable young man. I will definitely call Best Rate again for any plumbing needs. Oh, and their pricing was exceptionally good compared to our first estimate.

He walked me through troubleshooting on the phone and found out what was wrong and what parts were needed before coming to the house.

Once parts and warranty approval were obtained, Josh showed up on time and was very efficient and friendly. Got the job done quickly.

Josh and Justin arrived on time, were pleasant and as soon as they talked me through the job they got right to work. They checked in with me throughout the day and updated me on their progress. They laid in a new water line from the street, through our foundation and into our crawl space. They added on a required pressure reducing valve, tied in and installed a new water heater, and installed a new kitchen faucet. They cleaned up the yard and put straw over the disturbed dirt. All of this and they were finished and gone in a little over five hours. Excellent job with minimum disruption for us and the yard.

Jeff is the best. Very responsive and personal service. He quickly diagnosed the issue which was a bad well pump. Not great news but he made it right without delay. Great service!
