Beautiful running trail that connects to squirrel lake park (bathrooms and water fountains). There is another water fountain at Rock Fountain Park. Trail is paved for the majority of it, though there are some wood plank bridges throughout. Well maintained. It's a pretty popular trail by the looks of it. Wasn't super crowded or overwhelmed, though.

The 4 mile greenway is a beautiful and accommodating walking trail in the middle of Matthews. It was great to see many types of people and pets doing exercise and keeping the trail clean. There is a lot tree shade and lovely creeks along the way. The trail is a true gem for all families to enjoy.

LOVE this greenway! Way to go Town of Matthews for creating something very special ... paved path is beautiful, well maintained and clean! Miles of natural adventures await - park has playground, bathrooms, disc golf course, meandering creeks, pond, benches, etc.

Went for our first visit with the kids and we all loved it. So many big beautiful trees and little creeks running through. Loved the little stop areas like the fountain and pond with ducks.

Great walkway. Pleasant scenery. Gives you a feeling that you're not in the city. Depends how far your go, it can be quite long. One of the ways will lead you to Squirrel Park.

Nice place to walk. Saw a deer family in the woods. One of the fawns was in the grass just off the trail.

This trail has a variety of landscape, wooden bridges, creek side and lush greenery. Has a good tree cover that offers protection from the sun.

A beautiful meandering trail through a suburban Greenway. Most of the trail is either asphalt or wooden slat bridge, so easy to traverse for anyone on 2 feet, with a stroller or on a bicycle. The pathways stretch through a nicely forested area, some of which also has a small stream that snakes through a few communities in Matthews. I came in autumn, and it was lovely to see all the leaves falling and changing colors. Highly recommended!

Very beautiful and walkable park. Dog friendly, we enjoyed a stroll & saw birds and other small lizards. Everyone was courteous. They had multiple places for dog bags to pick up presents left by our pets. I enjoyed this walk and recommend it to families with pets

This is one of my favorite places to go bike riding. Just wish they could make a trail in Monroe to connect to it.

Really like this park for walking or running! Double wide paved walk ways that let you pass other walkers or be passed conveniently. Large parking at Squirrel Park, or a few parking spots on John St in Matthew's. Restrooms and a large playground for kids. Some picnic tables around and a large covered area with many tables that can be rented for an occasion. Disc golf course and a lake that some people fish in. Watch out for the geese! Overall, we really enjoyed this park and greenway!

I've been walking on this greenway long before it was ever built. There used to be abandoned houses along this path. It's a nice place to go for a 2 hour walk. There is plenty of wildlife and the creek splits off in different directions . This low lying ground floods during storms

Enjoyed walking this greenway to Squirrel Lake Park and back with husband. The trail continues further but this was our first time, so we explored the park a bit as well. We parked on E. John St., but realized there is also parking in Squirrel Lake Park that would be off road and closer to restrooms. The trail was very nice. It follows little waterways and has beautiful scenic areas. There are neighborhoods nearby. I felt safe, and there were a lot of friendly people out this day walking their dogs on leashes. The trail was clean. There were benches closer to Squirrel Lake Park but from E. John St. to Squirrel Lake Park and back to E. John Street there is a lack of benches.

One of the best trails in this area. Lots of shade and greenery. Very peaceful but you are never alone. Feels safer than other trails I have frequented.

This trail is mostly paved, a wide and easy space for the many people who frequent it. It extends from John Street a couple of miles 2 an entrance at the Matthews community Center, just off South trade Street. Halfway between is squirrel Lake Park.

The trail isflanked by a varied display of trees and shrubs, some planned but most of it natural. It follows the creek, with occasional crossovers and access points for kids and puppies to enjoy. Squirrel Lake Park itself is quite attractive, with a big and well-used playgrounds, a hillside with shelters and tables down to the fishing lake, which is pretty well used and includes a dock and the ever-present geese. there are several places where the trail divides and you can access nearby neighborhoods, adding to the interest of the walk. It's fairly level but there are a few easy slopes.

This is my go-to Greenway for weekend walks. Well-paved, a decent amount of shade in summer, and access to Squirrel Lake Park! Its only shortcoming is that it doesn't end closer to a coffee shop 😉
