We really enjoyed spending our day at Big Lagoon State Park. There were plenty of parking spots available. We walked the Sandy Pine Trail Loop (3.5 miles) and boardwalk sections. The boardwalk provides an expansive view of Big Lagoon and Grand Lagoon. The best views were from the observation tower. As we were walking, we saw several small birds, an armadillo, and a swamp rabbit. There were several covered areas with picnic tables and restrooms available. For a $6.00 entry fee, this park is definitely worth it.

It’s a large facility with plenty of open space. Hiking, kayaking, boating and numerous private pavilions available from small to large, including an amphitheater. The sky tower recently reopened and facilities are clean and conveniently located throughout the park. Carloads are reasonably priced, with annual passes available. Birds and other wildlife are a sure attraction.

Cool area. RV park was fine, with several sites far larger than they describe. The one they assigned was too tight for our 5th wheel to get in, but we found another about 80' long. Usually nearly full, so good luck.

We LOVE this park. Our first date was there, and we even planned to get married there. Unfortunately, hurricane Sally changed that plan... but the good news is the park is completely open again! New boardwalks, new pavilions, and alligator at the bridge! And the tower is back!!!

Things I wish I had read in reviews before my trip.. There are 2 110 plugs a 30amp and 50 amp as well.. a place to put a water hose.. picnic tables and grill/fire pits..

I had the BEST week long solo trip to this park! I felt safe the entire time I was there and actually stayed an extra night.. its very peaceful with plenty of Lagoon access.. if you have a kayak it's a beautiful trip to the other side of the lagoon.. bathroom/showers were always clean with hot water.. building itself was a little toasty.. i can't wait to plan my next trip.

Very beautiful and well maintained park! We walked the long pond trail and the boardwalk by the new opened lookout tower! Lots of canoe, paddelboard, or boating opportunities. You will find multiple waterfountains, restrooms, and picnic tables throughout the park.

This place is truly amazing. We ended up here due to no parking at the beach. We started in Orange Beach trying to access the beach and drove miles down the road. The entrance fee is little to nothing for the experience of what’s behind the gates. There are a few hiking trails, boat launches, campground, and picnic area. The views were so amazing. It wasn’t crowded at all which was a major plus given it being a holiday weekend.

I am so happy the park has fully reopened and is rebuilt after Hurricane Sally. I love the biodiversity of this park, from the saltwater tidal marshes to sand pine scrub. Activities range from kayaking, bird watching, swimming, picnicing, boating, and hiking. Leashed dogs are allowed on the hiking trails (dogs are not allowed on beaches). There is a convenient kayak launch which gives easy access to the inshore tidal marsh and Gulf Islands National Seashore directly across the intracoastal waterway. The three story observation tower is a must see. The campground and boat launch are probably the two most popular activities at this park. Beach areas for swimming are popular with small children, as water current is minimal and water depth is sallow enough to wade in (fair warning, there are numerous sting rays in warmer months). While exploring here I have seen everything from nesting bald eagles fighting with local osprey, to the occasional US Navy Blue Angels doing unexpected flyovers out of season. This is one of my absolute favorite parks in the region.

A beautiful State Park right in Perdido Key, between Pensacola Beach and Orange Beach. I really enjoyed the view, the boardwalks, observation tower and comfortable pavilions. It was a beautiful place to picnic along the beaches, both east and west. Camping is available, as well as a boat ramp. Plenty of things to do. See the Blue Angels practice daily.

Gorgeous area and I love the trails!! I think you all should charge more to try and keep out the people who don’t respect nature… just a thought.

As grilling on nearby beach was prohibited during our time, we were looking for a place to grill. Suddenly we have found this park, it was treasure hunt I would say. The park and restrooms are very clean, there is a small beach near the Bay Area. We loved this park.

Awesome choice for a change of scenery!

Visited on a sunny Saturday in mid-March.

Even thou a good chunk of the park was closed , we truly enjoyed hiking the Sand Pine Trail and it’s contrasting landscapes : from sand dunes and cactus, to swampy greenery. Took us about an hour on a regular pace.

Small entrance fee
Clean bathrooms
Lots of parking space

Nice Park, glad to see allot of the damage after 🌀 Sally has been repaired. Great place to kayak, paddle board, or just hang out on the small beach.

First time I came a few years back, I didn't realize so much was back here. Trails are kinda tough to ride with a bike. Lots of sections with deep sand where you have to just walk it.

Went camping my birthday here and loved every minute of it. Very nice and well taken care of, friendly staff and friendly people around. Some things are closed at the moment due to repairs and cleaning from Sally but there are beautiful views. You can fish( in certain areas atm)nature trails etc. Plenty of stores around the area.

Great park with boat access and a campground.
Lots is still closed due to the hurrican however the trails and water still offer a great amount of fun.
Saw two black coyotes and lots of deer activity along the trails.
