Every once in a while, you are fortunate enough to cross paths with a professional who improves the quality of your life in a dramatic fashion. For me this person is Michael Mullin, owner of Integrative Rehab Training. After a painful ankle sprain and a debilitating lower back injury, I assumed the inevitable age (I am 52 years-old) and injury related performance decline had arrived. Not only has Michael rehabbed my injuries, but working with Michael has improved my level of performance in all of my outdoor pursuits. I have never worked with someone who has the depth of understanding of how the body works, ability to read imbalances and the facility to implement and instruct corrective exercises. My work with Michael has been transformational, and I am running stronger, skiing longer and paddling better than I ever have. I cannot recommend Michael highly enough.

Over the past 10+ years I have worked with Michael to rehabilitate and recover from a number of different injuries. In all cases he has developed and guided me through a personalized program which has resulted in a reasonably rapid recovery and also an overall improvement in my total physical well being. He is compassionate and focused on achieving the best possible end result. Michael also is extremely knowledgeable and as a consequence explains in clear terms the whys and hows of his recommendations and delivers them clearly and, at times, with a bit of humor.
I should add that several of my children and family have also worked with Michael and that we consider him a friend and our "go to" physical therapist!

Michael is amazing. I’d go so far as to call him a magician but nothing is a secret — he shares each observation, step, adjustment and exercise with you to ensure you’re comfortable.

I went to see Michael after my mom highly recommended him. Without any specific pain in mind, he gave me a general assessment — within the first 90 minutes, I could take deeper breaths and hold my breath for longer than I have ever been able to before. And, at the end of it all, he showed how these simple adjustments led to a proper squat form (which I had been unable to achieve with other professionals in the last 5 years causing serious lower back pain whenever I do Olympic lifting).

In my second appointment, Michael observed that my right side was not properly aligned. After some adjustments to my right foot and right knee, I have now taken some of the first knee-pain-free steps I’ve taken since I was 14. Again, I came to Michael for a general assessment and left with better breath, posture, walking movement, standing and sitting positions, squat mobility, and disappearing knee pain.

How? Michael has incredible knowledge about how the body functions, is a close observer to how your individual body functions, and applies his knowledge in a kind, informative, and action-oriented way. He’s passionate about his job and an absolute joy to visit. I can’t wait for my next appointment!

There are few physical therapists who have such expansive knowledge of the human body as Michael does. He is one of the foremost experts at how movement patterns impact chronic injuries. He is a genius at understanding the true source of pain and _teaching_ clients how to change their movement patterns to restore balance and function. When I saw Michael about a long-term hip injury, I was extremely skeptical that anyone could help me after so many attempts with various different providers. Michael looked at the problem differently and, although it took a few visits for me to grasp the mind-blowing knowledge he was dropping, I couldn't deny the result. Now, months later, I have gone from skeptic to true believer. My pain is almost completely gone and I enjoying the sports and activities I love again. It's amazing we have such an incredible health professional here in Maine!

Michael has a unique skill set second to none when it comes to understanding the body's movement patterns and performance, then identifying and helping to correct issues whether it be function, pain, impingement, strength, weakness or simply better understanding how YOUR body (and mind) work collectively, as well as the emotional impact an injury has on a person. I've had the pleasure of having him work on several injuries I've sustained over the years, including freak ones such as separated ribs from my sternum from picking up chubby babies repeatedly that no other medical professional diagnosed or understood, and I went to several. That "little" injury, unseen from the outside was so painful and limited my life in many ways for months until Michael figured out the issue and in 2 sessions I was totally better! He is a true Healer. Whether for injury rehab, performance improvement or both, Integrative Rehab Training with Michael Mullin IS the place to go! You will be amazed at how much better you feel, think and engage in your life by working with Michael!

Hard to put into words how fantastic Michael Mullin is. It's always inspiring to work with someone who is both so passionate and incredibly knowledgable about their craft. I've worked with him on/off for a few years and continue to see him grow and educate others. His ability to articulate body/movement/posture concepts makes you feel almost as smart as he is, if only for a short while :). If you think you've tried everything, but haven't seen Michael, there is still hope!

I told my good friend i might be headed for knee replacement surgery. She had worked with Michael for years and jumped up to interrupt me, "Oh no, no ,no. You HAVE to see Michael Mullin. He has saved me from many surgeries. He is a compassionate genius." And it turns out, even with the impossibility in that phrase, Michael is a compassionate genius. His mind is sharp, his knowledge of the body beats all others, how the body works even when it doesn't so well, his manner, his skill, his able hands, and, yes, his compassion which comes through in everything he does including how many times he says, "you haven't done anything wrong." He saved me from knee surgery and who know now about this wonky shoulder he is geniusing? If there is any doubt whether you should see him or not, just do it.

Michael has a highly developed skill understanding all that is going on with the body which gives him the ability to customize his work for individual clients. Our whole family sees him, and we always walk away feeling better, breathing better and have a game plan for what we need to do to keep moving forward. He does amazing work!

I first met Michael at one of his intro to PRI courses and it literally changed my life and how I practiced as a certified athletic trainer. His out of the box thinking and approach to clinical care is matched with his humbleness and willingness to teach. A true educator not only to other clinicians, but to his patients. He has helped put the pieces together of puzzles I needed more guidance with for my patients, and encouraged me in my growth. A wonderful athletic trainer who advocates for his patients and promotes growth among fellow clinicians.

I was lucky enough to come to Michael about three years ago after a hip replacement surgery and he has helped me regain the strength and mobility I never knew I had. Michael is a fountain of knowledge and has so much skill in translating practical information and ideas about how the body works. The highlight of my week is working with Michael. Thanks Michael!

So happy that I found Michael years back when I was dealing with an ankle injury. The work we do together helps work through acute issues and also empowers to me to better understand how my body works while giving me tools to take care of myself. Can't recommend him highly enough!

Micheal is a diamond in the ruff! In the complex world of pain and injury, Micheal not only considers the site of pain/injury, but understands how the entire system has to be addressed for a comprehensive treatment approach. When orthopedic treatment has failed, traditional physical therapy has missed the mark, traditional chiropractic work did not help, look no further than Micheal to put the pieces of the puzzle together and develop a strategy to advance you forward in your journey.
