The cabins are very clean and owners are wonderful - super friendly and helpful! Lake is lovely and serene, was able to rent boats from the owners so we could enjoy fishing. Will definitely come back here! Was a fun get away!

Bring towels, dish soap, paper towels, and charcoal, but they had pretty much everything else at the cabin. It was all listed in the instructions, so nothing was a surprise!!

Our family takes a fall trip every year and we think we found our place for years to come, it's absolutely beautiful with a peaceful presence! The cabins are well kept and the owners are the sweetest people who care mostly about the happiness of their campers. We rented a pontoon for one day which was incredible, it helped us really enjoy the lake to the fullest with our three girls ( 9, 3 and 2 months). Fishing was great! Hiking was great! We left feeling refreshed and closer as a family! Thanks Jack the Horse Resort!

Very nice place for a family vacation. Had a great time. Manager and her husband are very nice folks. Remember to bring paper towels, dish soap and hand soap though. Nearest grocery store is tiny and over priced, we went to Grand rapids for grocery which was 45 min drive one way.

My wife and I were hoping for a calm, quiet, and simple vacation, and that’s exactly what we got. The Lakeside cabin was well maintained and cozy. The lake is beautiful and natural. Cabins are spaced out from each other, but all are within a 2 minute walk or less to the office if you need to call someone or use WiFi. I couldn’t recommend this place more.

Absolutely incredible hosts; the Huots provide an amazing family friendly atmosphere. Good cabins for a very competitive price. Great fishing on Jack the Horse lake with dozens of other lakes within a 15 minute drive. Definitely a must see destination.

The resort is in the 2 million (YES!) acre Chippewa State Forest. The only thing to disrupt the quiet is the Loon serenade. The cabins are perfectly appointed and are spotless beyond belief. The cabins are well seperated with woods in between. Each cabin has a private dock with a double hammock next to the lake. The beach is family friendly , with lots of sand, and a floating diving dock close by to swim to. There is a fire pit near the beach which is an excellent place to view the stars in an unbelievably dark sky. There is great fishing, boating, and hiking, but the most important thing to me was that by the time that I was half way into our cabin I felt completly relaxed and at home . It reminded me of the cabins that we went to when I was a boy, only better! Any thoughts of what we should do next was replaced by an overwhelming desire to just sit back and let the pleasures bring themselves to us. There are many more things I could about hosts, Josh and Kristin, the local people, and all the things to see and do in the surrounding area. It's fantastistic! Just don't tell anyone else. Let's just keep it to ourselves.

Great resort if you want a getaway cabin. Cabins are super clean and well maintained. The lake is good for fishing.
