It is a beautiful and challenging trail. There are some spots with loose rocks that made our descent a little harrowing. We saw a group rock climbing which was interesting to watch.

This trail lies mostly on private land--the summit and backside are on state land--and there were so many problems with visitors obstructing landholder access (including access for emergency responders) that the trail has been closed to public access on weekends. Monday through Friday this is a pint sized hike with epic views. Please park respectfully and pack out what you pack in, so the rest of us can continue to enjoy this marvel for years to come.

Great hike which I haven’t done in many years. The turn off of Rt 73 is a private road and this hike is entirely on private property that the residents are gracious enough to allow hikers to use. Use is only allowed on weekdays. A short hike which is strenuous. Great for beginners and those that are rusty. Since this is private property, follow the “leave no trace” ethos when visiting. Enjoy 😊

Closed Friday 4pm through Monday 7am. Limited parking at the trailhead. This was a fun trail with some decent elevation all in the beginning, some scrambling in the middle and very windy at the top.The panoramic views from the were spectacular. My kids 4 and 2 really enjoyed this one.

Great hike! Amazing views! If traveling in the ice you might want some spikes and trek poles. But it's definitely worth the trip up!

Unassuming short hike that has a beautiful rock summit. Short half mile directly up from a private road and there is a rock climbing section.

Short hike at 0.9 miles, very steep, amazing views from the top! On private land, only accessible Monday-Friday.

Beautiful short Adirondack hike. Note...you can't park there on the weekend.

Great little hike for the younger kids and for an easy hike with your furry friend! Nice view for such a easy going hike. Took us about an hour total up and down with an 8 year old kid and a one year old puppy. Totally worth it to get the younger ones a chance to reach a "summit" and get them itching for more!

Fun little hike. Great views! Almost missed the trailhead but Google maps has it at its exact location. Was the only car on a Thursday. Thanks to the property owners who allow this trail public

This place is a real gem - hiking with young kids we were able to enjoy stunning views and enough upward climbing to make it interesting for adults, but still feasible for the little ones. Thanks to the land owners for making this hike possible. It was the best of our trip.

Did this hike on August 27, 2019; so glad we did too! The trailhead is right off route 73, there's a fairly visible sign alerting you that you've arrived. A word of caution: there's additional signage indicating the trail is closed between Friday afternoon and Monday morning, so take that into consideration when planning a visit. After turning off 73, it's a very short drive down a dirt road to where parking can be found. From where you park to where the trail starts is less than a minute walk. The trail itself starts climbing almost immediately, but it isn't too steep. My feeling is that, compared to a 46er trail, Owl's Head is quite gentle. The trail itself rises 475 feet over a distance of 9/10 of a mile. There are nice vistas after a short bit of hiking. Towards the summit, the views become even more rewarding. The summit itself is wide open, offering spectacular views of near 46er quality. We really enjoyed this little hike a lot! A bonus feature was that it free of the crowds that are sometimes encountered on the more popular peaks in the area. I would also add that Owl's Head would be ideal, in my estimation, for families with younger kids, older hikers, or hikers in moderate shape. Owl's Head gets my full recommendation!

Short hike, except for the fact that you'll want to spend a lot of time enjoying the views. There are multiple great vistas even if you don't make it to the absolute top. I hiked this right after hiking Baxter Mountain, and found the views here even more amazing.

The hike is fantastic. But there are tricky boulder sections and steep sections. Don’t recommend this hike for anyone less than 8 or older than 80.

Fun short hike and great for kids, I brought my 5 and 8 year old up and it was a breeze for them even though they were a bit grumpy after climbing their first high peak.
