The Original Red Onion

Great place for breakfast and lunch. Big omelets and breakfast platters on the menu. The burgers are excellent here. Bundle the fries and onions rings to share. The portions are large here. The prices are very decent. Try it! ALOHA!

Food was yummy per the usual. Fresh ingredients and same great taste. I got a bacon Cheeseburger with a large fries. Fries were big enough for 3 people. When I'm in the area I'll return for another delicious burger.

Great place for a burger and fries. Much better than fast food. Can get crowded, since limited seating.

I grew up in Omaha. I have a point. That is where the Ruben Sandwich was born. I moved away over 40 years ago and I have had mixed results finding a good Ruben Sandwich until I ordered one at the Red Onion. It was perfect. We will be going here more and more. Great food and friendly service.

A great place to stop by after work or a game, or for no reason at all and have a freshly made, great tasting burger or any other item on their menu. Their Onion Rings and Seasoned Fries combo is very generous and flavorful. They offer some interesting dishes and very good service in a very informal and cozy place.

Gets pretty busy but the food is always great for the money. I've been eating here for 20+ years and they're the best burgers (and fries) in California. There are vegetarian options and several non burger, non sandwich options, too.

2023 update: Now there are Gluten-free bread and bun options! Good for the intolerant but probably still a little risky for those allergic to wheat.

But added to the extensive menu options, I'm grateful.

Food has been solid here for the last 20+ years. I moved back to the area around 2013.. I almost feel like it's better lately. Their chili cheese whatever you need is the best. Their hash browns are also the best. You can have those chili cheese as well.

Red onion is the real deal home town spot. Now they originally known for the burgers but everything else on the expanded menu is fire.

I've never been here before, but have heard great things. Was down in the area today and got a cheeseburger, omgosh so good. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty. Definitely my favorite new burger place. Cant wait to go back and try a omelette.

They were awesome and good service. Good atmosphere, thing that blew my mind was the food that is cooked here. Absolutely amazing quality and not oily/greasy. Left me satisfied and wanting more. Hella items to choose from, and cooked 100% the way it should be. I appreciate a place like this to have amazing food and stayed true to that from 1963. Kudos to you. 💯

Place is small but the service was fast and the food was tasty and cheap. I'm a vegetarian and I was thrilled to see they have multiple options! Overall a good mom-and-pop fast food joint.

Been going there for years when I worked in Hercules. Recently stopped by on my way home. Good still good!

The Red Onion has been a staple of Pinole for so many years. The menu has changed drastically, but Johnny runs a great operation. Love some of the newer food choices, but it's hard to beat a good old fashioned burger from Red Onion. If you're looking for a hometown favorite - Red Onion is the place to go!

I don't normally crave burgers but in my last month of my pregnancy, these burgers just hit the spot like no other! Ive ordered the same thing a few times this month and every time I've spoken to any of the staff (in person or over the phone) they've been very helpful and kind. I didn't get any names but the man who has been there most times I've come in has prepared my food perfectly EVERY time. He looked like a manager or head chef the way he had everyone organized. Whatever his position, THANK YOU for the delicious meal and for the continuous great customer service :)

I think that they had a rough few years, the pandemic, but even before that I went there and it was lacking a bit. But I went back today and happy to report that it was amazing, off the chain, back to what I remember it used to be from when we first moved to the area in about 2008. I had bacon cheeseburger, no lettuce, no pickle, 1/2 order of criss-cut fries (which is big, probably enough for 2 people even), and my daughter got a chocolate shake. I should've taken pictures but yeah, a-mazing, and I've always loved how you can see everything being made fresh in the open kitchen. Glad to see that they're back in full swing, I'll definitely be coming back more often now.
