Absolutely historically stunning place! If you’re in West Yellowstone, you have to stop in and see the registration area! It’s incredible and feels like you’re stepping back in time. I also SO APPRECIATE that they sell bear spray AT COST! I think safety should not be for profit, and highly respect your business for this great gift you are providing all life, both wild and domesticated!

Great place for the price! Nice Clean rooms with authentic, western feel. Can easily walk to the Grizzly Wolf Discovery Center and to all the shopping hot spots, Grocery store just at the end of the block for drinks, have little fridge and microwave in the room. They also included a $10 voucher for a meal at the diner next door. Would definitely stay again. Best lodging deal in West Yellowstone by far with friendly & helpful staff.

Our room was not in the historic part of the hotel because we wanted our room to be on the ground floor. It was great! Plenty of room, very comfortable beds and a mini fridge and microwave for reheating foods etc. They offered coffee and hot chocolate including huckleberry cocoa inside the main historic building which was delicious. Had an amazing gift shop. The hotel lobby and staircase had a lot of character, as I’m sure the upstairs rooms did as well. A taxidermy bison and numerous mounted antlers from various deer, elk, moose that were displayed gave lobby the feeling of being from another time period especially for the avid hunter. Their location was easy to find and close to the center of town yet a block away from the noise and congestion. In addition they even let me know that I had forgotten something and shipped it to me. We would definitely stay there again.

We regard it a privilege to have stayed in one of the rooms in the original building of the hotel. Rooming there evoked the history of Yellowstone, its beauty, wonder, and wildlife.

Staying in the original building did not mean that we sacrificed comfort. We found all that we could need or would have expected provided for us. The Historic Madison Hotel was a key part of one of the most memorable vacation experiences we have had.

After a summer working at Glacier National Park, we hit Yellowstone on our way back home. We did not have any reservations for a room when arriving in West Yellowstone and lucked into an available space at the Madison. It was clean, convenient and a great deal for what we needed on our trip through. Had such a good experience we ended up staying a second night.

What a great little place to call home for the night, owners were amazing, down to earth and super helpful to not only us, but we witnessed them taking the time to really educate the others in their store and others staying here to maximize their time at Yellowstone. Its rare these days to find people that passionately love their places of work and also truly care about the experience of their travelers.

They gave us $10 each for free breakfast next door at restaurant as they don't have restaurant, which was super awesome, and the $10 covered what a full breakfast would cost. Love this little town!

Their gift shop, has high quality items and very inexpensive price, same items in most other stores or especially where we live in Colorado would have been 3x more expensive for the same quality. Wide selection, amazing quality and great prices, cannot go wrong!

Definitely will be staying here again the next time visiting up there.

If you are looking for an authentic stay, look no further than "The Historic Madison Hotel".

Stayed one night with my family in the older part of the motel. The room was very clean and the beds were super comfortable. The owner was very personable. They have a gift shop located in the motel with family portraits lining the walls, making it feel very homey. A nice town to visit ,with lots of shops and restaurants. Visit Wild west pizzeria & saloon for great pizza and beer. Easy access to Yellowstone National Park.

Affordable place to stay and great location. Room was well maintained and has great Yellowstone vibes. Made me feel home during this trip, and very nice owners.

Their winter tours seem also seems to be great. Will return during winter times to enter the park through some unique ways with them.

Great place for the price! Cute, cozy rooms. Authentic, western feel. Can easily walk to the Grizzly Wolf Discovery Center and the Playmill theatre. They also included a $10 voucher for breakfast at the diner next door. Would definitely stay again. Best "value" lodging deal in West Yellowstone I've found.

This is my choice when in West Yellowstone for a good, authentic and budget friendly old-west hotel. I've stayed with the Madison for the past two summer vacations and it's been a great value. Their historic lodge rooms with shared baths down the hall are a great way to travel for a solo or young couple. The management is friendly and they do a nice job of keeping everything in-order. Their free WiFi works great and the upper front porch is a must for Sunsets.

My husband and I stayed for two nights while visiting Yellowstone National Park. It's a charming, clean and quiet. It's minutes away from the park entrance. The free homemade smores by the fireplace was an extra special treat. We would definitely stay again.

Stayed here for two nights, but in different rooms: 1st night in the motel and 2nd in the hotel. Personally, I liked the motel room better. Mattress was softer, and the walls were a bit more soundproof than on the hotel side. But I would easily stay in either accommodation in the future. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the place is generally well kept. Also, guests get $10 coupons to the Timberline Restaurant next door. They serve excellent breakfast, and early!

This is the greatest place in West Yellowstone!! This is a time capsule of Yellowstone history. Was there for the 4th of July. The Owners provided a BBQ dinner for all the guests and staff which was awesome. Then the view of the West Yellowstone fireworks from the parking lot was perfect. Can’t wait to stay on our next trip to the Yellowstone National Park. The gift shop has the best quality of memorabilia in West Yellowstone. Thank you Historic Madison Hotel for all your hospitality.

Historic hotel that has maintain its "quaintness" and is appropriately furnished. Excellent location - about 1 mile from West entrance to YNP. Parking was just outside our room. Many eating establishments are within walking distance (1-3 blocks). Reasonably priced. Clean. Convenient.

This is the perfect base if you are exploring Yellowstone everyday. You can walk to pretty much everything in West Yellowstone from here. My boyfriend and I stayed here for a few nights in a private room with a bathroom. Our room was outside by parking spaces, so I liked that. The room itself was cozy and perfect for us to come back to after long days hiking and exploring. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which was nice. The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. The heat did not work well, so it got a bit chilly through the night. The hotel has a cute gift shop and you get a discount if you are staying in the hotel. We received discount vouchers for the restaurant next door. To me that was awesome! The hotel was a little pricey, but seemed cheaper than most places around there. I would stay there again.

This is place is in the perfect spot for exploring Yellowstone for a great value. It's also walkable to all the restaurants in town, so no need to drive to dinner after a long day of driving around the park. Also, free hot cocoa and coffee 24/7.

This place is wonderful! Definitely a great stop if you’re looking for a launch off point for visiting Yellowstone NP.

It’s old, rustic and charming. The hotel has been around for 110 years and you can definitely feel that nostalgia when you walk in. Big wooden logs running the length of the hotel, ornate chairs and rugs, quaint gift shop and balcony. You can tell how much pride and work has been put into this place.

The rooms are clean and spacious relatively. Nice hot running water after a long day at the national park. For the price this place is a steal.

This hotel has a lot of history to it as it was built 110 years ago, so don’t expect this to be the Marriott. We stayed in a 1 queen room and was plenty of room for 2. Very cool to stay in a place like this. Owner’s and staff were all very helpful and genuinely nice people. Next time we come back to West Yellowstone, we will be staying here again. Thanks for the hospitality! Also, the complimentary hot chocolate was great!

Everything was great. It is a small family owned hotel. It is right outside of Yellowstone in a small town. It was very comfortable for my family. I would stay again if we came back to Yellowstone.

We loved our experience in Wyoming in this hotel. The history of it all was cool and the owners were so nice and helpful. So was the staff. Next time we are in Yellowstone we would love to stay again.
