Blue Door Smokehouse

If you ever in Lexington and looking for great BRISKET, you have got to stop in at the Blue Door Smokehouse. They have 3 different sauces (spicy, sweet, and mustard), creamy and vinegary coleslaw. The collard greens are not quite Moms, but they are good.
The place is small and homey, and the staff is great! The Blue Door could really use a larger restaurant, this is the only fault with restaurant.
By far, hands down the Blue Door Smokehouse is the best BBQ in Lexington!

Excellent BBQ and sides. We tried the every meat and every side. Loved the collard greens and the vinegar slaw the most for sides. Brisket, ribs, sausage, pulled pork, and chicken were all excellent. Sauce choices were great also.

This is the best BBQ I've had in a long time. Nothing chain about it. The smoked sausage was so tender. The brisket crusted on the outside and tender in. The rest will have to wait until I'm home. Looking forward to dinner tonight.

I had an amazing brisket dinner, served with onions pickles and a glorious piece of white bread. Collards and ranch beans were delish and the portion size was generous. I will come back again next time I’m in Lexington!

Best BBQ in the state of Kentucky and I’m from Owensboro. Where that might be considered a hot take. I stand by my words. Brisket is heavenly. The sausage snaps as soon as you bite in and melts in your mouth. To top it off, the potato salad is better than grandma’s (please don’t tell her), & the greens take me back to Mississippi.

Best meal we’ve had during our time in KY! Ribs were tender, beans were on point with a kick of pepper & the potato salad was incredible! The staff was friendly and even brought slices of watermelon to the table to end our meal! This entire experience satisfied an 86 yo, 80 yo and a 54 yo trying to make everyone happy! Will be back before we leave!

The best barbecue I’ve ever had and I’ve ate lots!! The brisket was so juicy and tender, the pulled chicken was well seasoned and also juicy, and their homemade potato salad and baked beans was filled with flavor. If you’re ever in the Lexington KY area you’ve gotta check em out. It’s worth every single penny!! When I’m in Lexington again this will be a definite stop.

You don’t need to look anywhere else for good bbq. You don’t have to be the oldest and or the biggest to put out quality meat for customers and the folks at Blue Door prove that. From the brisket to pulled pork paired with the amazing sides and great sauces you won’t be disappointed.

We stopped here for lunch on our first day in Kentucky and let me just say wow!! Yes it’s a total hole in the wall but we all know those make the BEST places. We came from Georgia so good bbq is a big deal. It did not disappoint. Hubs had brisket and I had ribs. Brisket was tender and juicy and ribs were cooked to perfection. Service was great and staff was so friendly. Would definitely come back in the area.

Being from TEXAS I didn't expect to find good BBQ in Kentucky. I ordered Brisket "moist" and Ribs, Collard Greens and Potato Salad. Brisket was Top Tier Texas Quality, absolutely flawless. Ribs were different than I'm used to but still good. Greens were very tasty and so was the tator salad. Didn't try the sauces until I was almost done eating. They were good, but the meat didn't need any. Very Good BBQ.

Wonderful food in this small establishment! We ordered the special and it was a lot of food. Hot it with potato salad and vinegar slaw. Definitely would come here again!

This place is beyond unreal. As a person who refuses to frequent "BBQ" places outside of central Tejas, I must say that Blue Door is the real deal. I have been here dozens of times, and it is consistently outstanding. The staff and owners are delightful people. If you're going on a game day, get there early!

Try the following items...

1. The brisket sandwich. Get it fatty or wet cut. Get it with coleslaw. Do NOT use any sauce. It doesn't need sauce since it's real brisket BBQ.

2. Any meat platter. Brisket and ribs are a good combination. Use the bread and pickles.

Great food! I prefer a little more smoke but everything had great flavor. The collards and potato salad were the best sides in my humble opinion. Super rustic cute and service was helpful and very polite. Food came out very fast too. Will be back.

The folks here deliver outstanding customer service. They deserve five stars on friendliness alone. The pulled pork is juicy and is perfectly seasoned blend of smokiness and spicy. The potato salad and cole slaw were delicious.

There is no indoor seating at this establishment. But they do have two tables outside. They do a brisk business here.

Hands down best BBQ in Lexington. Everything I've had is excellent. Rarely do I comment on sides and rarely do I order potato salad at a restaurant. I'm telling ya, order the potato salad with whatever entree you get. You'll be more than happy you did.

We ate here for the first time recently. The staff was super friendly and the BBQ was delicious. Their spicy sauce was awesome as well. This is a tiny BBQ place with limited seating and lines out the door. We saw multiple to go orders being processed while we were there. They do have a limited menu. Unfortunately, none of their side items appealed to me but that is just personal preference. Would still highly recommend.

I'm not a fan of potato salad in most cases; this is the best I've had from any bbq joint. Spicy BBQ sauce is amazing, the tangy is very good too. The guys here are really friendly and the place n very clean. A steady flow of people in and out on a Thursday. We're just passing thru Kentucky or we would absolutely be back.

Simply Amazing.

The staff is extremely friendly and ensured the food was as expected. I had the brisket and it was literally falling apart on my fork, it was amazing. They have a variety of sauces on each table (spicy, sweet, tangy) to go with your meal. The portions are fairly large but not too much. Definitely has the feeling of a hole in the wall and it is a must visit in Lexington.

This bbq is amazing! Smoky, juicy and the flavor is on point. I got the brisket and smoked sausage, it was so good! Also, the potato salad is the best I’ve had anywhere. Great location, plus everyone was very friendly. Check this place out for sure!

Absolutely amazing. First order of business when I get into Lexington is to go to Blue Door Smokehouse. Brisket is absolutely amazing. I also like to get shredded chicken sometimes and the dry rub that they put on top is mouth wateringly good. Although the topic of using BBQ sauce is contentious, Blue Door makes some amazing sauce.
