James Fender is a good man. He is compassionate and professional and the amount of stress he has to deal with from grieving families everyday shows the testament of his character. He remains cool and calm under fire and is professional and reserved. I see a lot of reviews where people are bashing him for this that and the other but my personal experience was nothing but stellar respect and dignity. James and his staff were both compassionate and patient with our family during our darkest time. He buried my daughter with respect and is a class act. It's not easy doing that type of job and Mr fender is a shining example of a man who does this for the public and not just for the money.

I recommend fender funeral directors to anyone looking for a funeral service during their darkest time.

The passing of my husband. James & his staff went above & beyond to make it stress free as much as possible. James had to do serval trips out of state to get my husband, his belongings, do paperwork, and not one time James complain to me. He did his job very well. The day of my husband service. It was very clean, and the set up was more than I What I was expecting. They did not rush anything. We had our service and when everyone left. James let me stay alone with my husband for a little bit to say my final good byes, and I can not thank him enough for everything that was done.

The best of the best. The owner was so helpful and his staff are amazing!!! Went above and beyond with their services. I highly recommend James Fender. Every detail was perfect and the staff stayed at the cemetery and said a prayer. Wonderful and caring group of angels. I am so thankful we had them with us at our time of need.

James Fender is one of the best directors
Mr. Fender becomes heavily involved for his families and works hard to ensure that all the needs of his families are not only met but goes beyond anyones expectations. The Lexington KY community is extremely blessed to have such a man caring for this community. His professionalism is beyond any reproach.

Excellent service from Mr.James and Randall. We weren’t rushed to do anything, Randall did a great job on my brother in law. Very good pricing on everything. Just excellent is all I can say. Thank you so much.

Been there to pay respects at a visitation of long time friends of ours. It is a peaceful setting, with a nice wooded green space in front . It s like a living room in a home. Staff was nice and polite

I swear going to a funeral and seeing the family as upset at the funeral home as they are with their loved one dying was the furthest thing from my mind. How can a place be so unprofessional as to let it get that far is beyond me. They won't be handling my bones, that's for certain.

My granddaughter obituary was never put in Lexington Herald after we were told it was. When we got to funeral home for visitation the doors were locked and when we called them they said Oh we forgot we're on our way with her body. We had to stand there and watch as they took her in the funeral home. She looked terrible. Her lips were crusty and her hair was greasy looking. We tried fixing her face and hair. She was such a beautiful girl and to see her that way was devastating. I wish Terry had not been out of town because Mr. Fender was not a good person to deal with during this awful time. This was in September of 2019

This is by far one of the worst looking funeral homes I have been in forever. It needs to be updated and many many repairs to your building. Nobody wants to have their love one laying in a casket with plaster falling off the wall behind the casket...sorry all of this was upsetting to me.

Very unprofessional!! Nothing James said he could do for my family was done! He treated my sister in law like my brother didn’t mean anything. He grew up with my husband and his brother and it was if he just wanted money. He came to my sisters house to get the arrangements planned and nothing she asked for except the casket was right. She asked him to put a panel of pictures in the casket and he said he could and they wasn’t there when we came to the funeral home to view his body neither was the flag that was supposed to display in the casket during the visitations. Also, when we showed up for the family viewing James, didn’t come in and greet our family. He didn’t offer prayer or anything! The day of the funeral we didn’t get the obituaries (which was not right and there was misspelled name in the obituary) until right before the service started. The kicker to the whole day was when he loaded us up and drove us all the way to Camp Nelson National Cemetery only to tell us that a family that was scheduled for “Monday” just showed up and took our spot and that the cemetery contacted him 15 minutes before we was to bury my brother in law and said that the paperwork that Fender was supposed to fill out and return wasn’t completed but that they would allow us to have Taps played and Fender and his associate folded the flag and a representative from the cemetery presented the flag to my sister in law. Poorly done! No military personnel was present and he was supposed to have FULL MILITARY HONORS! No 21 gun salute! I wouldn’t let James Fender handle my dogs funeral! I cherish my loved ones more than that! I will always use Kerr Brothers from here on out. They know how to treat people especially during these times! Despicable. Shame on you James Fender!

We just attended a service for a dear friend, this funeral was only great due to the wonderful family and his Pastor. The funeral staff seemed very unorganized, particularly at the cemetery, didn't give clear instructions for the palbearers and seemed in a hurry to get the whole thing over with. The funeral coach was dated and had busted back-up lenses, dents, and had a very low tire on the front. Likely a pre-owned surplus hearse at a car lot somewhere. This wonderful family deserved better service.

Horrible, and Unprofessional, and it is not just Mr.Fender. It is also his staff, Ms.Mary too, do not leave her out. They proclaim they are trying to help, but really are all about the Money!. When we were there the office was a mess, stuff all over the desk. They had a body inside prepped for his service with the casket open for anyone to see,and were cooking smoke sausage, while we were trying to make arrangements. They messed up and misspelled the obituary, then lied and blamed our family. But still wanted to be paid. Fender ran the obituary with grammatical errors, missing one of the living adult childrens names. Even, after our family provided the obituary we wanted in the paper. It was ran without the approval of the family. We did not even know the obituary was published, until several people called us telling us about all the misspelled( basic words) and missing names. Save your money, heartache and your vulnerability. Go to a professionally ran funeral home, because this is not one!Their website is even non-working, it does not even exist. Fender needs a professional business office manager and then someone to just run the operations. It is Sad!! Thank you for making our situation even worse, then losing our Mother! We did not think it could get any worse.

This place is horrible! My father in law passed 9yrs ago, not only was his wake there, but they were also doing business at the sametime of his wake. They FAILED to let camp Nelson know he was a VETERAN therefore, he didn't get the gun salute, AND they could have paid for it instead! So he sat in a freezer for weeks!
