Hands down the best experience that we’ve had in a long while. The boat was very nice and well kept. We felt safe our entire ride. The ride was smooth and all of the staff were very friendly. The bathrooms were clean and very big. There was both inside seating and outdoor seating for whichever experience you preferred. Inside the boat were tables with bench seats you could sit at and relax. The AC was much appreciated on a hot summer day! The captain was super friendly and allowed my twins to drive the boat for a minute. It MADE their day! The boat tour to the island is basically just enough time to walk a small portion of the island and eat lunch. If you want to do anything more than that you will need to plan an overnight stay to take in more of the island. We plan to use Tangier Island Cruises again when we go back to Tangier Island to stay for an extended weekend.

We really enjoyed the boat ride back and forth to Tangier Island. Enjoyed the less than 15 minute golf cart tour of the island by Sylvia… a Tangier native… loved her way of speaking and her accent. Blows my mind that these people live on this island…. And have done so for so many years! Next time we’ll visit the museum for more history on the place. Really had a very nice time…. We didn’t eat on the island because we wanted to spend the time adventuring… we did try to grab a crab cake on the way out to the boat as we were leaving but at $17 for one we decided not to! We did contribute to the economy with the golf cart rides and buying from the gift shop…. The beach was so beautiful! There were only 2 other people that we saw the hour or so we were there.
The only negative thing: BITING FLIES!!!!! They were attacking me in the beach…. Next time I’ll wear pants and bug spray!

***** AFTER I WROTE THIS I realized I talked more about the island than the boat! The trip on the boat back and forth to the island was excellent… the crew was great!!! Felt safe and the captain was knowledgeable…. Telling us about the sights we were seeing 🌞

This was a great time. Boat left right at 10 AM. Arrived in Tangier before noon. We were greeted by a tour guide who led us onto the island where golf carts were waiting to take you on a tour of the island for $5/person. We did that and the tour took about 15 minutes which allowed you to see where all three souvenir shops, the restaurant (Lorraine's), and other prominent locations like the grocery store, post office, church, the museum, the beach, and school are located. We were asked to be on the boat no later than 2:15 and we arrived back in Reedville just before 4 PM. Take sunscreen for the boat ride. We didn't need bug spray the day we went, but take some just in case. You can bring your own cooler on board so pack lots of drinks to stay hydrated. I highly recommend it.

A great trip. Staff very friendly. Comfortable ride on a nice boat. Get out here and visit Tangier Island before sea level rise takes it over. The people out there are very welcoming.

Hyewon and I took the ferry to Tangier, Virginia which is an island town in Accomack County, Virginia, on the Chesapeake Bay. The population we were told is about 450.

The majority of the original settlers were from South West England, and the tiny island community has attracted the attention of linguists because its people speak a unique English Restoration-era dialect of American English. Most of Tangier Island is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. We had soft shell crab for lunch sitting with to island born teachers and our waitress was one of 4 graduates this year from the local school.

We enjoyed our boat ride to the Island. The captain gave interesting info about some sights we were seeing and allowed the children into the pilot house.

We had a great time taking the ferry to Tangier--the beach is beautiful and the people are so kind. We loved walking around the island and exploring the place. Some of us brought kayaks on the ferry and then kayaked around the island, camping overnight on the beach.

Crab and cruise was totally awesome. Greg from the crab place was an excellent host as well as all the staff who attended to our every need. Fresh oysters shucked right on deck. The cruise started eighth at sunset and ended in the moonlight. This is a bucket list spot if you haven’t ever done it. Only thing on the boat I wasn’t digging is the vip top deck didn’t have ac like the lower deck and the lower deck Dj was spinning better records but the dj upstairs was still good as well. Had a great time we will be back.

Gorgeous trip, only problem was I called the service lady to see if they were still doing cruises past season and she didn't say "You're welcome" after I said "Thank you." in the call. Like, bro, I could've cried that night. Do better.

But other than that, I loved the cruise (I went in August 2023).

Excellent company. The boat is clean and we'll maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. The narration sufficient. The only drawback is the roundtrip takes 3 hours which only gives you 3 hours on the island. The time the boat is at the island may not be in the control of the boat operating company, however 3 hours is barely enough to explore the island. I would be very happy if there was at least another hour of time on the Island. By time you get something to eat and walk a little bit around the island you really don't have time to explore much of anything before you have to head back for an on-time departure. Again this may not be in the control of the ship. So I did not deduct any stars since I don't know who controls the docs and the traffic in the bay.

My boyfriend and I had a great experience taking the ferry from Reedville to Tangier Island. We were staying the weekend on Tangier so we had a suitcase and a cooler with us. The crew was very helpful and helped us carry our stuff onto the boat and store it in a safe place.

I’ve lived in Virginia for years and can’t believe I’ve never done this before! Such a lovely day. The ferry itself was clean and comfortable with AC in the cabin and plenty of shaded seats. The crew was incredibly friendly and the views are just stunning! There’s a vending machine for cold drinks aboard (cash only), though many others brought their own coolers which you can leave on the ferry while exploring the island, as you return on the same boat. You’ll have around 3 hours to explore the island, which was enough time for me on foot.

The islanders are friendly and welcoming. I walked the island, but next time will rent a bike. There is a gorgeous, pristine beach on the southwest end of the island, and a handful of restaurants near the ferry landing. I enjoyed a soft shell crab sandwich at Lorraine’s.

Also note, it’s a dry island and there’s no cell service.

To the ticket taker, the two female crew members (never saw any other crew members so if you were there this applies to you also) and the captain you were all great and made the trip worth it due to you professionalism and friendliness. Capt./Coxswain thanks for making the ride as smooth as you could on 7/17/20. The bay was not being very forgiving that day! Tips: their website states that you can bring your own bike if they have the room. Bring your own snacks and drinks.

Good day trip for a change, food is good on the island a little expensive but it's okay, take the golf cart ride $5 per person to support locals,

Too many mosquitoes at the beach, be careful

There is another boat ride from Maryland as well try to check that too.

Ferry was great! Smooth sailing and loved they stopped and circled a bit to allow us to watch a pod of dolphins playing. Even let us stay at Tangier a bit longer to make up for the dolphin delay. Staff was polite and friendly. Boat was clean. Given I don’t know the first thing about boats, it felt safe and they did a safety briefing in advance.

Excellent value for a day of exploration. Pleasant ferry boat ride to and from the secluded island town of Tangier on the Chesapeake. You'll be on the island for about 3 hours and the transport is about 1-1/2 hours each way.

My 7th trip to Tangier Island and 5th via the CHESAPEAKE BREEZE out of Buzzards Point in Reedville. The weather for this cruise was more sun than clouds with calm winds for a smooth ride into the deep bay.. We saw schools of fish on the way out and schools of spawning cow nose rays on the way in. The young Mates are always wonderful and helpful.
Hilda Crockette's Chesapeake House has the best crab cakes and clam fritters anywhere with baked ham, green beans, corn pudding, coleslaw, potato salad, bread, sugar beets, and lemon cake (put the apple sauce on that) was all you can eat! I was so full! Add it to your ticket to make the trip unforgettable.
Wonderful day trip for everyone to try. You'll go back again.

Great cruise. Very affordable. Mosquitoes were horrible on the island.
