Mike's Bikes of Berkeley

I have a 1996 Super V 700 I bought brand new back in the day that has reached the end of the trail, unable to be repaired due to lack of parts, especially for the needle shock. I was researching new Cannondale mountain bikes for about a month. Found out my new pride and joy would be the Habit 4, and in stock here at mikes bikes in Berkeley. Note that the actual red paint in the stock photos isn't shown correctly, as its more of an amazing dark tone than seen here. Jose was a great help from the word go. Answered all my questions, set me up for the test ride...which was NUTS btw, this bike, all I can say is DAYUM it's a monster. I'm more than happy, actually elated with my purchase, and what I'll be able to do with it. Mikes Bikes has top notch friendly people. I'd gladly refer and recommend this shop to anyone looking for a damn good ride...although on the pricey side, the bikes they tend to carry are on the higher end of the range, but damn well worth every penny.

I’ve been looking for a new bike for over a month. Geoffrey helped me demo 3 bikes after demoing bikes at other bike shops. He made several adjustments due to the feel of the bikes. Most importantly he asked questions. He identified my must haves vs what he had available. He talked me out of a more expensive bike because it didn’t have the derailleurs I was looking for and that was a top priority for me. He was able to order what I wanted even though it wasn’t listed online as available.
In the end I felt extremely confident in the decision I made because I tested the bikes, adjusted them and wasn’t sold I was advised.

These guys are so great. I came in after my bike chewed up my dress, and they immediately were able to get it fixed. I had to come in a second time to get my gears rebalanced, which again they did within literally 1 minute. And they finished the work so fast they didn't even charge me. Incredible! So glad I live close by :)

I was at a Niles “Stroll and Roll” event and I met staff from Mike’s Bike on Saturday. My thirty year old bike needs some help. The staff were courteous and professional and they were helping many community bicyclists like me who needs some minor adjustments on their bike to continue with this 13 miles journey. Kudo’s for the staff working on day to help out the community in Sunol. They were very knowledgeable and I just want to say “thank you” to them for taking care of my old bike.

If you are thinking about ordering a bike online from Mike’s Bikes? Full stop, do it. They shipped my bike all the way to Mass for free. It came in perfect condition and completely protected. None of my local bike shops had the ability to order 62cm frames. Mike’s will from now on be the first place I look for a bike. Shout out to Taylor and Leif at the Berkeley store for the amazing buying experience!

Staff is professional and competent. They stand by their service work and repairs. I have confidence in their work. Wait times are reasonable. Prices are fair. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I feel lucky that the shop is close to where I live.

Always helpful and friendly. Great for everything from everyday purchases to full wheel rebuilds. Although I miss the old location (a couple blocks up University Ave) they have helped me for 15+ years.

Fantastic service. Came to buy a new tube and tire and installed them myself at the shop. Before I left the shop, there was a loud hissing noise - my tire was flat again. Turns out my rim tape moved while I installed the tire. Before I could say anything, they offered me another free tube and even installed it for me. Thanks for turning an unlucky morning into a nice one!

Mikes bikes! I just had a tuneup with you all. The gentleman who worked on my bike did a great job! He also fixed the creaking sound that has been plaguing my bikes for years! Tell him thank you!

Good price on Ultegra crankset and very reasonable installation time. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Maybe I got lucky.

I went in to see if I could have my bike's rear derailleur adjusted. I got a new chain, and somebody changed the settings, so it was shifting poorly. I went to the back, and as a first customer they didn't know me but the mechanic immediately stopped what he was doing and helped me. In fact, he showed me some new adjustments I didn't know about. After a few minutes he brought the bike out and told me to come back if it didn't do the trick. But it did the trick. My 12-speed Santa Cruz is now shifting much better.

Something I really like in a bike shop is when they quickly figure out that I am an experienced cyclist and work with me accordingly. This particular shop has been pretty good about that the ~3-4 times I've gone.

They do a good job of stocking things for commuters, casual recreational cyclists, and more serious or competitive cyclists. Even though they were running low on some models of road cycling helmets, I was able to find one that fit my head and my cycling habits well.

Very minor nitpick: I wanted a cheap-ish floor pump that I will probably only use for a couple months, but most of the pumps did not have prices tags on them.

I called many bikes shop around town looking for Specialized tires had to look on Google and it lead me to mikes bikes in Berkeley I came from fairfield nice guy name Andre 😀 hooked it up with the best service A+++ I picked up 2 specialized tires and a tube 😀also he told me my brakes are bad so I got them fixed also for sure coming back for an upgraded bike for my birthday on May 11 #teamspecialized

This place is so supportive, kind, and fun! I went in to get my bike checked up before a race and they not only were encouraging for my event, but were conscious to not over-do a tune up / overcharge (when they probably could have) but just gave me what I needed. LOVE this place!

I like being able to check they have what I need online and then swing by to pick it up. Have had two bikes go through their service department and come out feeling like new.

Buy from Mike's Bikes of Berkeley because they help out their local community. Sam, the owner, supports our local high school team, and he is always super helpful when my son and I come in to purchase upgrades for his bike and mountain biking equipment. They're convenient, and know their stuff!

Quick, friendly and professional service at great value. The assortment of road tires could be wider, but was good enough for me to be in and out with a pair of tubeless Pirellis installed in less than an hour. I’ll go back for servicing my race bike.
