Awesome. Great selection of books on the topic of building. I wish I could have spent a few more hours! I’ll definitely be back.

This was my first visit to this location. I used to frequently visit the location in Ghirardelli Square before the owners chased out all the good shops from the square. I loved the unique selection of books here and did not leave empty handed.

Simply the best independent bookstore in the Bay Area. Well-curated with knowledgeable staff to help you pick the best books for you. Everything from interior design and how-to guides to technical resources for contractors. Great books for kids, too! I highly recommend Builders Booksource to everyone

Builders Bookstore isn't just for architecture and construction buffs. Don't get me wrong - the store has a very well-deserved reputation for its shelves of building and landscape books. But there's much more!

I like to browse the children's section. On one visit, I found some interesting biographies of lesser-known historical figures. Another time, a vibrant book about California's natural history caught my eye. On an adjacent shelf, I got lost in the complex sticker books - like paint with numbers, but with stickers.

If you're a builder of any sort, be sure to stop by. If you're not, you can still find delightful reads.

I always wanted to pretend I was an architect (or city urban planner for that matter) and Builder's scratches that itch. So what if the only cities I'm building are in SimCity? This is one of those bookstores that I love to browse because I find something new every time I walk in.

About a third of the store is dedicated to technical books specific to code, contractors, building regulations, etc., but the rest of the store has the fun stuff. You can find nice hardbound with glossy paper books on architecture, urban planning, design, structural engineering, and even local interest with some independently-published local author books. They even have good kids books and a few non-book gift-type things.

This is my go-to refuge whenever I'm brought along on shopping trips to 4th Street. And I almost always walk out with gift to myself.

My absolute favorite bookstore in the entire region. Pretty specialized for urbanists, DIY-ers, planners, home renovation types, and architecture fans, but if you fall in that niche this place has got you covered. Transit books, map collections, intro-to-coding books for kids, construction cost manuals, etc.

Quiet, nice, small bookstore with a good selection of books on everything relating to building, from small-scale how-to guides for the average handyperson to books on world-class architecture.
