Visiting from Colorado and looking for great sushi. Walked from University of California campus about 20 minutes. Walked in greeted and seated right away. Service was outstanding! Atmosphere busy yet pleasant. The Sushi here prepared to perfection!
Definitely recommend if looking for Sushi along with other Japanese cuisine.

After many years, this sushi and Japanese restaurant is still quite good and popular. The fish in my sashimi was fresh, the clam miso was quite hot (hate it when miso is like warm which often is many sushi restaurants). The service was pretty fast though they were busy as always.

Amazing food and service. Definitely recommend the Beef Teriyaki! The rock-n-roll roll is also delicious as well as the Inari.

Really high quality sushi with simple design. Price is pretty hefty but the rolls are really good especially the eel and rainbow rolls. A bit of a wait if you arrive right as they open. Recommend ordering the rolls and the short ribs. Squid is okay, shrimp skewers are not worth it. The terrayaki salmon is pretty good, and the katsus are all definitely very crispy but I would order raw fish if I were here as that is definitely their specialty.

Come here if you want fresh sushi. The black cod robata was so delicious! The kids enjoyed their tempura and katsu dinners. The katsu was on the lean side so it was a bit tough. Bring cash if you can. They charge an additional 4% if you pay with a credit card.

We came for a late dinner. It was packed but everyone was still super warm and welcoming. Our server and hostess were so nice. The sushi and sous chefs were amazing and went above and beyond at the end of the night. We had the chawan mushi, gyoza, uni, tsukemono, sukiyaki, and beef katsu, and a taste of the tamago. Everything was superb and full of flavor. Eat in and make sure you try the tamago. You won't regret it.

Really fresh food with quality preparation. We loved everything we tried. Definitely pricey for the quantity though. Service was fast and polite.

This is a very quaint and cozy restaurant and the food is fresh and delicious. They don’t vary the menu too much, which I prefer because I know I will be able to order my favorites.

I haven't found a downside to this place. Yes, a line forms but it's not too crazy. I've arrived right at five and got a seat immediately. Arriving around seven will cause a little bit of a wait, but there's a bar and they serve food off the robata. I've tried almost everything and highly recommend the spider roll, squid off the robata (order two if your with someone, because sharing its NOT an option), blackened cod (recommended by the waitress and now will always be on the order), and the wagyu beef is cooked to perfection. Not heavily seasoned and automatically cooked to medium rare.

This is a wonderful Japanese restaurant. There is often a wait for a table, but the waits are usually short. The rolls are wonderful. My favorite is the Dragon roll. There is a large menu with Japanese salads, sushi, bento boxes, sashimi, noodles and tempura.

Fabulous broth on Sukiaki and Nabeyaki Udon, delicious seafood pot stickers. Most importantly: great service! The owner is so chic, gracious and beautiful! All waiters were so kind and fun! We will be back!

This is my favorite sushi place in Berkeley! So fresh and delicious and the staff are all very friendly. On weekends there is ALWAYS a wait but it usually goes pretty quickly in my experience.

I can’t think of a better sushi restaurant in the East Bay. Note: California roll is made from real crab NOT Krab (or imitation crab made from fish mashed into a paste) which is served in every other sushi restaurant I’ve eaten at.

Being from Hawai'i, we eat Japanese food quite often. This place is definitely my top 3 places to eat sashimi and sushi. The sake was also noteworthy.

Food was really good, although we didn't try the sushi. Service was good. They kept our water and green tea filled. It's a small eating area, so be aware that there's a wait time get table. We came early: around 4:45 pm on a Sunday and they open at 5pm. There was already a short line. The line lengthened by 5pm. If your party is more than 4 people, definitely get there early before opening to get a table.

I had the grilled marinated mackerel and it was delicious! My uncle enjoyed his salmon teriyaki. My nephew liked his udon - the broth was very yummy. The tonkatsu my brother ordered was perfect. We also ordered edamame, Agedashi Tofu, and grilled eggplant for appetizers and loved it.

As usual Kerala delivers . Expect a wait - they don’t take reservations. But the wait is worth it. The sushi of course but the robata is to die for. I recommend the lamb chop and the black cod and the stuffed mushroom

Fantastic sushi but be prepared to wait unless you get there before opening for dinner service at 5:30 pm. It is totally worth the wait. Delicious with every bite

This place is great, they make everything just right, it is a bit on the pricy side but well worth it. Portions are satisfying.
I have been coming here for years and they are always right on the spot with food and service. The quality is very consistent.
The fish is always fresh, the Uni is always delicious, the lobster tail is fantastic, the sobas are superb, the tempura is crispy and the batter is so light. And then there is Robata, yum.
I could write poems about their food.
They also have a great sake bar, with some delicious cold sakes.
They take great care in the presentation, with beautiful plates and sake sets.
They have had the same staff more or less for more than a decade, you get to know the staff which makes the dining experience even more satisfying. Kimi and Kuneo will always welcome you with a smile.
I guess it is obvious that I love this place.

The best and most authentic Japanese restaurant in the East Bay!! Their hamachi is melt in your mouth delicious. The cooked cod is amazing. And even their California rolls are great (normally I don’t like them at restaurants because they taste fake - here they were soo fresh). Want to try everything on their menu!!!
