I love this bookstore !
When you walk in the atmosphere is so friendly and warm, I just love it. The owner and his cat (who is in the store) are very friendly and sweet.
Good selection of books but I personally like looking at the art prints. Perfect place to go to chill at during a rainy day. Highly recommend!

What makes an excellent Indie bookstore? It's in the name. Sleepy Cat Books was something I happened upon while adventuring in Berkeley. You should adventure too.

Happily I found a copy of the international bestseller, The Travelling Cat Chronicles. I finished it yesterday. If you have not read it, do! For me it was as if I was revisiting my time in Japan.

It's as if the bookshelves know what you are looking for and provide the answer. It is important for me to spend dollars when I am in another city. How fortunate I feel to be introduced to this shop.

The place feels so gentle and as if I got up from my bed to then pet my cat and return to cuddle up with a great book. They had good recommendations and decently priced used books. But of course this would not be a good review of Sleepy Cat Books without mentioning the adorable rescued cat who is the real draw of it all :) worth going to nab a photo with her and the trademark bookmark!

What a serene and charming bookstore! It is so quiet and cozy inside, and I felt like I could stay in there for hours…I honestly didn’t want to leave lol. There’s a great selection of books and postcards, and the owner and Lyla (the store cat) are so kind and sweet!! I will definitely be coming back as it has become my favorite bookstore. I recommend for anyone to give Sleepy Cat Books a visit.

Wonderful small shop full of interesting titles for affordable prices, as well as an interesting array of wonderful postcards. Got to meet the sleepy little lady Miss Lyla in the fur as well, & she was so sweet! :) The owner was very friendly and kind as well. Overall a wonderful experience! Definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area & have the time.

I very like this place! The owner is so friendly, sweet, and kind same as Lyla (the cat) but when I got there she was just sleeping in her place next to the owner. Like the shop name “Sleepy Cat Books” But she still let me touch her. The owner is also very nice, he answered all my questions that about Lyla (because I was more interested in her than the books 😂) and also helps me find places to adopt cats. And I also got some books that not that expensive and I think it's a great value. I highly recommend it!!

The best independent bookstore in Berkeley! I absolutely love coming here to pick up new reads and to see Lyla, of course! The owner and Lyla are the sweetest and the store is just so charming. My favorite thing is the bookmarks you get along with your books, as they feature Lyla! Always a pleasure visiting.

Visited this store today, store is preety impressive, nice owner, limited books but the taste of owner is enough for a reader to see the variety of books. Sleepy cats is another best thing in the store. I will say this is the kind of store I want when I retire.

Super sweet bookstore!! I was getting my iPhone repaired at iResurrect (also a great shop on Telegraph) and stumbled upon this book store. It has popular, current titles as well as classics. And the prices are super fair. Plus, they have the best selection of postcards!

As I was looking around, several people came in to say Hi to the owner and his cat. It was touching. And the cutest thing ever is the bookmark I got when I purchased a book. It is of the cat ;)

I have never been to the US nor the Sleepy Cat Books but I had a chance to see a picture with a cat sleeping by the window made me love this bookstore so much. Hope one day I can visit your bookstore physically kkkk.

My absolute favorite book store !!!! The selection of books is so cool I can’t help but buy 2-3 when I go in. The owner is the nicest person ever and the store name is accurate because there’s always the cutest sleeping white cat by the register. 10/10 recommend!!! Also forgot to add but it’s very reasonably priced too

I love this shop!! They had a wonderful selection of used books in good condition, and at fair prices :) Additionally, the store itself is so cute, and the presence of a sleepy cat definitely adds to the vibe. The person who helped me behind the counter was very polite. Definitely stop by!

Adorable! The owner is really friendly and the store cat is such a sweetheart if you need to get your cat fix. The bookstore has a good selection of deals and small reads, stop by for some genuinely good vibes and unique books. It’s very clean and well organized too.

I do love this shop: quiet, welcoming, full of great choice literature & if you're lucky, a look at a sleeping or slinking feline. The range of books and beautifully crafted cards are always worth consideration :)

This bookstore is simply amazing. The options to choose from feel super personal (and you get the best of every genre). The store itself is extremely cozy (which is exactly the feel I look for in a bookstore) and the fact that there are cute cats there. COUNT ME IN. I am beyond happy that this store exists in all its glory. Fully recommend. It’s just so worth it.
