Excellent selection of French and Italian wines at many price levels. Many at the proper age to drink. Be cognizant in your inquiries with the staff that some will definitely need some time to age. This is a treasured local wine oasis! Cheers!

I've been a customer of Kermit Lynch now for over 34 years. The store is like a candy store for wine lovers. They have everything, and a great staff too. For lovers of wines from the wine roads less traveled, there's no better store in the country. For me it's an adventure along the wine route come to life. The biggest problem, is just having so many great choices, and a staff that makes every bottle come to life.

Can it get any better? There is an aura of worship for quality wine when you walk in. Staff is super interesting and helpful. All price points available. I know it's strange to have a favorite wine importer, but Kermit Lynch is just that for me. Been loving the juice they pick since I discovered them 2004ish. Must visit if you love wine !

It is always good to have different options. I subscribed their monthly wine club after I tried a couple of their French wine. Good selection. ACME bread next door is also a must stop by place.

My favorite wine is sold here, their 2020 $14 Cotes Du Rhone is amazing and better than many $50 bottles of Châteauneuf-du-Pape I've tried. Many other great wines at super reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

Kermit is a great merchant. I've been doing business with him since he worked as a wine clerk for somebody else, 40 years ago. I bought a bottle of Cote Rotie from him for $4.95. (It costs $70 now.) I don't agree with all of his tastes, and he's a Yankee merchant who will skin you if he can, but he's brilliant. His secret, as some wine reviewer once said, is that "he trusts his own taste." He has wines that cost, and are I suppose worth, over $200/bottle. But what's appealed to me all these years since I was a starving grad student, is that he finds really good, inexpensive wines, , $10 - $22, in unusual places like Corsica, (which is legendary for adulterated and vile wines.) Go in to the shop and ask the clerk to fill a case with 12 different wines, none more than $22. Give him some idea what you like. Then taste the wines. You'll know what to do.

Best wine shop in Berkeley or Oakland. He imports his own wine! He specializes in Rhone wine.

I'm aging myself to admit I've been buying wine from Kermit Lynch since the shop's early days as a hole in the wall in Albany. They were one of the first out there with an unusually discerning selection of what were then off-the-beaten-track French wines. And didn't hurt that Kermit's palate was very compatible with mine. Still consistently excellent after all these years.

A great gem in Northern California with an immense selection of French and Italian wines.A place for the knowledgeable, and with a great staff for novices as well. Affordable wines that in comparison to california wines, incredible value! A great place to learn from knowledgeable people who work there too!

The absolute greatest retailer of honest European wines in the US. They constantly seek out the best values in premium artisanal wines to satisfy the casual drinker as well as the wealthy oenophile. Just read "Adventures on the Wine Route"!

What a great shop, loads of wines in so many varieties. Absolutely fabulous staff, always ready to answer questions or offer suggestions as needed.
It definitely doesn't hurt that Acme bread is next door either 😉

We are newer members of the Adventures Kermit Lynch wine club but have been really happy with the wines and customer service so far. We get 2 wines per month, one red and one white. There is a write up that talks about the wines, the region and the winemaker. You also get a recipe from Christopher Lee although some of the recipes are bit too complicated for me to make. ;) If you are looking to try some really interesting varietals from interesting regions in France and Italy, give Kermit Lynch a try. Wines don't have to be super expensive although Kermit Lynch also carries that as well. Customer service is also top notch. Dustin is our main contact and he is really on top of things.

Kermit Lynch has been importing French wines for 40 years. I have had occasion to try a few, and have never been disappointed. The clerks at the store are very knowledgeable, and will guide you in terms of region, food pairings and price point. There are also some wines that he is involved with producing, looking forward to trying my latest purchase. If I lived near Berkeley, this would be a regular wine stop for me.

The place to get your wine. I love their Euro $12-$25 selection. Did not get burned yet. The staff is very knowledgable, they are to blame for one of my fave 2019 wines. It was from Corsica!
