BCBC Berkeley Chinese Baptist Church

I am Japanese and only know how to say thank you in Cantonese. I am not a regular member here, and I am not baptized. I do not have any relative who goes to this church on a regular basis. But after visiting this church multiple times, and spending some time with the brothers and sisters there, you feel that you are part of the family. They are very warm and kind. Regardless of who you are, if you appreciate who they are, they will appreciate you. Even if your door is closed, the door is always open at BCBC (yea, but make sure you don’t go there at midnight by yourself, I am sure the door is physically locked). During their Cantonese service, I believe they have mandarin translation. I don’t understand Cantonese at all, and my Mandarin is very limited, but I do enjoy sitting there too as people are nice. If you are not comfortable when people around you are speaking something you don’t understand, then you can go to their English service. If you don’t speak any of these languages, then maybe knock on some other door.
I occasionally pop into their gatherings and I enjoy being around. If you are looking for a church in the area, just go and chat with the people there. I am sure they will make you feel at home. Thumbs up!

I have joined BCBC for 10+ years. This is my spiritual home like a big family with brothers and sisters ages from 0 to 100. We spend time studying the Bible, sharing our experiences, praying for each other, caring for our children, helping the elderly, and reaching out to newcomers. We support each other going through life's ups and downs. We are grateful. We are loved. We are happy. God has blessed BCBC for 50 years and beyond!

When we arrive to USA. We found this Church 2001!! Great place and memories my family made. Big Thanks To David and Anita KO family who gave us ride to church every Friday night for Youth Group. BCBC has been supporting us Breakthrough Fellowship as student ministry for Cantonese speaking students at UC Berkeley. We have had generations of students flowing into Berkeley and going out fully equipped with God's wisdom. BCBC is serious about serving university students with their spiritual needs and growth.

We have a solid Chinese congregation with different age groups - seniors, adults, young family, students, and even kids. Most of us are Cantonese speaking and we form a good community of God with similar background.

Traditional worship style, love it. Unlike those nightclub loud style. Congregation is friendly and welcoming. Chinese pastor personally greets every new visitor each time.

The church's sidewalks have been covered with garbage, feces, broken glass, plastic, and similar for several years now since People's Park Residents were moved nearby. The sidewalks are perpetually unpleasant and an eyesore for the neighborhood.

With a few hundred worshippers coming every week to the church, one would think a small volunteer squad could clean up the public areas on a routine basis as a courtesy to nonmembers.

Refer to the first review, Wendy Fong is the wife of the pastor. It's not thing wrong if Wendy declared her situation when she wrote the review. Otherwise the feeling is you guys are the judge and the player in the same match. You may not agree I use the word dishonest to describe this issue. What about the other reviews? Are they your relatives ? Nobody will believe in these reviews. Only 6 reviews, and they are all 5 star. This is an Ad, may not really reflect the reality of the church's reputation. On the other hand, if the 52 years old church is doing good, this Ad is not necessary at all.
My advice is to spend more time to prepare the sermon rather than this kind of AD. Alternatively, to concern the people who hasn’t been your church for a certain time? Do you guys know God is watching over you?
