Mel’s Diner

It was a surprise. I stopped here to charge my car. People are very friendly, not just the staff even their customers. Many of them are large groups of friends and family. Lots of laughs and fun. Staff was taking care of all with a lovely smile on their face. I just ordered a vegetable burger, they gave me with awesome taste. Not sure when I will go to Jackson, CA again, but surely visit this place.

I'm back again!!

The Chicken Fried steak, country potatoes with bell peppers!! Thank you for serving the food hot and seasoned right. I would give 6 stars if I could!

First time here. It was the 4th of July so I was ready to wait.
My order was wrong. No big deal. It was reserved Fast and the food was hot. I look forwards to coming back soon.

First time to go to Mel and Faye's Diner. Two of us went for breakfast. I had biscuits and gravy and eggs benedict. (That was a special of the day). The biscuits and gravy were amazing. We were told that they by the meats from a butcher down the street. You can really tell it in the flavor. My spouse had chicken, fried steak and gravy and a waffle. This place is a must go to on your next adventure through or to Jackson.

My wife and I split an order of Surf & Turf and it was more than enough and tasted great. Our group was 12 adults and our waitresses were very gracious with great service. We dined there two days in row .👍

So much bettér than fast food burgers, so much better. Been eating moo burgers since 1979. Thanks Mel& Faye . If you want good food, good service. They know how to do it, and they do it better than most. For a great low price. No comparison***** best place in the mother lode, hands down.I wish they would open a local a car dealership .

A completely random find on the drive from Yosemite to LA. Stopped for lunch and the place was buzzing, obviously really popular with locals. You can understand why - food was great as was the service. Dine with confidence.

Mel's Diner has exactly the kind of food you would expect from a restaurant with this name; good, homey American dishes. The date of establishment is 1958 and it definitely has that 50's look. It's nice that there is outside dining. Despite the huge amount of customers because of a car show, Jennifer provided outstanding service!

Delicious food, generous portion sizes and reasonably priced. ♡ The ladies were all very nice and quick on refills. The restroom was clean and pleasant. The environment was fun and enviting. We had a lovely breakfast and will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

I had the fish and chips, yummy! Their tarter sauce is different and worth a trip just for it.

They were very busy but our waitress was attentive and paid attention to details.

I went to this restaurant not long ago and being a recent semi resident I find myself there on a regular basis. The establishment is viewable from the road has a large parking lot, close to 60+ cars, oversize and Tesla chargers available. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, and their is even a larger capacity banquet room downstairs accessible via elevator or stairs. Indoors there is two rooms to choose from when eating, the main dining area or the bar, both have tables. The main area has a sit down counter that fits about 10 people and the main room has about 15-20 tables/booths to sit at. I usually sit at counter as I like to read and talk with the staff. Everyone there from the servers, dishwashers, bus people, cooks will engage you in conversation and EVERYONE is super nice. Bart and his wife Moua are super cool, couldn't ask for nicer people.

The food: Mel's has specials for dinner on practically every evening. Taco Tuesdays, Thursdays - Chicken Parmesan, Friday - Prime Rib or Steak, and the Chicken parm with a drink ran me about $16 very affordable. And it was awesome, it hit everything that I like about in Chicken Parm. This dinner for example comes with a salad, desert, dinner and bread.
They have a variety of deserts like pies, Sundays, shakes etc. And the menu is about 4 pages long. They do breakfast, lunch and dinner. Credit cards are accepted.

I have nothing good to say about this place other than it's my favorite place to eat. I love the environment, hospitality and best of all the food. Fresh burger patties and food. The service is great but the drinks are better. You must order the chili cheese fries 🍟 and a double cheese burger with onion rings along with a strawberry 🍓 shake. Let's not forget the pies!!!! OMG soooo good. Try all of them and if you come on Thursday you can have the most Amazing lemon bar ever!

Took less than 10 minutes for food to arrive....fresh and hot!!!!!
Couldn't finish, took home half of my sandwich.......Next time, we will stop in for breakfast. GREAT customer service.

Good service. Good prices. Good food. Good peanut butter shake for dessert. . . . UPDATE-2nd Visit: Again we asked a local where to go for a good breakfast & they said "Mel's". We love this place now. Sat at the counter (we like to watch the process). Everybody just flows together perfectly. They asked eachother for help & nobody copped attitude like some places. It was a well oiled machine all working together. Provides great customer service that way. Food was ordered & came quickly. Plates didn't sit at the pass waiting for pick up. Was cooked perfectly. We cleared our plates, even the fruit cup. I appreciated the bite size pieces. Not the big chunks like other places. We'll be back for sure. Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food. Thanks for breakfast y'all.

When I eat here, I get so full I feel like I’m gonna pop! Everything is delicious, the staff is great!

One of the best & most popular spots in the county. Service was quick despite shortages in manpower. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive to us.

I went with a classic, the bacon cheeseburger...can't go wrong with it. Bacon was crispy, lettuce was fresh, cheese was melty, all on a hot patty and bun.

My friend had the french dip and she described it as "a very juicy and hearty meal."

We both had milkshakes, they have a TON of options. Highly recommend.

Old Timer Burger was best burger I have had in a very long time.
Drive from Sac well worth it. Will come back for more!

The food was delicious 😋. A busy place on Saturday night, but the service was friendly and fast.

What a great place to stop for breakfast, lunch or a great milk shake. Staff is super friendly even when they are slammed. Stopped in on the last day of a 5 day motorcycle ride and it was the best meal of the trip. Sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the staff work. Food was outta sight! If your hungry stop in and you won't regret it.

Pretty good sour dough hamburger and Fry's for a little over 10 dollars. Fast service even though they were busy. Seem to be a lot of employees so no wander it was fast service.
