If you are into hard rock gold mining history; you'll enjoy this interesting look into this particular part of the mining operations of the Kennedy Gold mine. The only surviving tailing wheel out of several that were constructed.
You can walk or drive to the top of the hill for an overview of the very large tailing pond.
The grounds include picnic tables, dog park for your pet. Public Restrooms are available.
Update: I want to mention, across the street, if you follow the dirt trail it will lead you to the remaining ruins of the tailing wheels continue. You will also be able to view the mine shaft elevator tower, as well as the old mine house. Enjoy the brief hike.

We made a stop here while on a school trip. Super educational and cool to see these huge wheels in person! If you have an interest in the Gold Rush and learning about the area, definitely make a stop here!

Plenty of parking. Hanicapped accessable all throughout the park. It is beautifully restored. You cant help but feel this place. The folks that made these wheels, the dam. This was made with real human hands, sweat, ingenuity. No fabrication. I am amazed at its beauty, their size, and their purpose. We take so much for granted. How easy it is to go to grocery store for food. How easy it is to flush a toilet, flip a light switch, hop in our car and just turn a key. I have much admiration and respect for the men and women who helped pave this easy way of life. And yes I got all of that from just being here.
Great job with the restoration. If not for them this review would not be possible.

Brilliant Park. A wonderful slice of history to be discovered here. It is very small, and can be quickly visited. A quick walk up the hill and you'll find out why these giant wheels were installed here 100 years ago. there is bathroom and water fountain facility as well as as info kiosk at the entrance and parking.

Very nice park on a hill with dog park, historical mining artifacts, a beautiful view at the top and lots of trees. Wish it was twice as big, but they did a remarkable job with the land available.

Amazing piece of California history. Amazing piece of California’s past and gold mining history. The park has wheels 3 and 4,, but mark sure you go across the road to see the wheel 1 or 2 which is very impressive.

If your desire includes filling your tank of knowledge with an interesting history lesson surrounding the mining operations of the 1800s, then you won’t be disappointed as the massive ruins of the tailing wheels tower above and crumble below. A very nice setup featuring wheels in different stages of ruin.

If you want a dog park however, you’ve arrived at the right place as well, featuring a fenced hill, benches, antechamber, and views of the tailing wheels. Watch out for rain due to the muddiness as there is no grass.

I did not expect the wheels to be that big. It is all free and you can see it all in 30 minutes.

Very interesting, really neat how they housed the last remaining one in tact to help protect it. Some cool local history in a nice setting. Not crowded at all. Bathrooms at the lower parking lot. You can drive to the upper parking lot, makes the small but steep hike much easier.

Never been to this park. I couldn't find the rules of this park online. I wanna bring my airgun just for target shooting. Don't like kill animals or so. I just watch them leave but shoot at rocks if not sticks that I find that I put them straight up and shoot them down. I also bring target paper in case. Also yes I watch out for any person who's walking by. When I see a person far distance I stop and move to another place for target shooting.

Amazing! The wheels were well worth it. Unusual and great history display. Plus there are picnic sites, restrooms and a dog park. Walk across the street to see the Kennedy mine and a cool Eagle Scout project. Best place in Jackson by far.

History abounds and the scenery is gorgeous. A dog park that you often find empty, and in which my dogs have never gotten into trouble with another. With picnic tables, grills, and public bathrooms, it's a great lunch stop for anyone exploring all that lower Amador county has to offer.

Beautiful park with amazing display of the tailing wheels. There are picnic tables and nice clean restrooms. There is a very nice dog park with tables, dog toys, water bowl and spigot. Just across the street you can walk the nicely groomed trail to the mine!

When we first moved here this was little more than a bathroom with a few historically important features that were dilapidated and falling down. Within the last year or so the park restoration project has really done a great job of restoring and beautifying it. New asphalt, proper care of the actual wheels and future protection of them. A dog park, and a beautiful Vista area with handicap access is amazing. Seating for a outdoor lunch. All the displays properly labeled and instructive. My kids and I thoroughly enjoyed the new layout.
