I ordered the 7 Mares soup. Wonderful! It was delicious 😋. This soup had plenty portions of shrimp, octopus, mussels, clams, white fish, and crab 🦀 legs. The soup had plenty of carrots, chayote, celery, onions, Cilantro, and fresh tomatoes and bell peppers in a mild chile herb broth 🌶 .
If you like eating soup with a large round soup spoon, bring your own. The spons here are too narrow to scoop up so much deliciousness.

This was a wonderful new find. My husband had 3 crunchy chicken tacos. They were delicious and with a heaping serving of chicken. I had shrimp nachos which were incredible. The shrimp were well seasoned and plentiful. If you are in the area, be sure to check it out.

Taqueria Maria is still a great place to eat. Fresh food that's prepared great and they have a salsa bar where you make your own cups of salsa. You get to choose from four types of salsa, pico de gallo, jalapenos, carrots and radish. This time I have the taco salad. It was awesome, I had mine with grilled chicken and a mix of refried and black beans. But I am very sorry, because couldn't stop feeding my face before eating everything, even the little bag of extra chips. I didn't take any photos of the food. But I can say it looked delicious, and from my experiences, it's usually very delicious looking along with tasting fabulous. I've noticed that when the food is good, it's very hard remembering to take photos before diving in.

Been coming here since they opened. Prices vary. Certain items are pricey while others are reasonable.
At start of pandemic, food was not good due to take out only low turnover.

Usually order ala carte because reasonably priced and quantity is enough. Salsa is always really good especially since could taste.

Ordered enchiladas alacarte but opted for the green sauce. Was delicious!!! Must be new cook or recipe change cuz this time it was flavorful, tangy AND spicy. Hard to fine green sauce thats tangy and spicy. Only know of one place in Hayward (los pericos in dwntwn) that makes it like this. Never understood the purpose of large dollop of sourcream on top.

Definitely recommend if need some real and GOOD mexican food.

It's been years since I've been here. Friends treated us to dinner and it was so good. I like that they have a salsa bar with not just salsa, but cut limes and radishes. The shrimp cocktail was very flavorful. I was surprised to see that the shrimp were fully cleaned. A lot of the bigger chain restaurants don't even do that. The horchata was so so. A lot grainier than I'm used to, and it could use more flavor. It was a bit mild and could be blended a little longer.
The hubs got a steak burrito he really enjoyed. Good size for the price. We also had sides of rice and beans. You can see them scoop it up fresh from their pots. Their homemade chips were done well. Other places are burnt. These were perfect. Overall great experience.

Very sweet and helpful staff! I ordered a affordable chimichanga that was HUGE lol… I ate every bite. Definitely recommend and will be returning.

Excellent food! The restaurant is quaint but perfect for a casual sit down lunch or dinner. The grilled chicken is fantastic in all of their dishes!

The food is delicious and tastes "authentic". The filling in the burritos and tacos is bountiful and very filling. They have a nice seating area. They also give you a bowl of chips and offer a variety of salsas to choose from. This is my new favorite Latin food place! 🌮🌮🌮

One of the best mexican restaurants in the East bay.

Very nice workers. Food was great tasting. I had two enchiladas with pastor. My wife had taco and enchiladas plate. Pastor meat tasted awesome! Gave a thumbs up to the cook!

The prices are great; I got two tacos a side of rice chips and salsa and a large drink for less than $11. One tacos was shredded chicken and the other was steak, I got it with the hot salsa right on it. Both were fantastic.

As far as the restaurant itself goes, the food came out quickly, the staff was courteous, and one very nice thing to see, the whole time I was there someone was cleaning something. Whether it was wiping down the glass, wiping counters, or the obvious cleaning the tables, they wanted to make sure the place was clean, and it was.

If you are looking for a fancy, sit down restaurant, that's not what this is. But if you want really tasty food in a clean setting with good prices, you won't be disappointed.

Oh - and their homemade hot salsa is delicious.

I eat here more than my diet allows and I have no regrets. I only get the salsa Verde and I find it very refreshing (I can't handle spicy).

I'm going! This has to be in my top ten Mexican restaurants in the Richmond area! The steak nachos! Mmmmmm.the meat was so tender and they didn't skimp out on it either! The prices are fair for the quality of food and service. Everything is cooked fresh so don't expect a quick in and out experience but, it is worth the short wait.

Okay peeps, here we go.
My first vist to Taqueria Maria was on a Saturday, about 11 am. I ordered the Menudo. When you see this item on the menu, I think AUTHENTIC place. The real deal.
The soup arrived and it was large, hot and smelled so good, very beefy. The chile broth was just right: not bland but not overly spicy. The condiments added to the whole fullfilling experience. Fresh cilantro (which I think is totally Cali-Mex because you would not get this in New Mexico, Arizona nor in Texas) and fried red chile pods, oregano, and chopped onions. All this into the witches magic cauldron and YUM, YUM, YUM! Animal, herbs, and spices. Blessed be. Even the warm tortillas were delicious.
The small restaurant was clean, and service is quick.
Aplausos 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I will return to Taqueria Maria at Richmond Hilltop.

Best Taqueria in Richmond, hands down. The al pastor is bomb.

The food is made to order, using fresh, delicious ingredients. My bae and I love to get our grub on when we are shopping nearby. We have had the burritos, the tacos, nachos, and quesadillas. Each was served on a clean dish, nice portions & simply dressed. Nothing fancy here, just good solid, fresh food. The atmosphere is nothing to write home about, but very kept up and welcoming
