Came in for late breakfast at 11am on a weekday. Ordered the huevos rancheros.

Table was supplied with chips and salsa while the food was being prepared, which was really nice as I was hungry.

The food arrived quickly, and was delightfully steaming hot. I like that. The eggs were perfectly set but not solid, and covered in sauce. The rice and beans were great, and were exactly what I was craving. The meal came with tortillas. I chose the flour tortillas and they were perfect for wrapping the eggs in.

Price was very reasonable. Portions were generous. Restaurant was clean.

The owner was working the register, taking orders, running plates to tables, and was still able to make conversation and display a great attitude.

I look forward to returning and trying the lunch offerings.

Well…well! WELL! 🔥It took almost three years but I finally discovered a Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area that caters to my discerning Tex Mex taste! Yeah! Portumex Mexican Restaurant in Richmond finally won my 🩷! I ordered a canasta con carne asada! Basically a delish taco shell with steak stuffed with delicious beans, rice, onions and cilantro. The red and green salsas were tasty and I also liked the crema!

I had a friend pick up the food but I’m excited about taking my people to try other dishes!

I give this place my thumbs 👍🏽 up!

Lmk if you have Bay Area Mexican food favorites I need to try.

I literally grew up with Portumex ! I will always come home and get a steak 🥩 Cancha! It is the best hands down! & if you like spicy sauce get the green sauce, the red one is more my preference.

Had their chile relleno for lunch. I asked for a little salad. Food was great. I hadn't been here in ages. Next time I'll try their camarones a la diabla plate.

Five stars in their category. Significant improvement since the last time I was there. Food tasted very fresh and in good quantity. If you like Coca cola with your lunch order the one in a bottle and a glass full of ice on the side. It's the best tasting Coke. It's Mexican and made with sugar not high fructose corn syrup.

Good food. I ordered 3 ground beef crunchy tacos 🌮 and they was very good like always. They are kinda expensive there for 3 Tacos and a can soda was 22.00

Chicken enchiladas or chicken fajitas? That's my problem every time I come here!!! Everything is so damn good and hella fresh! The carne asada tacos are sent from the taco Gawds!!!

Great food. Authentic Mexican. Chile Rellenos are the best I have had: light breading, flavorful cheese and a delicious sauce. Prices are very reasonable.

I really love their carne azada torta with everything on it and a side of chips and salsa 😋 I also really love their chicken enchiladas. Definitely recommend giving them a try if you're in the area since these dishes are just my personal faves😊

My go to place in Richmond. They have gotten pricey, but quality and super clean.

This place is awesome. I have so many memories from my childhood in this place.My uncle use to send me to pick up food from here almost every week.It was nice to see same people serving our food.Great customer service and delicious food. Good food and good service from the cashier to the bussers. The red salsa is yummy but spicy... Green salsa is even more spicy. Good size tacos and free chips and salsa??? Need I say more? They have their own little parking lot which makes it a little easier to get to. A gem in Richmond. I recommend it.

Great Food and very reasonably priced and everyone was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu products.

The food is top dollar! Its a little in the pricey side, but you get bigger proportions so it's worth it. The venue is kind of small and there are plenty of seats, so needless to say tables are pretty close to one another, but there is 3 different areas at the restaurant outside that you can eat as well as inside. All outdoor seating is beautiful, it may be hard to choose. Service is amazing! Will continue to eat here!!

This spot is a Richmond gem. It might have bad reviews because of the location and what people expect when they go to a restaurant. But if you want authentic Mexican food it's definitely good

Excellent food! ME and my family drove from Elk Grove,CA twice in the last month to order food and sit in the park lot for dining. We lived in San Pablo for many years and frequently went to Portumex. Authentic in 2003. Authenticity continues 2021!!!! Pictures will be taken on next Adventure.

This is one of my favorite places to get Mexican food. Service is great food is delicious. They have vegetarian options. I got and veggie burrito it was delicious . I also got nachos with cheese , guacamole and sour cream.The person I was with got beef enchiladas dinner and a taco . We were so full and couldn't finish all our food . Leftovers for dinner

The outside dining is cute 😍 the michelads are awesome 👌🏾 the mole / enchilada sauce is Hella good . The tacos salad 🥗 the concha is sooo fresh . 😋

I called in my order as we are supporting #takeouttuesday and enjoying 1 meal on a Tuesday from a small business and they did NOT disappoint . I called in my order and was told 15-20mins for it to be ready for pick up. I was there in 15mins and it was ready. The prices were awesome and not as high as they could be as the quality was unlike anything I have experienced in a while. I fed 7 ppl for under $60. Everyone enjoyed the food and we will be back. Please support small business and support this amazing restaurant.
