I went here since kindergarden!! I loved my teachers they r so nice some aren't MRS. Melissa rude but I still love her... mrs.Glazer and Mr. Lopez r amazing! I've made great friends here.. there r some bullying problems but other than that it's great in my opinion. I've been there for 7 years and couldn't have asked for a better school. Thanks for making my school experience amazing. Love all teachers there!! Shout out to Mrs.Dandy, Mrs.Koehn, and Mrs.sturgess for being da best plus I love Mrs. West, Mrs.Britton, and mrs.Jean♡

The staff is so kind my daughter is in first grade in ms kains class she is a awesome teacher my daughter is learning so much from her. I love how interactive they are with my daughter couldn't ask for a better school.

My son is in 1st grade at Van Horn, and he attended TK and Kindergarten there, as well. I've Absolutely LOVED ALL of his teachers...all 3 years!! That being said, I'd like to go On The Record as saying that "Miss Melissa", in the office, Desperately NEEDS TO Work on her people skills!!! She is the most Patronizing woman, and Constantly Talks Down to people! I REFUSE to deal with her At All, unless Absolutely NECESSARY (for the Good of My Child). I am surprised that she has not been terminated (Or, at least, "Talked To" about it!), because of the condesceding tone in which she speaks to Most People! I have, however, noticed that when she Really Likes Someone, her tone just couldn't be Any Sweeter! This is My Son's ELEMENTARY SCHOOL...Not HER Junior High!!! Everything Else about this school, so far, I LOVE!!! They Do need a little work on their testing scores, etc, but I believe that is Largely Due To "No Child Left Behind", because it slows down teachings Class/Schoolwide, wherein the problem TRULY Lies with the parents of the children that the govt. fears will be left behind in the First Place!!! But I digress...Mr. Lopez is an Awesome Principal, and the Assistant Principal, Mrs. Glaser (sp?) seems like a nice lady (this is her first year at Van Horn) and all of the Class and Yard Aides are really nice and seem to be Genuinely Concerned About and Care For Our Kids!! If not for "Miss Melissa", I'd give Van Horn 4.5 - 4.8 stars.

Some teachers are cool. I miss that school. But it's too late I'm in 6th grade. Is Mr. Lopez still the principal?

Mrs Melissa front office is a total Bi*ch I hope she reads this she constantly harrases children I've experienced it many times if she was fired it make the school at least a 3 star rating. Teachers are great very helpful WHEN A ONE ON ONE IS DONE only. Thankfully we won't be here long. If you have a choice go to another school!

I love the office staff at wayne van horn but my daughter third grade teacher Akins, Cesilie is the reason I have given one star. Mrs. Adkins is rude and needs more training especially with communication, I will not have to deal with her much longer and am so thankful for that. She will not send extra math home even though my daughter got a c- because they do math in class. Maybe if the teacher did her job better we wouldn't have this problem. Very low scores in almost all subjects at this school

Worse school my sister's ever been in and we've been to some bad places. The secretaries are rude and nosy. My mom and I work so hard so that my little sister can have a better life but these people don't understand what that is. They staff would bully my sister whenever she was late to the point where my sister would cry before going in. Whenever she felt sick they never would let her call me or my mom cause they said she was faking it. There was a girl bullying my sister for some time and they did nothing for the first 2 times my mom went to talk to them. They would always talk down on my mom as if she were less than them. The secretaries yell at the kids waiting in line for the school to open in the morning that they don't want them there. They literally yell at them to wait somewhere else. Most of those kids' parents got somewhere to be. Then they kicked my sister out because of her absences even though our babysitter lived in that area. Even if they were in the right they did it in a ugly way. They called my mom and said my sister wasn't "welcome here anymore," and that they didn't "want her in this school." Awful people they are. They don't care about the kids and the principal is a racist who looks down on people.
