Great beatiful and secluded park with trails, river access, parking lot basketball, volleyball court, 3 playground areas, so many places to walk, picnic, sit, or play. The restroom is the next thing to need an update there, the handicapped stall would not be sufficient for actual wheel chair use.

This park is beautiful! Large play area that is pretty shaded most of the afternoon. Grassy areas for picnics, volleyball area, and the skookumchuck river. Shallow areas to play for the littles, deeper swimming holes for older kids and adults. And lots of agates and other pretty rocks along the banks of the river. Something for everyone

We found this hidden gem today and had a really fun time exploring the nearby woods and splashing in the shallows. A really idyllic spot with tons of space for running around, picnic tables and shelters, large parking lot, picturesque bridge. It is also a float tube launching point. We talked to tubers who were starting there and floating to Riverside Park. They were told it would take about 2 1/2 hours.

Been going to this park for years . They are doing better at keeping the wrong people out. But really need to weed eat the tall grass so we can see kids swimming.

Beautiful, quiet, relaxing with a nice foot bridge over the Skookumchuck River. Has clean bathrooms. (We're when we went.)
Nice field area to picnic. Good sized playground. Occasion train close by.

I actually drove up from Longview just to walk the parks trails. I hadn't been there in many years and it brought back memories. The bathrooms were, not only "open", but they were clean and well stocked. There was very little litter around, and the tables and covered areas were all in nice condition. There were also plenty of people walking their dogs, and taking advantage of the nice large field area for games of fetch. I got to enjoy some "doggie love", and I never complain about that! Lol. Overall, this is a Great park to visit if you are in the area.

Our favorite place to take our kids to swim, and it's the safest place for all 3 of our kids ranging in age from 11 to 2 to swim and have fun. There's a play ground and a huge kitchen area. Lots of trails to hike or an empty field to just relax on the grass and read.

This is quite a beautiful park that's very great for kids and adults alike. the water is shallow in some areas. shallow enough for even the smaller kids to get into. While in other spots it is deep enough for older kids and adults to enjoy as well. It also has a walking path that is quite long, and very pretty. It takes you across a bridge over the water, and into the small sets of trees on the other side. It is primarily a shaded walk the entire time. It has a BBQ area/picnic area. And toys.

Wonderful little park. Recently upgraded playground. Beautiful river access. There is a bridge over the river that takes you to a 10 minute walk through the woods. Very dog friendly place.

Always one of my favorite local spots. It goes down during summer! Not so much the other 8 months but still cool. Much love Schaefer park👍🙂

Great swimming hole for the kids. Some genius family out an easy up in the shallows and looked super comfy. Not 200' away, deep enough to comfortably swim and the rope swing is long and easy to access.

There's volleyball and usually ample picnic tables to post up at. The family and I come here several times in the summer, nice little park 😊

Schaeffer County Park is a beautiful setting for picnics, BBQ, photos, or just to hang out. Also during the summer would a great location to cool off.

Definitely worth the visit! I come here lots during the summer along with many other people. Perfect for families, family picnics, birthdays, walking your dog, swimming, walking on the trails, and playing sports on the big flat areas of grass. There is a good amount of table benches near the river for people to sit so they can eat, watch their kids, or have a nice conversation. There is other areas scattered along the park with tables that have a roof covering them, but these are farther away from the water, they're more near the flat areas of grass. You should definitely come check it out and have a look. Not convinced? Theres a rope swing by the river. My father reinforced it so that people can swing again. That outta make you come 😅.

I almost forgot to mentioned that although the place is great for the summer, the only thing that could really use some maintenance is the bathrooms. Bathrooms are not always clean and most of the time they're closed. There is a porta potty in the parking lot, but that's up to you. Other than that, almost everything else is fine

Great park! Lots of picnic tables a kids park area. The railroad is right next to it but it’s not accessible from the park. My little kids enjoyed seeing and hearing the train! Will definitely come back to swim when it’s warmer. The bathroom was old but not filthy and had toilet paper.

Great place to bring the family or the four legged friend. Has a small playground for the little one's. And a couple of covered areas with tables. Also has a river running through that is lots of fun in the heat. Lastly it also has walking trails.

We always have a great time at this park. It's great for the littles to go swimming and the new playground is also awesome. They have a camp host that keeps things pretty cleaned up so that's a huge plus.

A really lovely park. There's an excellent spot for kayaking, which was why we came in the first place. The river has some light rapids, but it's more than doable. What blew me away was the park ranger who lives on site though. Our drybag lock on one of the kayaks got very stuck and he took more than a little time out of his day to help us retrieve our keys. +The bathrooms are clean
