I am beyond pleased with the service, quality, presentation, and taste of the red velvet cake ordered from Merengue. It was my first time and will for sure be returning! They went out of their way to make sure the velvet cake is what I expected and delivered on time. I was told they normally don't include personal notes with their cakes but I needed one included letting the bday know who is was from since it was a surprise. They went the extra mile and agreed - something that seemed small but made a huge difference. Overall they were just awesome!

This is my go-to for my caramel macchiatto after work or for pastries when snacks at home are not enough for my cravings. My husband loves the Beef Papas from here. Staff is always friendly and the bathrooms are always clean.

Cute little shop that offers great pastries, cakes and cookies. They sell breakfast food items, sandwiches and salads. The staff are friendly and everything inside is clean. It gets crowded but the lines move fast

I like old town Monrovia. I discovered this cute little Cuban restaurant/bakery called Merengue on Myrtle Avenue today. I ordered a Cuban tamale, strawberry shortcake and a double cortadito for lunch. I enjoyed all items I had and the prices were reasonable. There are still so many items I wanna try on their menu. I'll return.

One of the best pastries place ever meet in Los Angeles area. Prices are $$ considered the wide choice the very clean and cool environment. Nice people. A good place where come and have a sweet breakfast and work with the WiFi. Highly recommended.

Great Cuban bakery. It has been the local favorite bakery. Everyone lives around here knows this bakery. Famous for its guava and cheese Cuban pastries and cakes. For most of the birthdays in our house, we come here for Bday cakes. Red Velvet cake is the fave for everyone in our house.

Besides the cakes, I particularly like their potatoes ball with cheese and beef. When my daughter had an house warming party last year, we bought whole bunch of these ball and empanadas to feed the guests. Everyone can’t seemed to have enough of these.

My favorite though is their almond croissant. The croissants are crispy and buttery flaky. They are perfect for afternoon tea.

They also have extensive selections of sandwiches. I have seen a lot of people here for lunch. I need to try their sand witches next time.

During the pandemic, the bakery limits the number of allowed to go in at a time. All workers wear masks and glove. I feel safe to shop here.

Cute little shop on Myrtle! They have fed many celebrities as well!

We had a big event for our church to raise funds for our Restorative Justice Fund. We ordered 6 cakes from here in advance and working with management was really appreciated! They were very kind and helpful.

Will definitely come back here!

This is one of my favorite bakeries because of their delicious pastries. My ultimate favorite cake is their Cuban which is a yellow cake with a layer of guava and another layer of cream cheese topped with merengue frosting, so delicious! I also like their Creme Brulee as a dessert. This bakery never disappoints, basically everything on their menu is so good it all depends on your craving. Shout out to Danny and Ricardo for always being super helpful. Merengue is also very safe and caring during this Pandemic, even offered free kids meal in the past at the start of Covid showing support for the community.

Merengue has some really good cakes & are really good at decorating cake ! My sister became the cake person for our parties & she always buys amazing cakes from here , she has brought to parties a truck cake , beer designed cake , flower covered cake , record player cake ! They do cost a couple hundreds but they look beautiful & taste even better than they look. When you go to pick up your cake they are very helpful about making sure the cake doesn’t get messed up on the way home so they will put it in the car for you at times. Everyone loves the taste of these cakes !! They should start thinking about making Vegan cakes .

This place is so cute. The pastries and cakes look beautiful in the cases and taste amazing. I had a mocha latte that was slightly lacking in sweetness but that's just my taste. Highly recommend.

This is our first time at Merengue Bakery & Cafe it's a Cuban bakery just Porto's and Tropicana bakery but better flavors in theirs food and their pastrys and they are so good.

This is a pretty nice Cuban Cafe. The customer service was great and the food came pretty quick. I got a Chimichurri Chicken Sandwich on Cuban bread and it came with some plantain chips. Very good stuff, I’ll definitely be back! Also, they have outdoor seating which is great during these times.

Always great pastries and good food also.
They bakery is second to none...their cuban parties are to die for.
They do really good sandwiches and pretty good breakfast.
The new place is so much nicer than the old.
The staff always greet you with a smile, and walk you through the selection of pastries.
I would certainly recommend this place.

A favorite place to go for Cuban bake goods and wonderful breakfast and lunch items. Here is a 1/4 sheet fruit tart especially made for a family birthday party. Gorgeous and delicious!

I had the Cuban sandwich with plantains which was delicious! The sandwich was warm oozing with cheese and the plantains was thick and crispy. Could only eat 1/2 the sandwich since it was so filling. Be sure to leave room for desserts to try some of their pastries.

My go-to breakfast spot. Opens early, offers delicious food that's also affordable, and staff is very friendly. Line is long but not too long, and they've never messed up my order.

It's like your friendly neighborhood Porto's, but without the long lines, without waiting for parking, and definitely without people ordering hundreds of cheese rolls for a party just to impress other middle-aged women.

Granted the selection is more limited than Porto's (Porto's simply has a mind-boggling selection) , it's actually quite extensive if you consider their whole menu. Everything I've tried so far has satisfied me, if not impressed, and I haven't even tried their breakfast foods (the best kind of food according to many, including myself). Staff is friendly and prices are fair... Well so is Porto's i guess. Ok enough comparisons to Porto's- that's the last time I'll mention "Porto's".

Eating my rellenos in their cozy front patio listening to some awesome young no-name indie cover band with our phones tucked away is slowly becoming my new pastime. Is that normal millennial behavior? I don't care.

Not really any good way to segue into this, but you gotta try their carrot cake ball if you're a fan of carrot cakes, a fan of ball-shaped foods (read: rellenos), or just a fan of the yummy things in life. The form factor is amusingly offputting (I've yet to ask if they make the cake first, then form it into a ball, or if it's made into a ball in the batter stage- former method would be funny amirite?), but the taste and texture are memorable enough that I'm writing an entire paragraph about carrot cake.

Try them out one afternoon. Grab a seat (or bench) outside and listen to some kids expertly cover a song way before their time. People-watching and car-spotting included at no charge! These are all things that cannot be achieved at that other bakery, because let's be real, you can't "try out" Porto's- that's like saying I'll "try out Disneyland".

Cozy little place, super friendly staff and obviously speak Spanish since the store has Cuban roots. Very eclectic clientele and nice vibe. It was worth to drive all the way from Orange to see the place.

If you are watching your carbs try the mini's!🍋Featured in the picture, Lemon Tart, Chocolate dipped strawberry, Cuban Crackers and Cafe con leche! Everybody knows how delicious a chocolate strawberry is! The Lemon Tart is so tart and lemonny that if you like lemons than order this! Cafe was perfect. The Hector who served me made it spot on. I have never had it so perfect!
