Mama's Kitchen. Noodle & Dumpling World

It was a Friday night. We decided on a whim to order takeout from Mama’s Kitchen in Arcadia, California. We had to order by phone and enter the restaurant when she signaled us to pay and grab our food.
Despite these covid measures and no other customers in sight before or after us, a brief encounter with mama brought smiles to our faces. You could see her smile past the mask just by looking at her eyes. She even offered some freshly roasted peanuts.

What we’re eating: beef rolls （牛肉捲餅）, fried stinky tofu（炸臭豆腐）, and pork and fennel dumplings（茴香豬肉水餃). It tastes like home.

Stopped by sometime after covid started. Other reviews were right, the owner lady did not speak English, but her dumplings are AMAZING! Just point at the menu, lots of smiles, and you’ll be fine. :)

Quaint and Cozy. You'll immediately be greeted by the "mama" of the house who's really jolly and nice. She recommended a few dishes that were really good alongside my favorite soupy dumplings which they happen to also do really well. She's just a jolly sort. She was even peeking to see if we liked the cooking and laughed with us when the soup was a bit hot. In the end she gave us pens and free honey tea.

A small hole in the wall place with the ambiance of a little bodega. A huge freezer takes up much of the dining area but what is in that freezer is pure foodie gold. Ziplocks filled with dumplings, buns, and pot stickers are crammed tight, waiting to be taken home.

The food is excellent. The pork balls, potstickers, and buns are excellent. The beef roll has a delicious eggy twist. I can go back time and again because it is always top notch.

The true hidden gem is Mama. Always smiling and joking. Helpful and happy. She's an extremely proud grandmother with pictures of her grandson right on the counter. Also, like all good grandmothers, after she feeds the kids, she's ready for the kids to give her a hug.

Honestly, with it's small store front, it is really easy to drive past this place 100 times without ever stopping. Unfortunately, you'll be missing out on one of the Arcadia food scene's gems.

Mama! what a delicious selection of dumplings and authentic cuisine, this is a hole-in-the wall that I know Jonathan Gold and Anthony Bourdain would visit and shed some love on this fantastic place. scallion pancakes and pork dumplings are a must

Love their dumplings. The place is small, but pretty cozy. Friendly and great tasting red bean cake for dessert!

The best dumplings in town the have the Togo as well. If your having a big party and you want dumplings try this place. Hope this is helpful.

We have been eating at Mamas since she was in Alhambra, know and eaten here food for almost 10 years, Hua is a great lady good heart and makes a mean spicy tendon beef noodle soup, i have seen her grandson grow from a small boy, nice to eat with great people, Robi and i love Hua and the food she prepares.

One of my favorite Taiwanese places! Try her duck noodle soup and milk tea. It's the home made way or milk tea 😋.

Best Chinees food I had in a while, at first it looked like a simple Chines restaurant. After tasting the first bite it was an amazing experience.

Loved her home cooking styles. Delicious dumplings, noodles, and beef rolls.
