In the bustling heart of West LA, tucked away on Santa Monica Blvd., the Nuart Theater stands as a cinematic haven with a charming facade that sends me back to the bygone era of classic cinema. Its exterior, adorned with vintage marquee lights, beckons travelers to step into a world where time slows down.

Entering through the doors, the aroma of freshly popped popcorn envelops you, setting the tone for a night of cinematic delight. The staff, exuding warmth and friendliness, make you feel like a regular from the moment you walk in. We grabbed some popcorn, drinks, and a pack of jujubes and were off.

Inside, the Nuart Theater surprises with its quiet intimacy. The hushed atmosphere adds to the allure, transporting you to a place where the magic of film takes center stage. We were among a handful of patrons, creating an almost private screening experience in the massive auditorium.

Our chosen film, 'Society of the Snow,' unfolded on the large silver screen with captivating brilliance, earning a solid 10/10. Post-film, we took it upon ourselves to tidy up what little mess we made, a small gesture of appreciation for the staff.

We parked just behind the theater on a residential street, and while I felt relatively safe during the late night walk, I can understand a small group of individuals having their reservations, but there was also parking on Sawtelle, which is a more brightly lit and busier street. Overall, the Nuart Theater is a cinematic gem that goes beyond screening movies; it crafts an immersive journey, leaving you overwhelmingly pleased with this hidden treasure of West LA.

We love love the Nuart Theater. It is now owned by Landmark. The entire movie house has been remolded, but keeping the great neon on the outside.

It is a one screen theater, thank goodness and it is so comfortable.

They show art films, Indie films, older films and they are famous for their 11:00 pm showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show which is the most fun you will ever have at a theater. The audience dances and sings the songs, people dress up as their favorite character and they have a cast of actors who are on the aisles and the stage acting out the parts and just saying the most funny things. Some people go there a lot. This was our first time and we had so much fun. Do not take children unless you don't mind dirty language and sexual jokes. I took my grandson and he loved it. He is old enough to know what he is not allowed to repeat and he was welcomed by everyone. The people that go are super nice.

The theater itself has a lovely lobby, great snacks and really nice staff. The place is very clean and as I said remolded. The seats are great. All new and they recline a bit. Soft and with a cup holder.

They have a great choice of movies so go there and have fun. Parking is on the street or there is a lot near by. I got there early enough to just grab a free street spot--mind the signs.

I absolutely love going to this theater! I love that it only has one screening room and they show select movies there. I fee like it makes the experience more special because every time feels like an exclusive invite to a super cool movie. The staff is always very nice and they have all the regular movie snacks that you love plus some extra special things. You can also enjoy an alcoholic beverage if you so choose.

Went for the first time and they were showing my favorite film, I liked this place and the person behind the counter was friendly, it's next to a DVD store too, no parking though I was able to park on the street. Good experience.

I was late getting to my movie but I called and they ran extra trailers so I wouldn’t miss the movie. Beyond excellent service and really cool people. I’ll definitely be on my way back when I visit LA again.

One of the best indie theaters around. Reasonable ticket prices, ample concessions, wide aisles, comfy seats and of course movies you can't see anywhere else!

Rocky Horror Picture show was one of the most fun and LA experiences I've had in LA. I would definitely go back again and would recommend others to go as well.

It was hilarious and just fantastic and cheaper than a regular movie ticket with way more interaction and much more fun than a movie. If you've never seen this before, you'll definitely be in for a surprise, I was!!!

Spectacular! Art house movies, special documentary premiere screenings, and they serve beer. This place is worth driving all the way across town when something special is playing.

Beautiful theatre, great sound and comfortable seats. Awesome snack bar and staff all while showing films actually worth seeing. A classic theatre, beautiful neon sign and art deco elements. A gem that should be supported and treasured.

The first minor problem with the theatre is that there is only street/ metered parking; however, I only go on Sundays where street parking is free or, in the evenings where parking is free after 8 pm. However, I love that it is just one large theatre with sloped seating. I am able to see the screen at any angle. Recently, I saw "Roma" which is nominated for Best Sound and features ambient sounds in the movie. I was very impressed with the sound quality. Also, the prices are very reasonable: $12 during busy times as opposed to $18 at other theatres. The concession prices are less expensive as well. Note: this is a specialty/art-house theatre so if you love independent film, you will love this neighborhood theatre.

I have only really been here with the rocky horror picture show cast sins of the flesh, but every time I come it feels like family. Polite and helpful staff, fun and energetic crowds. It's a wonderful place to spend a day at. You can see full movies or shorts. You can see odd b-movies and blockbusters. You can see beautiful boys dressed as beautiful girls with almost nothing on(only on Saturdays at midnight.) I love the theater and it has become a sanctuary of sorts.
